    Been there twice since 9/11. A very moving, emotional experience.

    I used to work in that area, actually down the street from it. It always boggles my mind that people go see it, because there's really nothing to see. It's a fence with some pictures on it, and the PATH train, yet people are taking pictures. Well, I guess if you walk down the side, you can see a little bit inside the hole... Go to St. Paul's on Broadway if you want a twin towers pilgrimmage.

    It is not an attraction but rather a sobering historical observance of a World Tragedy.

    I would not classify this as a tourist attraction in the sense of a happy activity or fun time. No more so than places like Gettysburg or the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, or Arlington Cemetary. However, when I was in NYC this past week and on one of the Grayline city tour buses, I did get off briefly at this stop. I did it for several reasons. I did it because the last time I was in NYC it was just slightly less than 3 weeks before the attack on the World Trade Center. Coincidently, the hotel where I stayed that time was the Marriott World Trade Center located between the towers and attached to the north tower. In those few days, I had become familiar with the area in and outside the buildings. I watched those people coming and going from work as I bought bagels, coffee and shopped. When the terrible news hit the airwaves and we all watched in stunned horror, the images One WTC were still very fresh in my mind. So much so, that I had several nightmares afterward. I have always felt the ne... Read more

    This is why ground zero is an attraction: First: Let us never forget to have humane International policys and not pushed other societies around to the point where their only means of retaliation is this cowardly. Second: In Germany, the concentrations camps are attractions too, reason being to remind all people living now and for generations after of what humans are capable of and to never let history repeat itself. Third: For the millions of people that shared the pain through television screens on that tragic day. This is also a place for their closure.

    I am rating not Ground Zero, but RIA a "1-Terrible!". "Terrible!" that this has not been removed from the website. I was horrified to see tourists at the former World Trade Center site taking pictures, buying "souvenirs" from heartless vendors, and one person even eating ice cream while watching construction like it was the circus! We quickly left and chose to formally remember the victims at nearby Trinity Church, which is appreciative of donations for all of the support they provided during the recovery efforts.

    I group this with the abovereferenced and obsolete "Windows on the World." My post in that regard indicates my nausea that a scene of disaster and carnage has been turned into a tourist attraction. Shows you that Americans are bumptuous, insensitive, death-loving schmucks, and that any foreigners who flock down there are gloating turds who put on this specious show of honor and respect. Makes you want to barf.

    This is not an attraction. This is a reminder- a reminder that the evil of terrorism is still a threat to all nations which love and charish freedom.

    Ground Zero should not be consider an NYC attraction. Many innocent civilians lost their lives. Some of their remains have not been identify yet!! To see people treat Ground Zero like Disney World make me sick. I would have to agree that taking pictures of a gravesite is very tacky. Ugh!

    I would not call Ground Zero an attraction. More of a memorial where thousands of people lost their lives.I would not want to visit there. I read recently that some tourists actually have their picture taken at Ground Zero.{tacky!}

    To call it a bloody attraction is perverse. A Historical site maybe, but attraction implys a sense of fun. Al-qaida may call it that.An atrracion is desney world.

    To call it a "attraction" in the usual sense of that word is obscene. People who treat it as such should have their souls examined--assuming they have any. If you called it a "pilgrimage site" or something that properly conveys solemnity and grief, I might rate it differently. It is legitimate to visit such places as ground zero (and the Shanksville crash site, not far from my home) as many do--to pay their respects to the lost. But don't call it a tourist attraction.

    I agree with BigBaby and Bebebloo. Why is a place where thousands of lives were lost and thousands more were changed forever considered a TOURIST ATTRACTION?

    People who flocked from all over to see called "ground zero" & had the hats displaying the emblem-made me kind of sick. With their cameras-you should of been there before the terrible tragic event took place! Shame on you!
