    I wouldn't waste my time. I had the account since it was Dime and never had these problems with them. On February 10 I had a bill payment set to go to my roommate for rent, the logic being, it's easier to keep track of if it comes out of my account right away instead of waiting for her to go to the bank. It just so happened that was the same weekend as a really big blizzard and understandably, the check got lost in the mail. A week after the date that Washington Mutual said the check should be received, I called to speak to someone about it. This is where I should have known this would be one issue that would snowball... I called on a Friday at work during my lunch break and the associate I was speaking to couldn't access the system and so she transfered me... magically to an adult phone line... while I'm at work, where they know who called what number when... So, I get to hang up on the voice promising favors... and call back to tell an bank associate what happened and to plea... Read more

    What happens when a bank goes national and automates almost everything? Customer service goes out the window, and Washington Mutual is a perfect example of this. I worked in the banking industry for 16 years until I changed careers 8 or 9 years ago. Back then every one complained about BofA, which was huge at the time. I have experienced situations with WAMU that make me think BofA couldn't be much worse. An error on my account took a month to be corrected. It was an ATM related transaction, and I only got a "provisional credit" when I informed the branch supervisor that they were out of compliance with Reg E. The ATM reconciliation is automated, so an error that a human would have caught immediately turned into a frustrating branch visit for me. Holds are placed on checks that I deposit to my personal WAMU account from my WAMU business account. I was told that this will be the case unless I physically go into the branch.     Most horrible customer service I have ever encountered! Makes and error and offers no apologies. take your business elswhere and save the headaches!
