Love this stuff. I first tried it with a lovely girl, who happened to be a bartender in New York. We enjoyed it at Mulligan's on Maui so I'm sure it's available there. Lots of dimension and character, highly recommended.

I drink my whisky neat and Powers is easily the best Irish whisky by a long margin. I was lucky enough to try it during a visit to N. Ireland and my friend had the sense to know quality. Powers is a real gem of a drink. Yes, I have tried the big names in Irish Whisky, and they pale by comparison.

MY LAST NAME IS POWERS SO I SAW IT IN THE STORE AND BOUGHT IT FOR A NOVELTY ITEM! IM A BOURBON MAN USUALLY JACK, BUT ONE DAY I WAS OUT OF JD AND DECIDED TO CRACK IT OPEN! TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS THING I'VE TASTED. ITS ALL I DRINK NOW AND I DRINK IT STRAIGHT NO ICE NO COKE (WHICH I ALWAYS USED WITH JD)

I was introduced to Powers by my family on one of my eight trips to Ireland in the last 10 years ... and love it ... and am a confirmed Powers drinker. However I live far from the source in Hawaii and recently ALL my favorite Irish pubs here have stopped carrying Powers! They tell me the "distributor doesn't have it any more" or "there's a shipment coming in next week" or some such excuse. I think the Powers people in Ireland should know about this and for Heavens sake, do something ... Please advise my email and let me know that you're still making Powers and can send it this far away ... This has been going on for two years now! Many thanks and please save this thirsty Irishwoman ... aloha ... Bobbee Diaz

It's ok. A little too hot and astringent in the finish for me, especially for an 80 proof

Power's Gold Label is the best value in Irish Whiskey. The flavor is very hearty and it goes down easy. I'll take my three swallows with pleasure.

Picked up a bottle yesterday after reading a few reviews here.  I'm not disappointed in the least.  If you want a pleasantly smooth and sweet Irish whiskey this is a nice way to go.  Nothing harsh about it, pleasant, mild.  I'll be keeping some around for those times when something light and easy is what I'm in the mood for.

I drink this in place of Johnny Walker Red over ice, which I think is a little better but is a little more spendy.  Very similar in flavor over ice to good blended scotch.  Other than the cheap Jameson, it is the only Irish Whiskey I really enjoy.    The question is why does a good Irish whisky taste like a great blended scotch?

The very best. I first had Powers in Ireland and found that it is available some places here. Has quickly become a local favorite here in West Virginia. the best part of the drink is that it won't break the bank, leaving enough money to buy more! I've had some more expensive whiskey but this is my choice...without a doubt.

Another excellent relatively low-end Irish Whiskey. The big four in order of light to stronger flavors: Bushmills, Jameson, Tullamore Dew, and Powers. I find the Powers Gold to have the most character than the others though giving up a wee bit of smoothness in the bargain. Mixed with a little good water on the rocks it is very tasty indeed. It is slightly cheaper than the other three $20 vs $22 to $24. All are a bit pricey for a frequent consumer but I appreciate the care that goes into the Irish product. I just wish I had the money to try the higher priced Irish Whiskeys. For this guy Powers would be just fine...keep 'em coming bartender!

I've been converted. My first taste of bourbon was at age 7, with a tablespoon of sugar, taken as a cough medicine (it's a West Virginia thing). Bourbon was the drink of the house, we're Scots-Irish and corn whiskey is in the blood. I tried Scotch after law school (it's a lawyer thing), but it always tasted like ditch-water to me (don't ask me how I know; it goes back to a certain party in college: "Who's that I stepped over in the parking lot to get in here?" Guess who.) Anyway, I read Michael Jackon's World Guide to Whisky to learn more about bourbon, but got intrigued by his description of Irish whiskey. I researched it further and thought Power's Gold Label was a good place to start. Mother of God, what a great place to start - nectar, a revelation, what whiskey should be. Bourbon is fine, but Irish whiskey is better, and for the money, Power's is world-class. It got a double gold medal at a world spirits competition and many whiskey writers agree, Power's Gold Label is THE Irish w... Read more

Powers is the most popular Irish whiskey in Ireland and there's a reason. It's the most distinctively Irish of the mainstream Irish whiskeys because of the high percentage in the blend of traditional Irish pot-still whiskey - made in a pot still from a mixture of malted and unmalted Barley. It's quite an assertive whiskey, and very different from most Scotches or Bourbons. It's light, it doesn't have a long finish and it is distinctly sweet on the palate. Please note that the quality does vary from bottle to bottle; some are like nectar whilst others are more fiery. Powers is a much finer drink than the better known Jameson/Old Bushmills/Tullamore Dew brands of Irish Whiskey. It compares very favorably with the rare pure potstilled Irish whiskies Redbreast and Green Spot. Indeed it closely resembles Green Spot but it's sweeter, doesn't cost $50 a bottle and you can buy it in the local liquor store. It's my favorite drinking whiskey and probably the best bargain in your loca... Read more

Stumbled out of bed the next day and surprise! Still had a few dollars in my pocket and no hangover. My irish friends all swear by it.

Powers is very good whiskey at a bargain price. I found it significantly better than the mass marketed Jameson, and it's cheaper. My dad went over to Ireland and tells me this is what the locals drink.

Good stuff, a lil kick not really for the inexperienced in Irish whiskey, best way to put it down is to hold the bottle up toast my homies and drop some down the gullet.

Make it a large one. With a good helping of still water, it goes perfect with a pint of Guinness. Great after a long day's work... Best whiskey for everyday use :-)

Best value great whisk(e)y I've ever had. Great pot still flavor and what seems like very little grain.

I've tried them all. Powers is the one I like best day in, day out. Smooth with a hit of lingering sweetness. A double shot is always best!

What a good Irish whiskey is meant to be. Silky smooth and full of body.
