I never use Yahoo. With so much crap on their sites, the search engine takes way too long. And why should I use Yahoo when I have Google?

Yahoo as a search engine is terrible. Especially doing a photo search. I usually yield zero photos with Yahoo but dozens using Google picture search. As an email application, it's good for what it's made for, but it comes with hella glitches. It's a free email service so I don't expect gold.Yahoo News is the only real decent part of this website. It's up-to-date, thorough, and I read the headlines several times day. Much user-friendly than CNN.com.Yahoo Comics is awful. Most days it's not updated, and their support doesn't "support" any complaints or suggestions regarding that part of Yahoo. The new Yahoo Homepage interface is awful and extremely glitch-y. It's cumbersome, confusing at times, and windows pop open if you accidentally mouse over certain parts of the page. Then it takes a couple of seconds for the page to close on it's own so that you can continue your cursor journey to the link you were running after. I think Yahoo has bitten off more than they can chew with sub-standard services, a page full of glitches and such small search results with the search engine, it's hardly worth it.

they're a bit of an underdog when you put them in front of Google, but they do have a few useful applications....namely Flickr.

Not my search engine -- GOOGLE is

I have never found Yahoo services to be to my liking. I use the service rarely and find it to be scattered and not coordinated. Google services win hands down in every comparison.

The lady at the public library showed me how to get a Yahoo account. It wasn't too hard.

i never go there

This is a favorite of mine and I have an e-mail account there.

Woohoo.

I don't really use yahoo for search. I think they have some great tools outside the realm of search that i use pretty often, but their critical functionality doesn't offer me the results I need most of the time.

oh, all I can say is cookies. cookies and more cookies.

Ok another one of my internet loves!

I used to use Yahoo as my home page... back in 1998. Unfortunately aside from a few great properties like Flickr and Delicious, they've been overwhelmed by spammers.
twansalem 06/04/2008
I use MyYahoo!, which is pretty handy, and I do like Yahoo!Music (I had an account back when it was launchcast, so I kept using it), but that's about it. I have a Yahoo! email address, but I don't use it for anything.

my email is on it. it has unlimited storage it great!

Yahoo! has a ton of great tools including Delicious, Flickr, Y! Site Explorer, Y! Finance, their fantasy sports site, and even their search is pretty good (but not as good as Google). But the fact that Google beats them in search seems to have covered with the whole company with this cloud of despair. Snap out of it Y! - you're better than that.

Yahoo is alright, but I tend to like Google better. My Dad says that Yahoo is bad for your computer. He says that if you work on Yahoo you are making your computer more vunerable to hackers and such. I don't know if this is true, but I have noticed in the past that my computer freezes up sometimes while I am on Yahoo.

Too much extra curricular crap

Yahoo isn't my main internet source, but, I use it because I like all the features, games, music, e-mail, groups, and more. It's all free too.

Equal or better than Google on virtually all searches. More services and I trust them more to be non-biased than Google.
X Factor Z 03/30/2005
The search engine is hampered by the usual commercial listings and sponsored links, which always take priority. As a portal its almost par excellant? The groups, games, news et el makes Yahoo a good way to waste some time.
texasyankee 03/30/2005
don't like it, too cluttery and hard to find what you really want
Randyman 03/12/2005
I use Yahoo all the time. I've never had a problem.

You can check my member profile. Yahoo is my favorite site. I love their email and music services.
VirileVagabond 08/31/2004
With a few esthetic tweaks, Yahoo's search engine seems to be nearly identical to Google. The search is quick and can be narrowed using categories. On top of all of this, the biggest advantage is that Yahoo! has so many other features that one doesn't have to go to another site (eg Google) to perform the search.
Mr.Political 07/30/2004
Functional and offer many useful links, however Google earns five stars.
BeatlesfanStev eo 07/11/2004
Good but google is better.

Yahoo! is the best search engine by far. Great features and online gaming that totally rocks!!!
DaRick 04/18/2004
Yahoo is a very reliable search engine which always delivers accurate results. Google is still more accurate but Yahoo are starting to hold their own in the world of search engines.
kingsebron 04/16/2004
I love Yahoo!! It has SO MANY cool features and i'd say its my favorite website. I mean think about it you can get a file get points in the amaizing games. So just the gaming part is good enough to be a great website but then Yahoo's got e-mail, messenger, personals.. Yahoo! Rocks!!
DickWeener 02/11/2004
Google all the way....Yahoo takes to long to load compared to Google..
barfooz 12/29/2003
My homepage for 6 years. Nothing beats Yahoo for usefulness.
mikeholly93 10/28/2003
The best Internet provider ever! great e-mail service and news, tv schedule, and weather pages too! Only downside is too many pop-up ads!
Mario500 10/25/2003
Yahoo may have been your first stop to search for web sites when connecting online for the first time, since it's been helping shape the web we all know and love for years now. Not only does it have a search engine, which is now operated by Google, but it has many other features as well, such as message groups, stores, games, and auctions. The only things that I'm sure many users complain about are the constant ads that many put up with through areas such as the message boards. Yahoo may not be the greatest engine, but it's still the best place to get to know a little more about the web.
Earthsun 10/07/2003
Ad content is distractive.
ponerse 06/02/2003
A great site for information, but a portal that tries to make you buy something with every click.
ylikone 05/23/2003
Why use this when google is available??!
BIGBABY 02/01/2003
Yahoo is really a good search engine. Going straight to Google is easier, though.
addicted 10/25/2002
they have cute commercials on tv, and their website is pretty helpful
MsVJP 10/16/2002
I don't know who wrote the search algorithims for Yahoo, but they are AWFUL. They could learn a lot from Google.
gOoSe 06/28/2002
I really like the whole network... The search engine is perfectly indexed... The mail is quick and safe... The groups are easy to communicate with other people... I love it!
