06/12/2007 | This is one of my all time favorite movies and in my humble opinion highly underated. Sandra Bulluck is poignant and yet hilarious in this. Of course on of my favorite comedy guest stars is William Shatner. What do we want?......"WORLD PEACE" of course :)

I think she was on her last two legs with this movie, and they just got cut off. A real sleeper. Expect anything but entertainment from this horrid film

12/10/2001 | Good enough. Sandra Bullock did well- it would have been better if she acted more "un-feminine" in the beginning rather than waiting for other characters to call attention to it. The "mystery" side of the plot isn't that deep, but the movie has lots of funny characters ("Ms. Rhode Island"), and I was kept entertained.

09/30/2001 | sandra bullock's charm and sense of humor i think saved this movie. it's a rather formulaic story of a someone confronting their personal fears, and poof, overcome their flaws. it kinda reminded me of that drew barrymore movie, never been kissed. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if it was done by the same people. it had the same solo-flying geeky girl who gets psychoanalyzed with a few cheesey lines of dialogue, and through the adventures of going undercover for her dayjob learns how to enjoy a typical social life. plus every single one of the supporting characters are incredibly flat and unsubstantial. but i don't mind these kinds of movies, sometimes i'm in the mood for something sweet and simple

07/11/2001 | Sandra Bullock should be a teacher..! I really didn't think she had it in her. Simply due to the fact that she's such a pretty a lady. I hate to say it but I was impressed with Sandra's fighting abilities in this one. She could certainly well instruct the girls in the latest rendition of "Charlie's Angels". "Credibility"...! The producers of this motion picture aren't treating the audience like a bunch of stupid - gullable nerds...in other words. But the producers of Charlie's Angels seems to think we, as an audience will buy anthing they throw at us. Thanks to the producers of "Miss Congenialtiy". And umm Sandra ....will you be a bit more careful from now on ......cause you're a really kewl lookin girl. Get my drift?

While this movie certainly won't win any academy awards, it has an old-fashioned charm that's absent in many of today's comedy movies. Sandra Bullock's brand of slapstick humour never gets tiresome here. As a bumbling FBI agent who goes undercover as a contesant in a beauty pageant, she must've tripped at least a dozen times while wearing high heels yet it was funny every time! Though the plotline is simple, Miss Congeniality shows viewers that beauty is more than skin deep. I enjoyed Miss Congeniality very much! It was much better than I expected.

05/25/2001 | My wife and I have always enjoyed Sandra Bullock’s movies. We rented Miss Congeniality and once again found ourselves thoroughly entertained. From front to back, we laughed all the way through the movie. Certainly not a great piece of classic art but served its purpose well as a Saturday night comedy rental.

05/05/2001 | I had pretty low expectations for "Miss Congeniality," and the movie barely met them. Sandra Bullock plays an FBI agent who goes undercover as a contestant in the Miss United States Pageant in order to prevent a terrorist bombing. The show develops in a predictable manner, first showing Bullock as a mousy tomboy, and then transforming her into beauty-contestant material. There are some funny scenes as Bullock struggles with her new image, and she's pretty believable in both of her roles. I admire the way Bullock plays unglamorous roles and is willing to look goofy and unattractive (that's a relative term here!), kind of like Lucille Ball. But even Bullock couldn't salvage a really bad script and terrible acting by most of the cast. I don't recommend seeing this movie unless you're a die-hard Sandra Bullock fan. Even then, it's a risk!

C, she plays the same woman, only she spoofs it in everyway she can. She plays an FBI agent who has to dress up at a beauty pagent to stop an evil woman played by Candice Bergen from blowing up the crown, which has just been awarded to a goofy woman from Rhode Island. Funny, funny, funny movie.

Michael Cain and others.I also liked the fact that if you brought your children they would enjoy it too and they would find some of the parts really funny.

01/18/2001 |  This movie is enjoyable and entertaining in a 'congenial' way. The story itself is background for Sandra Bullock to present her cute charisma and feminine prowess, and the audience is fine with that. I liked the tough clumsiness of her character, it was a part of the story which most people could relate to. The imperfections of life and how welcoming it is. As for Bullock alone she has done some very difficult roles in movies such as 'Hope Floats' and 'Twenty-eight Days'. She plays the cute difficult girl. The one that is hard to get close to and everyone can relate to this, wether you're the guy trying to win her heart and messing up terribly, or for a lot of women they can relate to her. This is what the audience feeds on, being able to reflect part of themselves out of the movie. In casual film critique conversations after an entertaining movie, people will go over moments of the picture
and find likenesses with themself. This is both healthy and necessary for the audience to touch this part of their own mind and heart. Other talents like Robin Williams, Klaus Marla Brandeur, and Ashley Judd, to name a quick few are also touched with the ability to reach people through the art of 'film.'
