 | illusionbuster (7) 01/22/2007 | Such a passive, quite, mild mannered dude! No leader, he's just like Ford after Watergate, Repubs wanted a low profile figure after the Dems & media succeeded in casting the aggressive Newt a negative mold.

 | CA4life (0) 06/23/2005 | Is he qualified? Yes, but the American people will be hesitant to vote for a congressman, even though he was speaker of the house, he is still an unknown.

 | stolypin (3) 06/16/2005 | As a high school history teacher and coach who wants to pursue political office myself someday, he is my political hero! From high school wrestling coach to Speaker of the House, what a story!
He has suggested many truely visionary ideas. Long live the Fair Tax!!!!

 | knight4376 (0) 01/21/2005 | If Hastert were at least ten years younger, then I could possibly see him being a possible favorite.
He looks like a guy who can work with everyone. His being elected in a Democrat-leaning state tells you something.

 | texas4cash (0) 11/12/2004 | Hastert is a uniter. If America looks in 2008 as it does now, divided, he could bring the nation together. He is conservative enough to please the base and moderate enough to reach across to independents and centrist democrats. I would vote for him and have been hoping he will nod for the race in 08.

 | abichara (66) 11/10/2004 | Hastert is more of a legislative manager than anything else. I don't see him playing an executive role, he doesn't have those skills. Not the worst pick however.
