RunKeeper Free 4

I love this app! I am not a serious runner but do enjoy an occasional jog. This app is awesome for tracking average speed, total speed, etc. My favorite feature is the map- which makes me feel quite accomplished! The only reason I'm not rating 5 stars is because it really drains the battery of my iPhone3GS.

RunKeeper Free 4

When I first got my iPhone I bought a Nike+ to use with it. It wasn't too bad when I went out walking but it didn't really do much and couldn't track my cycling.

The great thing about RunKeeper is that it works for many different activities including cycling which means I can keep track of when I go out on my bike, how far I travel, what my average speed is and I can also see my route on a map with a run down of changes i speed and altitude.

It even connects to Twitter so you can automatically tweet maps of your activities.

The accuracy isn't perfect, but it's very close! I think the better the GPS signal you can get the more accurate it will be. Only downside I've really found so far is that when cycling in to work this morning I found it stopped my iPhone from sleeping so it was switched on in my pocket for the entire journey.

If you want to see an example of the maps it produces, here is a link: http://bit.ly/10ghcX

Also, you may wonder whether to get the Pro or the Free edition - the only difference is that the free one does not have voice prompts and is ad supported.
