Now that I think of it, I've had quite a few problems with my Dell Latitude D600.  In the first couple months, it kept freezing up and I would have to remove the battery to turn it off.  I remember it being very frustrating trying to contact someone who could help. One time the laptop didn't turn back on and I had to have everything reinstalled.  Fortuantely my files were recovered by a computer tech at work.  I think after everything was reinstalled the problem stopped.  (Speaking of which I should probably back-up my files again....) The power cord stopped working about a year and a half ago and that was a big pain.  They replaced it, but I had to wait to get sent a new one, so I couldn't use my laptop during that time. Aside from the problems, I do like this laptop.  The size is great for me and I like the keyboard and screen.  The only regular problem that I have (daily) is that the touch pad (that I don't even use) gets stuck and it takes a minute to get back under control.  Very ... I am using a Dell Latitude. An utter disappointment. Imagine needing to replace the LCD for the second time and needing a keyboard for the third time over three years. Wake up Dell!!!

Overall a great value. The C600 series has problems with erratic mouse movement and hard drive failure but Dell has been prompt in making any repairs for me.

Curious if anyone has had problems running director mx with flash embedded off the cd-rom. Was able to run the flash separately without a hitch, but when running from the director mx caused video to stutter.

The newest crop of Laptops with Latitiude on them are a poor batch. Consistant hard drive failures, NIC outages, Motherboard failurs... The only bright spot in the year I've troubleshooted them have been the screen.

Windows NT/98/2000 Professional. No problems. Fast and easy to use. If you dont want the battery to die, then plug in the power supply cord.

I absolutely LOVE my Dell Latitude. It is very small and compact (I have the really, really small one), but it outperforms my HP desktop by a mile. My next desktop will be a Dell. "Dude, you're getting a Dell".

This is a very nice laptop. It is a little big in thickness, but length is relatively small, so you don't take up too much space on your desk. Very fast compared to the same mhz Sony laptops. The screen is very crisp and clear. Very easy to use network cards with the Dells.

Dell is fast, light, has great software, and the battery lasts forever.

The laptop is very reliable and its speed in the different Latitude models are a great deal. It is a little expensive though and the one main thing I don't like is that it is so heavy.

Dell is good in terms of customer service, however, after a year or two of using their laptops, myself and some colleagues experience a lot of problems with reliability. Sometimes, the laptop would just shut down by itself. Sometimes taking out the battery is the only option to shut down those are 2 examples of extreme problems. Sony laptops are more reliable and offers just as good customer service.

Dell computers are good and as the OS supported by its Windows 98, NT, and drives, it is the most preferred by me as a professional.

In notebooks, I prefer the Dell Lattitude series because of it's sleek look, Intel pentium processor, and light weight.

Batteries don't last long, and are extreamly expensive to replace, 175$-300!!!! Any parts, upgrades or periferals like docking stations are a gigantic rippoff. Dell wants to really screw you AFTER you buy his stuff.

Keyboard comfortable to use. Overall, functions properly with few "lock-ups". 233 P2 machine gives decent performace. Battery still lasts 1.5 hours. Recently began having screen problems on my 1.5 year old machine. May have to replace. Battery lock button recently broke off.

I've had only good experiences with Dell in general, and I covet the new Latitude model with the 15.4 in. screen. That's *huge*, and allows it to fully replace a desktop. Reasonably priced, too, given that it also comes with a PIII.
