Ray Allen i think is one of the greatest shooters of all time. He can hit 3 pointers, he can shoot midrange, he can really hit free throws, as he was well over 90% in the regular season, and he can even get inside if he wants. definitely a great player, an all-star, and a key player on the Boston Celtics.

His championship last year with the Celts made him a first ballot hall of famer, rather than someone who would require a few years to get elected.

Great all around player. Has great shooting form and no wasted motion. Future Hall of Famer for sure
magellan 05/23/2008
It looks like Ray's lost about a step and a half. He can still shoot it, but as any baller will tell you, if you can't go around somebody when they come all the way out, it's tough to shoot it.
badgerfan 02/15/2008
He is a four and a half. Just not the presense to be a five, but better than many of the players in the league. Got to love to watch him shoot. I hate the dumb Buck for trading him. They are dumb.
Robbo59 01/22/2006
A great, great shooter, and one of the best players in the game today.
Corporal34 06/13/2005
He proved this year that he can be a great player AND a great leader, helping Rashard Lewis become an Allstar for the first time. Nobody in the league is as pure a shooter as Ray Allen, especially from behind the arc. Therefore, RE-SIGN HIM PLEASE, SEATTLE.
twansalem 03/23/2005
I had previously rated Allen three stars, as it had seemed that his game had really started to decline. But during the Finals last year and throughout this season, Allen seems to be almost as good as ever, although he's a step slower than in his Milwaukee or Seattle days. Consider this more like 4.5 stars.

Like the guy, but what's going on this season? How could this last place team suddenly rocket to first and become one of the NBA's best? I'll tell you why: Four of their players, including Ray, are in the last years of their contracts. Seattle, don't get fooled like Detroit did with Rasheed Wallace. Trade or dump this guy; after he's signed, he'll return to his horrible form and be virtually untradable. It's time for the NBA to crack down on these jokes. At least Steve Nash has earned his exorbitant contract. A lot of players don't, unfortunately.

Ray Allen is cold. Great pure shooter, we needed someone with his caliber of shooting the Olympics. He also has hops and plays more aggressive than people give him credit for.

Major league cry baby! Poor defense and chitty dribbler.

Ray and Dirk are the best pure shooters in the league. Who the hell ranks either one of these two terrible? Answer: Those who hate the Sonics and/or Mavericks and those who are on crack-cocaine... and some who love Allen Iverson.

I think Ray Allen is a wonderful player, not only is he a scorer on the court, he does things in the community. Overall he is just a wonderful man.

Good player and a great shooter.
jamestkirk 09/02/2003
He is in my top twenty in the league. Certainly good, but not great. Dangerous perimeter player who can help Seattle quite a bit if they surround with a great cast and a more than decent low-post player.
gummocatkilla 05/24/2003
Future NBA Hall of Famer for sure. Ray Allen is so good it makes me wanna smack my mama.

Ray is a small market player who doesnt get the attention he deserves. He was voted by NBA General Managers as the most pure shooter in the league. His smooth "finesse" style of play has often labeled him as soft, but he plays through injuries and gives 100 percent every night.

Probably the NBA's best pure shooter, Allen has beautiful form on his jumper, and his range extends to 25 feet easily. The best way to play him is to crowd him, get your hand in his shot pocket, make him force a shot or put it on the floor, but he's gotten better at catching and making a move to the basket, finishing hard. He's really at his best when they run him off multiple screens for his shot, and he will pull in a hurry. Quick release. I question whether he'll be the same guy coming back from injury, but as of now, when healthy, he's the best shooter in the east.
thekeator 05/17/2002
he sucks, and is nothing compared to Iverson.
yoshislink 05/10/2002
amazing 3pt shooter.
ellajedlicka21 11/19/2001
There is one obvious strong point in Allen's game: he can hit the long rage jumpers. I would like to commend him on his acting performance in the 1998 Spike Lee movie He Got Game.

Ray Allen is what the NBA needs. A great player and human being.
Wiggum 05/26/2001
I didn't realize Ray Allen hasn't missed a single game in his entire 5-year career. Not only is he talented, he's tough and consistent. I hadn't watched him all that much until the current playoffs - which, since Allen plays for a small-market team, is probably true for a lot of other casual basketball fans, too. And that's a shame - he's an impressive player who deserves a brighter spotlight. But I'll hold off on giving him five stars until (and if) I see him take the Bucks past the 76ers.

I love watching Ray Allen play. Talk about a player with some skills. He is such a tough match-up. He can shoot lights out, but if you try to get up in his face, he'll blow right by you and jam over your center. I don't understand why the NBA hasn't tried to market him more. After all, he is a great player who is clean cut and regarded as a good guy. Even if the NBA doesn't wise up, Allen will continue to be one of the best players in the league.

needs to work more on defence. but i love his SWEET shot it makes me get all warm and fuzzy.

Because of his superior skills and cool demeanor, Ray Allen is on the cusp of NBA-stardom. He's got a killer jumper and major hops. Vince Carter may get a lot of print for his dunks but Ray can flat out elevate and pull off some monster flushes. Plus, if you leave him alone outside he'll destroy you with his crazy range. He's the new "Baby-faced Assassin" in the NBA.
