Oh wow! I got this service to have my own internet (separate from my parents), and I couldn't get the internet to work on my Playstation 2, so I called and canceled. When I called to cancel I waited and waited. When I got through I told the women on the phone I didn't want the service. She asked the typical questions why and can I do anything to change your mind. I told her no I will deal with what I have. She offered me a FREE cd with Norton on it. I told her no I just want the service cancelled. She said I'll send you the FREE cd. At this point I just want this over and say whatever. When I got the cd I threw it in the trash. Here it is TWO months later and I get an email that they tried to charge my account but it was denied. I call Customer Service and get to do more waiting. When I finally get to someone who can help me we go over my problem and we start off real nice. When I tell her I didn't agree to the service I have to tell her several times I didn't want the cd I didn't wan... Read more

Before I start off with my review, first let me just say I didn't try the actual service, but I'm giving it a bad review because of dealing with customer service when asking questions about the dial up service.I started looking around for a new ISP for a cheaper price and netzero seems to be the lowest so why not try there?I called them up and had to wait a few minutes just to be connected with someone, as soon as I got connected I noticed right away from the accent that Netzero's customer service must be located in India and had a few problems understanding the representative but could manage.I started asking a few questions like the simple stuff that everyone should know like about unlimited internet access and billing information and the guy I suppose becoming irritated at this point hangs up the phone on me. Just terrible customer service on Netzero's part for getting rid of what could have been a potential customer.

I've been a paying member ($9.95 @ month) of Netzero since 2001 (even longer if you count free service). Prior to that I've used other ISPs: AOL; AT&T Worldnet; Peoplepc; Earthlink; even a local ISP and I've found Netzero to be the best for price and service. Sure, I've had problems (getting disconnected; slooooow download speeds; etc.) but I've also had those same problems with the other, more expensive, ISPs. I figure if I'm going to have problems I may as well go with the cheapest ISP available, that way at least I'm not paying an arm and a leg. I even tried their DSL and it worked well. I found out that they get their DSL from Verizon but I didn't have near the problems my mom does with her Verizon DSL and she pays way more than I did. The only reason I gave it up was the high cost compared to dial-up. The nice thing about their DSL is that I was able to connect on our 2nd computer via dial-up while our 1st computer was also online. I don't trust remote connecting in an apartmen... Read more

Had netzero, tried to cancel and they kept taking money out of my account, and the service is crappy as well as the high speed, kept getting booted off and so many pop ups, half the time could not get signed on, only good thing cheap, but you get what you pay for, would not recommend this, better off going to rip off comcast for cable internet, service.

Better than most other dial-up ISP's. Dial-up is dial-up so there are times when it completely sucks...and other times when it is okay. When the 'hi-speed' feature is working it runs fairly fast but when that fucntion craps out it seems to take forever just to log off.

It is better than AOL or MSN, definitly faster and it only costs $9.95 for their Platnium service. The free service is terrible.

Platinum service a joke. Customer Service a joke. Their forced disconnections after "x" amount of time online a pain. Being rurally located and missing DLS and cable (a lot!), all other dial-up services (AOL, MSN, Earthlink)... any other service... has proven to be better than Netzero and their "platinum" service.

I tried to get their service setup for my mother-in-law...personally I think any dial up is a joke. However, once I installed netZero's software it was a no-go, nothing worked. When I called support they gave me a bunch of things to try, but none of it worked. I ended up calling 3 different times (and I'm guessing to three different countries) after the third time I got transfered right in the middle of my call with no warning what so ever...and then they told me they couldn't take anymore support calls because I had used up all of my free support...THEY NEVER EVEN SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!!! These people are a joke! Never use their service!

Using it now while waiting on Cable and must say that it's pretty quick for a dialup, and connects on first time, every time. Still can't wait for my cable service.

I am constantly losing my connections and having to reconnect. Also, it is difficult to log on sometimes. I also believe the netzero TV advertisement during log on bogs down my computer as it downloads a new advertisement every few days in the background. I am very seriously considering changing to Bellsouth or earthlink as I have found that you are better off paying the money if want decent internet service. Netzero is about 1 step above Wal-mart Connect (and that ain't saying much).

I've had Net Zero high speed for a year now. It is really good compared to other dial up services I have used. It is not intended to make music or video download faster, (and it wont). But it really makes web pages open up quickly as copmared to all the other dialup services I have used. The only two drawbacks I have noticed is that if it is connected & isn't used it will disconnect after about 45 min. & every day it will disconnect you after about four hours of continuous usage.

I have NetZero High Speed and it is NOT high speed. There is no such thing as high speed dial up. The price is ok because it's only 15$, as when I had AOL it was 20$ or so. And AOL, I think, is slower. Other than that the downloads are extremely slow. But like someone said, NetZero just keeps getting slower and slower and I'm always getting booted. I don't like this but I guess it's cheap and gets the job done. But, NetZero 'High Speed' is a joke.

Connection is really slow and I get disconnected a lot. It can be very frustrating. If it wasn't for the low monthly fee ($9.95 for unlimited) it would have gotten a 1 or 2 star. I have been netzero for about 5 years.

Netzero used to be OK. I Sign up for NetZero Platinum and the connection seepd is really bad. There support is bad the guy could not even speck english the support center might be located in India. I swiched back to earthlink. Also be carefull just because you order by the month they will auto bill you credit card for each month even after you cancell. The best thing to do is change your CC # before you cancell.

Netzero used to be OK. The last 6 months it keeps getting slower and slower. It's like a snail now, no matter what time of day you are on. It's getting harder to get on also and you get disconnected almost everyday. Even though it's only $9.95, it's not worth it. Also if you have ANY problem, even if it is caused by Netzero, they charge you $1.95 a minute for help. They just got to big.

The Netzero connection was difficult to obtain. Then, when I cancelled my service, they billed me for another month, even though I had specifically told them that I no longer wanted their service. They claim that the representative had offered me a free month, and that I had accepted. What a bunch of hogwash! Nice trick, Netzero! Imagine if they do that to 1,000 people, that means they make about $10,000 for just another month billed ($9.95 x 1,000). Please, if Netzero or another company bills you without your authorization, get on their case, and get your money back. It may be just $9.95, but if they do the same thing over and over, they are making big bucks. I will not recommend their service to anyone.

I have been in torment since I switched to Netzero (Platinum - the most expensive one, which is supposed to provide the best service!) I've been plagued with problem after problem, and so-called "live help" takes 24 hours or more and is incomplete, inadequate, etc., which means days and days go by with no resolution. Phone help - forget getting through! Now I have to switch again, and notify everyone in my address book. Don't make the same mistake!

My Mother had used netzero for years before she died just a couple of years ago, so when it was time for me to add another dial up to my list, I chose netzero because of the wonderful customer service they had always given her. Along with the reliability of being able to connect most any time one liked, this service just sounded like the reasonable choice. In our area, there are lots of access numbers, but I do have a beef, sometimes the system connects slow and once in a while it will seem to take forever and then you find your not connected fast enough and everything stalls. Usually if you will disconnect and reconnect things straighten out. I realize that some of this may be the phone lines fault in my area. Overall, I recommend this service. However, I wouldn’t recommend paying the extra a month for the latest gimmick that they’ve come out with. They are saying that you can get faster service out of the dial up for only around five dollars more a month. But if you read the ... Read more

It's very good most of the time. It craps out sometimes, but nothing is perfect in the net world. The bar it puts at the top of the screen is barely noticeable. At $9.95 per month, its better than paying $20 something for AOL or some other ISP. You CAN get anything you get from the others via this net connection. You just have to find what your looking for !!

That's it. They have gone too far with these constant banners and pop up advertisements. They must figure that if they annoy you enough, that'll make you give in and pay for their service. BAD STRATEGY! Also, they're starting to have connection problems just like AOL had. Hello. You have to be able to support your community of users. That's 2 big problems. Netzero needs to rethink their market strategies.

Had it both ways: unlimited for free, which was great; and, with their $9.95 service, which is better than paying more per month. Obviously Netzero has lost its edge -- too bad for all of us.

This service is bad news! It used to be good, but now that they've limited their hours to 40 a month, it just lost all my respect. Not only is the banner ad annoying and non-movable, they have this giant, full screen browser that comes up at the start ane makes you click on something before it will become a normal window you can close. Not only is it annoying, but I have to play games just to get it to connect. I have to add and delete access numbers to find the right one. This service made me completely give up on free internet services, and finally shell out the money for a respectable dial-up (Earthlink).

Second best ISP I've used (WinFire beats this one). (1) Because it's free (2) Because it's pretty fast compared to others. Hoever, the ad banner is too thick. Maybe a frame around the browser window would be better.

Sorry, but forcing your ad box to the CORNERS OF THE SCREEN is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen/heard. ALL WINDOW CONTROLS ARE IN THE CORNERS! You can't maximize the browser window without losing window control. GEEZ.

I downloaded Netzero a while back and recently began using it again and have been happy with it. You get used to the banner ads and it doesn't cover up anything on the screen (it is positioned at the top and browser window is smaller). Another good thing about it is that I was able to set up my work e-mail through it on Outlook Express so that I can send e-mails from that address. Most other services (pay or free)don't allow you to do that. There are also plenty of access numbers and the connection speeds are generally pretty fast. Overall, a good product.

Easy to install, easy to sign on, easy to use, and Free what more could you ask for? Sure there's a banner on the top of the window but didn't I mention it was free? Not too much to ask in my opinion. Also, they have tons of local access numbers. I use them to connect when I'm away from home. A must have for your laptop.

It's great because it's FREE! Also, except for that annoying banner, the connection is fast. They also have a back-up connection in case one is down. I don't get disconnected as much as the other free ISP's.

The biggest bonus is that this service is free! You can surf the web without paying anything. The downside is they are a sponsor screen that you must click on every 30 minutes or they will kick you off the server. Also, you are forced to watch annoying ads. Another downside is that the service is rather slow. Don't get NetZero unless you don't surf the web often.

The one good thing about NetZero is that it's free. That's a big factor, but in terms of usage, it's pretty poor. The server is always busy, making logging on an impossible task. Also, it has a taskbar that is on the desktop at all times. This is very annoying. It's a slow server too. The only good thing is that it's free.

I like the idea of free online because everyone likes free things. However, the service looks a little down-graded. The quality is not as good as other services. Sometimes it logs you off, therefore it can be very annoying and unproductive.

Proving once again you get what you pay for, Netzero's promise of a free internet acces is delivered, but just barely. Netzero's software is intrusive and resource greedy, bogging down the older systems used by many who desire free net access. Speed is iffy on the over worked connections, and dialing in can be an even greater chore than the infamous AOL. If in dire straights for a connection, it's functional, but otherwise it should be avoided.

Netzero is great for its price. Compared to AOL, it's not as easy to me, but for free I'm not complaining. However, the add banner that appears on the screen can be rather annoying. Still, I would put up with the banner for the free service.

The reason it's free is because it's incredibly slow, cumbersome, and net user friendly. You are better off paying some monthly fee for another provider. Slow connections and downloads are all extremely annoying.
