    Technically speaking this item is more than just Stonehenge as the entry in the UNESCO list of protected sites also includes the Avebury rings and associated sites nearby (which I'll also mention in this review). The last time I visited the Salisbury plain was quite late in the year so it was raining quite heavily in places, but I didn't let that stop me from visiting all the historical sites I wanted to see. The first place I stopped at was the world famous Stonehenge. To some Stonehenge is nothing more than a pile of rocks, but to those who are interested in history it is a mysterious sight that has raised many questions over the years, and even after a recent dig this year they are yet to find satisfactory answers to state when it was first constructed and what it was used for. There have been many theories such as it being used in religious ceremonies - but that seems an all too common answer for anything archaeologists are unsure on.
