Probably The Best Cartoon Ever. In watching many other cartoons, I have observed that they have used many of the elements used in Spongebob.

This show was good when it first aired because it was original and not so annoying (my favorite episode as a kid was when Spongebob made different colored patties) but after the movie, it started to go downhill. It was better animation but the plots of the epidsodes were getting duller and duller. I think I stopped watching in 2008, I was so annoyed.
Although I am impressed by how long it has been airing for.

This show, to me, is a modernized 'classic cartoon'. It has mild violence, some stupidity that can make you laugh, and a high-spirited sponge. The first two seasons of this show are hilarious and excellent, and he can make you laugh your socks off. But then, after the movie and third season, he started to become obnoxious, incredibly annoying, and rude. I mean, I begin to feel sorry for Squidward because he keeps telling him to stop with his idiocy. But Spongebob and his unintelligent friend Patrick never and hardly listen to him. While other classic cartoon characters can have that 'annoying' streak, none of it comes near how bad Spongebob is. I did used to love this show when I was younger, and still love some of the hilarious episodes to this day. But I just cannot stand the new episodes and not to mention the movies. He's overall an okay character.

I guess I just don't get it. Everyone else seems to think this stupid little sponge is funny, but I just find him highly annoying.

Spongebob pwns!!!! I mean seriously? He's a sponge in the sea that talks, works at the krusty krab, and lives in a pinapple! I mean.... How is that not awesome? Spongebob will live on forever!

I give Spongebob a 3 out of 5, as that is smack in the middle of the ratings I'd give for each 'age' of Spongebob. (1999-2004 = 5 stars easily ;2004-present = 1 star. If even that.)

After the Movie, which I thought was great, Spongebob lost all of its charm. The characters became incredibly obnoxious (Spongebob is now DELIBERATELY annoying, which I find just sick.) The humor became more 'potty' orientated, and the under-the-radar witty adult humor that the old Spongebobs had was replaced with sick, disturbing images.

I now check to see if the Spongebob they're showing is an 'old episode' before watching it. The new ones might give me scurvy (Cartoon malnutrition! Cannot.... stand...!!)

After the Movie in 2004, The sponge got too girly, which turned me off. imean he used pink lip gloss. and he kisses poor squidward constantly. __.

Spongebob Squarepants revived animation in a lot of ways. At a time when Beavis and Butthead, South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, etc. etc. ruled the cable airwaves of animation, Spongebob comes onto the scene with high quality and well-crafted animation, really good voice actors, and shenanigans that are funny and don't need to cater to the lowest denominator of the funny factor to get a laugh. I am not saying I don't enjoy degenerate style satiric comedy, but it is nice to have an alternative as well.

Although I'll give it an extra star for its occasional campy elements.

fuck u whoever said people over 10 that watch this should choke..u shld choke for not watching it..i think it is a very good show for kids and i mean im 21 and i still get a giggle out of it when im watching it..I think is one of the very few good cartoon shows for kids still out there..rocket power was the best though

Brilliant compared to the competition. Marginally watchable for an adult, the kids seem to enjoy it quite a lot. The concept is quite unique.

ONe of the very few good cartoons now. The 90's had better cartoons. Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Johnny Bravo (which was created by Seth Mcfarlane), and SpongeBob...all 90's, all great.

This is a great kids show! Also great for adults, like me. In fact, I been watching it since I was 12, 13.
^_^ And now I'm 20! It's so cute and wacky and intricate, "nautical nonsense" all right! :P

I love SpongeBob and I'm not afraid to say so.I like the fact that he works at a job he enjoys,doesn't make alot of money,but can still afford a two-story house.O.K. it is made out of a pineapple and not out of wood or brick.He has a low-maintanence pet and his best-friend lives right next door.Oh,and he can walk to work.I would like to think that all the royalties,he gets,from his merchandising hasn't gone to his head.He is a classic cartoon character, in his own time.

A show you can enjoy by yourself, or with friends. I really like this show, its funny, original and a bit strange at times which makes it surreal. The characters and plots really go well with this show. First time I saw the commercial, I thought the show was going to be stupid, but I gave it a chance and found it to be interesting and a pretty good cartoon.

Its actually pretty funny at times, some of you out there giving it low scores must have never seen "Band Geeks" or "Safety Freak", Spongebob isnt retarded or gay either. Spongebob is a homosexual sponge. Most of the kids who watch this cartoon are retarded, or atleast they will be after they watch about 100 episodes. Not funny at all, unless you call 2 guys hugging funny.

pretty darn funny. every now and then i'll catch a joke that i wonder if kids even understand. i'm not one of those guys you see walking around college campus with the spongebob t-shirts, but it's a good show.

i think spongebob is the best thing ever and im twelve but some people disagree with me and thats ok because i have a few bad comments like there repeated alot (they need more episodes)i think one of the best is the lost episode

Spongebob Squarepants is a highly enjoyable show for kids and adults. Kids will love this show and adults will chuckle at the jokes. This show stars a sponge(spongebob), a frycook at the Krusty Krab restaurant. His friend, Patrick (a starfish), is not the brightest, but he makes the show even more funny! There are so many great episodes with great stories of the adventures of Spongebob, Patrick, and all their Bikini Bottom pals!

Very good creative show thats come a long way since it first started, but also seems like you see alot of the same things over and over, should be ending soon.

Spongebob Squarepants has slowly grown on me. As the choices for unrealistic and good-natured entertainment become thinner with each passing television season, I finally decided to give this cartoon a try. And, lo and behold, it's really funny. Sure, it can't match up to the consistnently-enjoyable Pokemon or the over-the-top and inspired insanity of Dave the Barbarian, but it is not bad at all. The animation isn't that impressive, but has its moments. It's also almost completely innocous. The voice acting is very well done. The show does running jokes very well and it's hard not to like the character of Spongebob. The show breaks the fourth wall sometimes, has great running gags, and uniquely adds live-action elements into the animation for added humor.

Well if you like idiotic humor than this show is good for you. But it repeats a lot of the same kind of stuff and its really now just amusing for younger audiences 5-10 because of all its bright colors, big eyes, and lots of insane screaming.

SpongeBob isn't the best thing on TV by a long stretch, but it's far and away better than any of the other cartoons on these days.

One of the few cartoons that I really do enjoy and watch with my kids. Utterly absurd pretext and wildly exaggerated characters - it must have been fun to write. The film feature was a disappointment, aside from the totally gratuitous appearance of David Hasselhoff, but episodes such as 'Clams' are true classics. Rates way way above the saccharine rubbish that is shown on Disney.
