Overall Rating:2.90 based on 52 ratings
Born in 1969, Steve Smith was selected out of Michigan State by the Miami Heat as the fifth overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. After three seasons in Miami, the 6-8 guard was traded to the Atlanta Hawks during the 1994-95 season, where he would later be selected to his first NBA All-Star game in 1997-98. In 1999, Smith was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. (Add picture)

Class act, both on and off the court. Although I am an avid Lakers fan, I was secretly rooting for the Blazers in the western conference series and Steve Smith had a lot to do with that. His solid presence on the court and ability to convert easy looks into baskets makes for great basketball. I hope to see Smith playing a larger role in the Blazers offense next year.

I remember going to watch a Michigan State / Villanova NIT game a bunch of years ago, and this guy named Steve Smith, with very little fanfare, came out and scored 40 against the 'cats, and won the game almost singlehandedly. Ever since that day I have appreciated this guy's skills. It's also somthing that he donated $1M to his college - how many athletes do that?
