This Congress does not care what the public thinks. They will all be voted out of office someday over the missteps they are making now. Unfortunately there are more stupid, do nothing liberal out there than there used to be.

I like the idea of Lower taxes, doubt protesting will make a Difference though, sadly.

I don't know-this is so silly and won't do any good-why don't they protest the high price of gas or cigarettes or even bread and milk, (although milk prices may be going down).

I think this is very significant because it is showing that the people are getting sick and tired of Washington and high taxes. Congress passes what they want regardless of what the people that put them in office want, the bailouts, the stimulus. This is truly what our forefathers protested in the original Boston Tea Party - Taxation without Representation.

It'll go down in history along side the Million Man March but with a less funky vibe.

Damn! The leftos got the vapors over this event, and I missed it. I was in Detroit and heard of the Tea Party at Troy, Michigan. That is in the suburbs. I had time but didn't go. Had I known that all the liberals would get dewy drawers because of this event, I would have gone.

More significant than some would have you believe.

There is a strong undercurrent of discontent, especially in the middle classes, over taxation to subsidize failed corporations and debt spending on the part of the Federal Reserve and the government. People are also beginning to understand that the federal government's bailout schemes basically amounts to a massive wealth re-distribution scheme--money is essentially going from middle class taxpayers to subsidize the Wall Street financial firms. That the tea party movement was hijacked by anti-Obama Republican party operatives is beside the point and probably takes away from the message overall. This is much bigger than partisan politics. There is public opposition rising to the bailout-spend-tax ethos permeating Washington.

I suspect that the Tea Party Protests are just the beginning...

This is just the beginning folks. A tee-shirt that read "elephants and asses screwing the masses" sums up this movement pretty well.

Update: Abichara is correct in his assertion that some Republican politicians are attempting to hijack this movement. What should be pointed out however, is that it is not working. Better late than never, people are waking up.
Police estimate in my home town put the crowd this past Friday at approximately 10,000. That is not counting the 3 ACORN employees.
Congressman Gresham Barret was literally booed off the stage- he is a Republican.
This is about people being fed up with the feds ignoring the Constituion and screwing the average person in the process.
Those of you who want to laugh it off, or lie and say that it is sponsored by Fox News...knock yourselves out.
Just the beginning....

I love the cause and understand the cause, but I dont think it will accomplish much. The government quit listening to the American people along time ago.

Unless the sheep are even more gullible than they've been for over a quarter century, this corporate sponsored non-event isn't going to have much impact on an electorate that's temporarily benefiting from Obama's largess with borrowed money that the suckers (all of us except those who benefit from tax loopholes for the very rich, or those too poor to owe any taxes anyway) will end up paying for... perhaps in blood?

Guess the rednecks had plenty of time to kill. . .

Worthy of news coverage to be sure. . .but the shrill complaints from this crew elicited yawns and blank stares from the intelligent. This crew supported the last administration's silent or overt embarrassing stance on torture (no protest). This group woke up and wanted something done about gov't spending when their 'conservative' spent like a sailor on leave (no protest). And this crew barks about the Constitution when the same dubya-whores looked the other way when Prince Cannot Speak treated the Constitution as an afterthought (no protest).

Points about spending and governmental powers would have made (perhaps) for an interesting debate concerning government. . .if only they weren't such lap-dogs when their boy was in power.

And the gutless lee-brul media didn't point out the obvious- it was a middle-aged white-boy show who dragged out a few cows and children to pretend that it wasn't a middle-aged white-boy show.

Lots of stink for a guy who hasn't held the job long enough to do any near the damage the last guy did. . .

Mixed bag in my opinion. Not the Protesters 101 crowd, which is a plus, but on the other hand its not incredibly hard to motivate people to bitch about taxes and government spending, regardless of their politics. While it made for an interesting newsday, I'm not sure the protest, as such has much leg. So far I see it as a event, not the beginning of a movement. This needs more time to see its significance.

Not real significant, except that these are not your habitual protestor-types. Most of these people are too busy working to engage in such activity. CNN did themselves a big favor by sending a little activist out with a chip on her shoulder, I think in Atlanta. That clip is worth a chuckle.

What is worth watching and analyzing is the divergence of media coverage. The alphabet soupers (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, etc) downplayed the size and significance and attempted to obfuscate the message of the protestors. It's sad but if you wanted to know what went on, sans bias and ideological agenda, you had to be tuned in to FoxNews. It's the only news source that gave a clear identification of why people were upset.

CNN's activist/reporter actually called it an "anti-CNN" rally. Like CNN is sssooooo important. MSNBC is still trying to get any and all Bush-Administration members hanged and the networks (the big, old networks) tried to laugh it off like the protestors didn't really "know" what the excitement was all about. Get used to that divergence of message and ideology. It ocurs on every issue. And whom do you trust for no bias, no bull? Right. Campbell Brown.

This is a non-event in my mind. People usually bitch about taxes this time of year, and this was just a bit of organized bitching. It gave the news channels a few easy segments to produce, and it will be forgotten quickly.

All I can say is it caused an awful lot of traffic congestion which I found incredibly irritating. I'm sure that everybody that was protesting thought that the cause was worth it, but you know what? I didn't!

This teabagging was so full of fail it really was kinda funny. Literally hundreds of people turned out to protest a variety of causes. I can't quickly improve on this summary:

The watershed moment in our current political life came earlier this week, when a bunch of jackasses protested a tax increase that won’t happen for years and will happen to other people when it does by aimlessly waving teabags at their elected representatives, or, when those representatives could not be located, at baffled passersby.

I attended the Tea party in Troy Michigan. I talked to a lot of people there, many were democrats. The message was consistent and non partisan. Quit over spending and quick over taxing.
