It really depends on the situation and the severity of the name-dropping.

Okay, it can be annoying. . .but it's not the worst thing on this list. Some people I've seen in Manhattan and D.C. pull this off real well. . .but you'd better be good at it or you look REAL bad. . .

So I was on the phone with Angelina the other day, when she just happened to mention that Halle was on her way over. PUH-LEAZE! Like I care what big name celebrities she hangs out with. So, later on, Britney and I went out and decided that we're going to kick her out of our club, because name dropping is just soooo lame.

Although most use it as a way to impress people,it is sometimes simply used as a way to start up a conversation, much like having a talking bass on your wall.I don't have a talking bass on my wall, but I think it's better than name-dropping.

I don't want to hear about who you KNOW and what THEY'VE done, I want to know who YOU are and what YOU'VE done.

I don't think people who do this quite get how dumb they come off. And considering there are really very few people I feel are truly worthy of any kind of adulation - especially that I may be likely to encounter in my every day life - the whole process is usually lost on me. They might be going on and on about this or that supposedly important so and so for quite awhile before I would realize they were trying to be impressive. If you can't impress someone with your own accomplishments you sure can't borrow them from someone else. Another one for the “Silly Habits” category.
