Very accurate gun. The biggist fault of this gun is the trigger. Not adjustable and very heavy from factory. Fix the trigger and it would be my favorite of the single shots.

Mossberg came so close to a home-run on the SSI......but ruined it with a terrible trigger. Why they chose to go with a non-adjustable trigger with the pull measuring more than 7 pounds....no one can guess. However, this is a great looking, great shooting gun. Solve the trigger problem and you will never regret owning one, or two, or three....

I started with the 270 sporter, and recently purchased the 22-250 bull from a Canadien outfit. I could not find any in the Good Old USA. Each hold a quarter size pattern at 200 yds. I hope to kill some prarie dogs in the near future. The trigger is heavy, but it sounds like some of you have fiqured a way to fix that. I am sure to look into that, and any advice is appreciated. I have found the SSI-1 to be a fine piece of workmanship otherwise.

I own two Mossy SSI's both initially in 30-06. I have not shot the newest one yet because I have been procrastinating about which scope to put on it. As for the one I have fired it shoots better than I can hold I'm sure. One hole 3 shot groups at 25 yards to sight it in and an inch or less at 100. I have also aquired the rifled 12 gauge barrel for this frame and shot inch to inch & half groups with it at 50 yards using Rem. copper solid 2 3/4" rounds. I have some 3" for it that I suspect because of there length may be a bit more accurate. As for the trigger it is a bit on the heavy side but for a noting gun maybe not unreasonably so.

Fixed trigger on 6 buffing wheel loaded with 240 grit. Got rid of auto safety device at same time. (Couldn't re-install it.) Glad it's gone. Have .223 & .243 barrel. Both shoot well under inch at 100 with select loads

I have an SSi-One slug gun that I am very pleased to say is a tack-driver. With Winchester BRI sabots, I get <1.5-inch groups at 50 yards. The heavy trigger is the only aspect of this firearm that prevents me from giving it five stars; crappy triggers are typical of every Mossberg I have ever owned, but once you are accustomed to this one's weight, it can be shot fairly accurately. I plan to buy the 22-250 varmint barrel soon. For the money, I don't think you can find as accurate a slug gun with an American walnut stock and cut checkering anywhere.

I got me one of them mossberg guns and I duct tape a big stick to the trigger so it became a lever action. One day when I was in the french army i was all plugged up so one of my French buddys removed his barrel and gave me an enerma with er. It went in smooth with little or no burn. Ol jaque he done liked it too. Now I'm regularer

rare find! own three SSi's.30-06 ,243 , and a 22-250 hvy. bbl. all with unbelievebly bad triggers but do they shoot! my first three shots( i first condition bbls with bore-bright) with the 06 using Rem. 150 corelok ammo($7.95 a box) measured .7 inches, after sighting in my last group measured .35 inches. the 22-250, still trying to find the right load shoots five shot groups of .625 inches(had trigger work done on this one) soon i will try the 243. note : all three guns have extremely tight chambers so starting with fresh case is suggested. larry

had to float the barrel and file off half of the sear to lighten the trigger, but my ssi in .223 bull barrel shoots a five shot group at a hundred yards that you can cover with a nickel.

Just purchased ssi in 22-250.One trip to the range has shown very good accuracy, about 1/2"to 1 1/2" 3 shot groups.Trigger is stiff .Have been an avid hunter and target shooter for 40 years and this rifle by Mossberg shows no flaws in workmanship.Would like to get extra barrel in 30-06 or 270.Price and versatility are a definate plus.
