01/30/2002 | As a subscriber for many years,i'd recommend Sight and Sound to any fellow lovers of international films.The contributors include many of the top English-language film critics,the lay-out is clean and straightforward.The overall balances (between world "Arthouse" fare and latest American-both Hollywood and independent- productions;and between current reviews and the authoritative articles)should satisfy the genuine cinephile.The main reason i don't give it 5 stars is because i tend to be left wanting more.(Each decade,S&S holds a major poll of international critics and directors' favourite films.The next is due out later this year,should be of particular interest,as there will be a higher percentage of opinion from Africa and Asia).
