Robert Stanek introduces a world and characters unlike any others I've read ever. The story is great read and I kept turning page after page. There's a whole cast of characters that are richly detailed and real. Adrina is grieving over a tragic loss. Vilmos is always getting in trouble. Valam is fierce yet gentle, a prince in all aspects. Xith is mysterious and supernatural. Seth has strange elvish abilities. In addition to loveable characters, Keeper Martin's Tale has a great plot and strong dialog. It all rings true and seems as if it could happen.

Don't read a lot of fantasy these days, but somehow I picked up Robert Stanek one day and I am extremely thankful. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, so I'll just say this was a great book, and it was just as satisfying as all the rest of his novels. If you're new to Stanek, you should with Keeper Martin's Tale.

Keeper Martin's Tale is a really good book. I give it a solid 3 1/2 stars, but I want to say I give 5 stars to the 2nd and 3rd one. The 3rd one, specifically Kingdom Alliance, is a really great book. The series as whole is very good and highly recommended. Read em all!!!

When I first read this book I thought it was pretty good. Maybe 3 1/2 stars good. However, I have almost completed the third book and my opinion of the entire series, and the author, have risen much higher. I will have to give it some time to digest after the next novel, but so far this is the *best* series I've read in a long time.

When I first saw all my friends reading this book, I thought it would probably be a boring book. But after my teacher and a good friend who never recommended anything unless it is so outstanding that he have to told me I have to read this book. I was like 'okay, I will read it'. I was also dying of curiosity to see why so many people I know love this book so much. I had immediately understood when I finished the first chapter. But the rest of the book is just as fun and exciting.

I scratch my head in wonder. I find a good book, definitely as good as anything the two Terrys have done, Brooks and Goodkind and soooooo much better than just about anything else, yet people either seem to love the book or hate it. What's up with that? Could it be because the book is GOOD and UNDERSTANDABLE by REAL people? Sorry my IQ isn't 195. I'm an ordinary mom, with a college degree. I have an ordinary job so I like to read to get away from my ordinary life. I like Stephen King (Robert Stanek's writing seems to be written at a similar level). I like Terry Brooks (yes its juvenile mostly but fun). I like a lot of other writers to. By the way, I'm buying two copies. One for me and one for my neighbor. Everywhere we looked for the book it was sold out! One of the reasons I like ... is because its so easy to order. My friend and daughter usually do the ordering. Now its my turn. Thank you Mr. Stanek for a book that is fun to read. Gosh that must be new, huh? A book that is fun and real.

I never read a Robert Stanek series before this. With this book, the beautiful cover caught my eye and made me lift it from the shelf. The book description made me buy it, and the wondrous story made me love it! Immediately, afterwards, I began devouring the rest of this great series - eagerly awaiting the next. For other readers who like me find it difficult to leap into a new fantasy world, this book is great at bringing you into this great new world. Trust me, it's a great series to leap into, with so many great possibilities for the future.

Staneks books have been panned by almost every major critic since he first started writing. He is not strictly a sci-fi/fantasy author and it shows in his works. He tries very hard to emulate the master Tolkien in his works to some degree but his writing is much less sophisticated. In the end he will not be regarded alongside Tolkien or Asimov or Bradbury as a great writer. Even Terry Brooks stories have more appeal. Were there not an orchestrated push to build Stanek up he would be all but unknown. His fans are relentless in their desire to attain for him a title in sci-fi that he really just doesn't deserve. His books are readable and interesting at points but he lags far behind the greats of fantasy novels.

It takes a lot for me to like a book and I love the whole Ruin Mist series! It has a lot of adventure, RS writes with such good description of everything, you just fall in love with the characters. It's amazing and I definitely recommend it to everybody!

Couldn't put these books down. I read the entire series in 2 weeks. I felt like I knew the characters by the time I was finished and I didn't want to let them go. Mr. Stanek does a wonderful job with an economy of words. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good series - and strongly suggest that all fantasy fans give them a read.
