Even though this book was used and the ad mentioned that there was damage on the cover, it was in perfect condition, I'm very happy with this purchase. The book is great reading, not only does the author write about the restaurant and the food, he also talks about people, the area, interesting things that makes it enjoyable reading. I love it.

So if one isn't having a dinner with a long lost friend from NE prep school who has recently published an amazing photojournalist article about a Sub Saharan tribe, but rather you are interested in a good, honest, forthright restaurant review and recommendation guide - look elsewhere such as Zagats, TripAdvisor, Visa Signature Dining. Tis hard to get past all the gushing, name dropping stuff to find the relevant parts about the dining. Truly - you can get much better, concise information from other sources.

My wife and I just returned from a week in Paris and used this book to select our dinner venues for each evening (other than one). The five restaurants we went to were uniformly excellent and the reviews were spot on, as well as entertaining. We've been to Paris a number of times prior to this trip but we ate best this time, thanks to Hungry for Paris. Those who appreciate great food in relaxed restaurants will find this book to be a perfect guide to eating well in Paris.

We recently spent three weeks in Paris armed with Hungry for Paris. It is a phenomenal reference book and a great read. We probably visited two dozen or so restaurants recommended in the book, in every price range, and his reviews, descriptions of the atmosphere at the restaurants and the suggested dishes were spot on. Many Parisians that we have met would ask *us* for dinner recommendations after hearing all the places we have visited - many of the restaurants in this book are their inside, secret, all out favorites. In addition to that, the book reads more as a collection of essays than a Zagat, and is a pleasure to just pick up and flip through. A must for anyone who enjoys food and is planning on visiting Paris.

Lobrano introduces the Paris traveler and diner not only to the wonders of French cuisine, but also to the cosmopolitan charms of the Parisian neighborhoods in which he dines. Each review includes mini portraits of his many intimate acquaintances which adds another delightful layer to the reader's vicarious Paris dining experience. A true raconteur, Lobrano, with great wit and authority, helps educate all readers in the pleasures of the French table. Essays sprinkled throughout are humorous and engaging. All restaurant reviews include contact information and a quick synopsis of specialities. An invaluable addition to anyone traveling to Paris as well as a great airplane read on the way over.
