Dave Pelzer...regardless of his past, is an arrogant right-wing phony who hides behind a stucco wall and a rent-a-cop in a million dollar sh*t-home right off of Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, California. He and his wife have 4 autos (matching Hummers, as well as her Jaguar and his Lotus). He frequents Sullivans Steakhouse (without his wife) in Palm Desert and tries to act cool, buying drinks for the ladies, smoking cheap cigars, and spewing his know-it-all-psycho-babble, doing impersonations and quoting celebrities and Presidents. Most people just consider him creepy. I consider him an a**hole.

This is a book that any one who has children or works with children needs to read. I think it makes you think about how you talk and look at different kinds of kids!! When you do not know there home life at all!! It turned a lot of lights on for me. I could not put it down for 2 days.

this is Dave Pelzers third book on the trilogy of his life {so far} this starts up at the beginning of his adulthood and takes himself up until somewhere in his thirties. He gets married has a son, joins the airforce learns to be a pilot, gets divorced and remarried. I read his two books. A Child Called It. {his horrible abuse he endured from his monster of a mother} His second the Lost Boy, book talks of his life in the foster care system and then this one A Man Named Dave. I find him to be a remarkable man who has risen above his childhood to become a successful man. It would nice to at least read this book to see what "became of him"

I read nothing but true crime and when I read the back of this book, I was intrigued. I read both of his books and I am amazed at the way he turned his life around and all that he lived through. he is a VERY strong man and I commend him. Very great reading. It also makes you think twice when you spank your kid. Wonderful Man!
