I recently flew into and out of Heathrow and everything was timely and efficient. I felt pretty safe as well since I went through about 3 security checkpoints before getting to the gate to my flight only to find out there was another checkpoint set up. The staff was helpful to others as I didn't need any help, but I did take note. My flights were on time and I arrived safely!

Never had a problem with customs (quite friendly, in fact). . .and it's quite easy to get to via public transportation. . .pretty easy to find your way around. . .

Heathrow is well located for London travellers but it is old and dated..Terminal 3 is my vision of hell on earth,no matter what time of day or night it is always packed, the queues are huge. The company that runs the car parking facilities must be making obscene profits. The charges are higher than most car parks in central London and because you have to use the car park, you have a captive market so thay can charge what they like in the knowledge that people will have to pay up. Finally, the prices in the shops are much higher than central London. I paid over £6 for two simple coffees in Aug 2005. Again they can charge what they like because they have a captive market. Having said this Heathrow will always be popular because of it's location.

Horrible, Crowded and small!! (Especially when there are loads of people!!) However the waiting area inside (past immigration!) and staff is good. Don't like the immigration service they need to change their attitude toward passengers. You know we are not ALL criminals!!!!

This is hard to rate, because you would have to rate each terminal separately. Four is good, except in the AM when arrivals is a zoo. Three is a dump, period. One is okay. Two is old. Five is still under construction. Connections to Heathrow are poor for the volume of travellers. Heathrow should have been closed back in the 1960's and a large 24hr airport with six runways should have been built East of London. The Tube (Picadilly Line) to Heathrow is a decepit, overcrowded joke. Commuters have to use it too!

Best airport I've been in, which still makes if a long way down from a paradise. Like anything to do with London, beware the cabbies.

Terminal 4 - fine Terminal 1,2,3 - awful, but being worked on Terminal 5 - interesting to see how that works out DON'T drive to LHR DON'T take a black taxi into London DON'T take the Tube DO take the Heathrow Express into Paddington - very convenient, rapid service

Great airport, pretty easy to get around in, lots of nice specialty shops. Most of the security personnel speak English (you think I'm kidding?). Probably the best airport I've had to suffer through.

Good airport. Only problem I had was trying to tell where the bathrooms where.

I've flown into and out of Heathrow maybe 250 times. It may be familiarity rather than quality I'm rating it on!

Marginally better than Gatwick. Like Gatwick, watch out for taxi drivers outside who will charge an arm and a leg to take you to a nearby destination. Stick with the black cabs and know how much you expect to pay before you hail a cab.

The number one international airport in the world but feels quite comfortable. Fantastic shopping. Easy to get between flights, good security and a superb route network. What else?

I was recently in the UK for a week and I had to enter and exit through Heathrow. Even though this is the largest airport in world, it is very well managed. There are excellent stores and restaurants there. Crowd control is very good, considering the fact that many people go through that airport every day. The ticket counters got people on their flights quickly, airport transportation is good and it's not too far away from Central London as well. Security is par none and efficient. You have to pass through a scan both when entering the terminal in the airport and when you enter the gate when getting on a plane. The guards seems to know what they are doing and are watchful of any suspicious activity. The British have had tough security for many years now, they are experienced in providing good security while making sure that crowds flow well at the airport. The U.S. Transportation Department should look at how the Europeans do airport security. Their model may help our situation here, c... Read more
