DON'T give them your phone number! Some people there(or maybe this is the policy) can be so annoying... I made an online account but wasn't sure which club to join or when... but they were so desperate to land members that I even got 10 missed calls from them in one day!!!

24 Hour in SAN CARLOS is the pitts. The management can care less about its customers. I've complained about daycare staffing, hours and cleanliness of the gym. Also beware there was a recent article that cars and lockers are getting broken into. The monthly dues are low, but some things are easy fixes and can be easily addressed. Daycare hours are either for stay at home moms or parents who get off work at 5:00pm. The Daycare hours need to be expanded from afterschool hours. There aren't many children in daycare from 5pm-8pm - that's when kids are doing homework, eating dinner and getting ready for bed. There is not adequate staffing for the daycare. 6 Children maximum capacity for the hundreds of customers is not balanced. Cleanliness is another issue - someone in an orange shirts walks around with cleaing supplies but the place never seems clean. The spinning room has puddles of sweat that are never mopped up. The airconditioner needs to be repaired, however, they don't... Read more

Buyer beware if you purchase a training package. Due to a severe medical condition I could not finish the training sessions by the end of the stated contract period. I submitted doctor's notes, kept in frequent contact with the trainer who kept the fitnes manager updated on my condition. When I tried to resume the training sessions, I was told that I had to submit a request with another doctor's note and now it will take 1-3 months for the divisional director of fitness to make decision as to whether or not to reinstate the remaining sessions. It has now been over a month and I am still waiting. I called the 800 number and was told the director would get back to me in 2-3 days. Two weeks later I'm still waiting. I don't know if this is corporate arrogance or ineptness. Don't expect any customer service from 24 hour fitness.

I belonged to Bally for six years and I find 24-hour much better. The equipment is better, the hours are better, the management is much friendlier. I would recommend 24 hour over Bally any day.

I belong to a beautiful 24 hour in Bakersfield with pool-most everything is great except pool closes 12-4am & now a waiting list, it is hard to get my 1 hour swim in every other day. I am vacationing in Santa Cruz next week & they say they are a sport 24 hour & it will cost me $10 to exercise. I joined 24 hour over 6 years ago & since updating my card, I get told often when traveling that my card is not good for their fitness. Bakersfield has more to offer than any of these & I belong there but not at these other 24 hour sport ones. Why?

I was a member after leaving a very costly fitness club were the dressing rooms were always clean and there was never a shortage of locker space. What a huge mistake by joining 24Hr., so I cancelled my membership (so I thought?) I just noticed my bank statement for the last 2 months and am still being charged!! The only answer I got from their customer service was so do you want to cancel it now? No refund, just a cancel from this point on. I feel the fees that have been stolen from my account is worth the price of negative advertisment. Lesson learned: You get what you pay for! M. Rosenbaum Denver, Colorado

Be forewarned that any minors you have on your plan cannot be removed from your account at your discretion. The minor has to do it! Our club is conveniently located to us but it is FILTHY. I have seen open safety pins, straight, pins on the floor in the shower room. There was a sign in one of the showers caution, broken glass. There is enough hair in the drains to cover a thousand bald heads and the mildew is 3rd and 4th generation growth. The music is ear-splitting in the weight room and the staff are bored. I'd like more people from Santa Cruz to comment. Otherwise, I love it! Clare Finelli

Doing business with them is little different than other gymns, or used car dealers. Multiple pricing schemes are confusing, rarely do they publish prices (of anything including dollar products). Their favorite is x percent off. Best membership deals are in the second half of the year, and in the last few days of the month. I got a good deal by insisting I wasn't going to pay their $34/month any longer. After a bit of negotiation they discovered an option of prepayment of one year at $34, the following two years free, and subsequent years are $4/month FOREVER!!!
