I pop this bad boy in, and I'm listen to it, and eventually every time I get to the same conclusion, This shit is metal as fuck. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face, unless your a suicidal emo kid. The stuff is orchestrated by the cosmos.

I can't believe this band is rated this high! They should have stopped making music after Duane died, or before, it doesn't matter which one as long as they stopped. If you like that southern rock crap then I guess they would be alright, but their music is just horrendous. I made the mistake of buying "The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East [Deluxe Edition]" and what a waste of money and time that was. This album sucked so bad I I almost threw the CD's out of my window while I was driving home. The one good thing was that I was able to get a store credit when I returned this piece of sh*t.

This rating's for the classic line-up. I dont see quite why they're still called the Allman Brothers when one of them's been dead for 30 years. Anyway, theyre probably the best bunch of white geezers ever to play the blues (honourable exception being Jaimoe) and even though they went in for extended guitar jams they never seemed interminable.By the way, Skynyrd weren't fit to lick the sh*t of Duane's bike tyres.

The best American band ever and the greatest Blues/Rock band of all time. Comparisons with Skynyrd (which is a Rock and Roll Band!) are moot due to the very different style of music that they play and the virtuosity with which the ABB plays. I absolutely love the Lynyrd Skynyrd band whose talents lie in the ability of Ronnie VanZAnt to write incredible, colorful lyrics and the boys to produce a kickass three guitar sound, but the Allman Brothers (in all of their line-ups) have always employed monster talents of technical efficiency on guitar starting with the classic Duane Allman Dickey Betts team. Duane was a ferocious hard rock/blues player who was widely considered to be the top slide guitar player of all time. With his foil Dickey Betts, you got another blues master who brought an eclectic variety of hard rock, country, bluegrass, jazz/fusion, and a tremendous capacity to compose as evidenced in the smoldering "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", the soaring instrumental "Jessica" and ... A far, far better band than Skynyrd (the most obvious comparison), listen to the Fillmore album, and realize the musicians are only 22,23 years old.. good god but they were talented.

5 stars for their first 4 studio albums and 'Fillmore East'. I've always felt Dickie Betts has been overlooked in favour of Duane. His playing on 'Jessica' alone is an example of how to play thoughtful and exciting guitar with feeling. After 'Eat and Peach' and 'Brothers and sisters' they more or less lost the plot.

Ok an overall 2.75 rating, this must change! They are so incredibly talented and god bless Duane Allman, god rest his soul. He became known as the second best guitar player of all time, voted by rolling stones. He made slide guitar an art form and went with it. All of the talented members of the Allman brothers came together mixing southern rock with blues and creating some of the best music to come to my ear.

These guys had outstanding musical taste, chose their material carefully and paid great respect to their influences while coming up with a unique and genuine sound of their own. An interesting mix of blues, rock, country, jazz and even folk that was very well conceived and played. Outstanding guitar work. Masters of the extended jam. "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" is a classic. The vocals were a tad weak as G. Allman basically sux, but the sophistication of their collective musical consciousness, the polish of their performing and the emotional valence of the presentation compensated for this. The Allmans had significant further influence on other bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, The Outlaws, and even the late 1970s lower East Side guitar band Television.

I grew up with the Allman Brothers here in Macon Georgia. They truly should have achieved a much higher status. However, drugs and other problems kept them confined to status of "Southern Rockers". Greg Allman In my opinion Broke past that Death Sentence of being a "Southern Rocker". Greg Allman, even without the others is truly a blues master. With albums such as Laid Back as an earlier credit he showed the he had what it took to overcome his tainted past. I never felt music until I heard Greg Allman. As a hole or in seperate They are Stevie Ray Vaughn Material.

Should be higher. Maybe if Duane Allman were still alive today they would be higher ranked. Great blues band! Classic songs that will forever be timeless. Duane was the Greates Slide Guitar Player Ever!!

What an underrated band these guys were. But, with Lynyrd Skynyrd in everyone's memory, these guys will always be second fiddle. I'm quite shocked and suprised to see these guys all the way down the list. With such incredible tunes such as "Melissa", "Blue Skies", "Ramblin' Man", these guys made me proud that I grew up in the Southeast. Ironically, like Skynyrd, these guys have also seen their share of tragedy losing Greg Allman and Barry Oakley within a year of each other back in the early 70s. They did an exceptional job giving us alittle bit of everything (rock, blues, and country) in each track.

These guys invented a whole genre of rock and roll: southern rock. They are the greatest live rock and roll band of all time! I've seen them live over a period of nearly 30 years and the musicianship -- the strong blues-driven rock and roll, the jazz-inspired exploration, the original song-writing -- are not touched by anyone out there. Duane Allman alone is enough to give these guys 5 STARS, but add in Gregg's vocals, Dickie Betts's guitar-work, the rhythm-section of Berry Oakley, Jaimoe and Butch Trucks (from the original line-up and you should be allowed 6 STARS, at least. These guys are originals, the real deal and they've been doing it for 30 years
