We are a staffing company and its been 4 months I moved from Dice to Monster and absolutely regret my decision. I am losing my business due to Monster. When I post an ad I don't get any resume and when I search for resume I don't get the proper once. Was trying to get out of Monster but they don't give me any choice to do that even though I am ready to pay come compensation. I wish I could go back by 4 months and not sign for Monster. Trust me I do not want to go for Monster. - Ganesh

monster is very good job serch site, every body use this website and take the job and get the work and earn money and enjou their family, lot of job is there liki home based jobs, partime jobs, full time jobs, i thanking you monster & I find Monster.com to be a great website to post your resume on. It is very easy and straight forward. I have found jobs for myself and my fiance in the past using their website. They even send emails of jobs you may qualify for when they become available. I would recommend this website to anyone. I have already recommended it to my mom who is currently seeking work. She gets on Monster.com daily now to see what's available to her and applies for what interests her. This really is a great website.

I hadn't been on Monster for a couple of months but after checking it out yesterday I will NEVER use this site again for job seeking. I couldn't even scroll down to look at the job postings without and advertising window popping up. And there was no way to close it either. What's even worse is the information you start filling out thinking it's part of your Monster profile or some such thing only to realize you are filling out information for some online school that you have no interest in. There are too many other great online job websites to waste my time with this nonsense.

Monster .com is a very old and help site in employement of various jobs. they provide a quite helpful guidance to the job seekers to get proper jobs and also in turn help the job providers i.e. employers in getting good and enthusiastic employees for their companies. monster.com have captured good name in the market of employment in todays world. So i too have registered with monster and they are providing good job opportunities to the job seekers.

As an employer, now I know why it is difficult to find good employees or for good employees to find you! We know NOT TO go to Monster.comWe decided to try Monster.com for the exposure that we thought it offers and hoping to attract qualified candidates. They advertised a 25% "sale" on the 60-day listing, so we took the bate. As you go deeper and deeper into the posting and setting up the listing, you realize that there are a lot of "ifs and buts". For example after the purchase and completion of the transaction, we come to find out that while we are in Tysons Corner, Virginia, a mere 9 miles from Washington, DC. Monster considers Washington DC a different territory and they wanted to double the $288 fee (to $576). The only criterias we specified is proximity and experience. So they limited our exposure to candidates in McLean/Arlington, VAAs we were advertising for a "travel agent" and in this market, we were expecting multiple qualified candidates, but were shocked to receive only 6 resumes in 7 days from places such as Kenya (in Africa), and candidates that were totally unqualified. In searching the "Posted resumes" which we understood required an additional charge of several hundred dollars, (we were given a free 2-day peak), there obviously were not any qualified cadidates (who were willing to pay the exorbitant charges) of Monster. So after one week, I requested a pro-rated refund, and the response was a terse: "Our policy is: no refunds".The bottom line is this: if you can't find people on the self proclaimed #1 website for hiring after you pay a nice sum of money with unemployment being around 10% and people in all industry clamoring for jobs, then when?We wrote off the $288, and will never ever do business with Monster.com again (we have 3 more hires by year end)

Monster.com is an all right website if you're looking for employment, but I've certainly encountered better. I definitely prefer using employmentcrossing.com over monster, because it gives you a wider variety of jobs to choose from. Monster only shows you job listings that employers pay to post, whereas a few other websites (such as the one previously mentioned) show you job postings from any website, including the employer's website. So as far as variety goes, Monster.com was not a winner.

I'm an employer and was looking to hire 3 people fast. Monster took my $400 and gave me a bunch of excuses about "employer validation". They dragged their feet with lies and excuses about technical issues while I went elsewhere to do my hiring. They took forever to give me access to the resumes that they said had matched my criteria. That's unfortunate for the prospective employees that paid their money to monster but who's resumes will never be viewed by a legitimate employer. They allow tons of spam and junk but make it brutally difficult for legitimate employers to find employees. All of the positive reviews below are most definitely from monster.

Have you guys tried elance.com to get freelancing jobs?I have been providing software development service in elance for a while. It actually works pretty well. Initially it is relative harder to get a project, but once you make your name there (after few good deliveries), you will get steady projects. Also, there are good payments as well. Lot of serious buyers out there. If you are interested in more details, feel free to post a message here and I can give you several good tips.

For an employer, this site is super expensive. Its ±$390 to post a job 8 weeks. And to search resumes its over ±$400 a week! Recruiters, headhunters and employers should post their jobs on places like WhateverJobs.com where all that is free.

sitting at one place any one can just find out the requirements which are avilable in the market.dont you think this is the better way for searching job.

absolutely horrendous. extremely NON-USER friendly. if i had the skills to understand this mess, then a career the e.s.p. is imminent. how this is the largest employment website is beyond me. if looking for a job is a job, why in the world would they format it THIS way? i posted a resume on the site (i think) but cannot SEE it to verify it's accuracy (much less edit). further, when i tried to ask for help, all i get is a tutorial (as though a tutorial covers all scenarios). what were they thinking? is this an I.T. joke showing how savvy they are? or, was someone smoking dope?

Obviously, they make too much money listing bogus opportunities to weed out the schemers. If they only listed 12 opportunities but they were all legitimate, employers & job seekers would be much better served.

I have only just signed up to monster so this might be a bit of an erly review. However i found the process of createing my account very hard to do. Im quite good on computers so dont usually have this problem. However the forms kept breaking. Error messages came up. The spell check was rubbish - freezing the page when i tried to change a spelling. I found myslef repeating the same things in different sections, and didnt see how some of the questions and sections were relervent - what ever you might be looking for.Overall i just found the site very confuseing and un-clear. Did anyone else have this issue?

I'm not much into conspiracy theory, but I feel like Monster.com is paying these people to post all these positive reviews. Look at all the older negative reviews, but all of the sudden people just love the service.I signed/created an account to monster.com recently and here is my take so far. I was browsing through the database (with the filters) for an entry level banking/financial field job, but found myself flooded with irrelevant job postings. Going through the page I find that the listings are scattered with nursing, engineering, IT, Programmer, and other random jobs. Keep in mind that this is with the filter on for certain job positions (I am not qualified to or even in the same field as the listings) and never selected anything similar on my profile. The worse of it is that I am now flooded with junk mails..

Monster.com is THE place to go if you want to find a job quickly and efficiently. It takes mere seconds to produce the job listings you are searching for. Look no farther than Monster for the perfect job is waiting right here for you.

I used to feel like Monster was the crappier of the job search engines. Scattered, and lots of "work from home, make $5,000 a week" ads, lots of insurance jobs, financial advisor...all stuff with no base. However I filled resumes for sales so keep that in mind. With specialized fields, recruiters do use monster, hotjobs, careerbuilder, dice...they use everything, so it doesn't hurt to post resumes on each site. I speak from experience when i say that for a typical sales rep job, if it's a decent one employers will get between 75-500 applicants. So if you're in that ball game, or something general like accounting or HR, instead of applying to all those job ads you are much better off simply posting your resume on all the sites and waiting for folks to call you - while focusing your efforts on networking and researching companies you'd like to work for. When posting your resume, remember recruiter searches are based on two things: relevancy and date. So if you're a sales guy flood your resume with words like sales, sales rep, account manager. And re-post your resume once or twice a week- actually go in there and delete your old one and re-upload so that your resume remains newly posted. Takes two minutes but recruiters generally only look at what's on the top of the list, and unless you're a nuclear physist you are going to be one of a thousand resumes.

From experience I can say that Monster works very well. When I joined this service I could navigate its resourses easily and managed to get back on my feet in no time. This service is also very good from the employers point of view in that it provides an excellent area to find able workers.

Monster.com is an awesome website if you are looking to find a job, also if you are an employer looking for employee's. I personally used this site and found a construction job out here in idaho, and am still working for this same company making $13.75 an hour. THANKS MONSTER.COM!!!

I was a customer of Monster.com from the business side. What once was a cutting edge company has grown too large for its own good. They are nice people, but completely incompetent when it comes to the regulations that companies need to comply with. They can't even provide reports in the way a company requests them to. If you are someone who is looking for a job through Monster, good luck! You will get lost in the quagmire of data that they can't even report on or look at themselves. Go to CareerBuilder instead!!!

Nothing but good things to say about Monster.com. I posted my resume on the site and was contacted immediately. I have an Interview coming up!!! They have enhanced the site so much. If I were you, I would check it out. You have the ability to set up a profile, a web page and so much more. WAY TO GO MONSTER!! Glad to see you have joined the web 2.0 world! One last note, check out the career advice section, there are so many useful articles!! Good luck on your job searching!

I have been pursuing a new career path about a year ago. Have posted for SEVERAL jobs on monster.com and have yet to receive contact from ANYBODY! As somebody who is very qualified for most of these jobs, I find it kind of insulting...what a waste of time. There is a feature where you can check on the progress of your application. Out of probably 15 applies in the last year, only two (2) have even been viewed...the rest have remained in 'received' status. I mean honestly, do they just collect resumes and applications and NEVER even look at them? Why would companies waste their time posting jobs on monster.com if they don't even look at candidates? Most people tell me that going to monster.com is a waste of time. I'd believe it, except I did get a great job about 10 years ago through monster.com. I would say it's gone 100% downhill since then. Wow. Do not waste your time.

Ever since I started using Monster I get about 30 spam emails a day. I have gotten more junk calls about undisclosed company wanting to verify my application, oh yea and about 10 online colleges a week. All jobs I have applied for after contacting the company were filled. ( I do realize that is the companies responsiblity to update) My point is the only job I have gotten from Monster is unsubscribing from email list and telling junk callers I am not interested. Oh yea and telling online colleges to bite me... Sorry Monster 2 thumbs down, and one Middle finer up..
pjcomeau 08/01/2008
If I find a posting on monster.com, I immediately go to careerbuilder.com, or to the companys website to see if I can apply for the position on another job board or on the company website. Monster.com is extremely cumbersome ad difficult to use, compared to CareerBuilder. Formatting is lost, account information has to be input again and again...the list goes on and on. It is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!

This site has only brought weak jobs to my attention.

Monster can be characterized by a simple-to-navigate website interface and huge database of positions from all career paths. Its database has almost 50 million resumes of the job seekers. You can look for job by category, location, employer, or keyword and save your searches as active search agents that are browsing the ongoing positions listings and notifying you by e-mail, sent to your inbox. However, this site is more than just a job search engine. It offers resume help and distribution, career advice, and networking capabilities. You get a free account with room for a resume, cover letters, and an online job application history to track your job search progress. You can also choose to use premium resume writing and publishing services for a small fee. Among attractive extra features, we want to mention MonsterTrack, offering special guidance to college students at the most complicated initial steps of the internship or first employment place search; Monster Networking, helping to connect people in the same field for potential leads and recommendations; Monster Mobile, transferring the job search featured capabilities to the mobile phones, and Monster Blog, where candidates can chat and exchange their advices and experience in different job-related fields. The only noticeable disadvantage of the site is extensive use of advertising, pop-ups, and special offers that might be distracting and might spoil the overall very positive impression of the site quality and effectiveness.

Monster.com - You may find some jobs on their site worth applying for, although I did not find my job through them and I don't value Monster as a company at all as you can see by rating for the following reasons: (1) They will send you TONS of emails that don't have anything to do with the job you are looking for or even location you are in at the moment, and I mean AN|YTHING; (2) it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get rid of these emails - you have to LOG IN to their site - update your password (in my case) to one with number and letters and nothing including "prohibited" words, and then deactivate your profile and hope in 10 days or so, the emails will stop arriving; remember, YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER YOUR PASSWORD, AMONG THE 100 OTHER PASSWORDS YOU HAD TO THINK UP IN YOUR JOB SEARCH - JUST TO STOP GETTING AT LEAST AN EMAIL A DAY FROM MONSTER FOR JOBS THAT DON'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO ONES YOU MAY HAVE APPLIED FOR THROUGH THEIR SITE; (3) SO, instead of focusing on the important stuff like correcting critique #1, based on critique #2, they think they are a bank and people are sitting there attempting to break into peoples' profiles they use to apply for jobs instead of the ones they could actually use - like banking profiles - come on?; and (4) just make it easy for us to stop getting emails from you like some other sites/companies - e.g., click here to unsubscribe -- get a clue - we're trying to get a job - don't you think we have enough things to do? good luck in you search and even if you have to use monster - WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THE EMAIL LINK IF YOU CAN OPT OUT, I'M GUESSING YOU CAN'T.

I liked them when the first came out, there were real companies on there trying to find hard working employees. Now it is just full of "work at home" pyramid schemes, priamerica, and temp services that will call you until you change your number. I look in the local newspaper before even thinking about that site.
MTiger_87 06/07/2005
They were good when they first come on the scene, but now it seems like there's 50% bogus home business listings. I use local sites.
magellan 03/23/2004
Although their user interface (especially on the employer side) leaves a lot to be desired, Monster.com is the best available site for both job seekers and employers. Why? Because it's all about scale. Just like an online dating service, the site that provides the numbers is going to be the best, as both employers and job seekers want options. The last I saw, Monster had well over 50% of the online job searches... Job hunting and recruiting are numbers games, and Monster can provide the numbers.
ethaves 03/19/2004
Poorly designed user interface, Monster constantly attemps to sell premium services and third-party products. Posting my resume on Monster has resulted in receiving many email from employment and other agencies trying to sell their services and emails from questionable firms. Monster.com is a complete waste of time. I recommend individuals identify employers they are interested in and pursue career opportunities directly through employer sites.
kamylienne 03/07/2004
As far as being user-friendly, this is a great site, but the main issue I have (which is a big issue for all the employment sites that I have visited), they seem greatly bombarded with a TON of ads from employment agencies, not from the companies themselves. If they could have a search option to eliminate postings from temp agencies, that'd be great.
resisobilus 02/17/2003
Big ad budget. Little use. I have yet to respond to a job they've suggested. This monster is all roar and no bite.
Jaded_Consumer 12/30/2002
I have been registered with Monster.com since 1998 and have been on the net since 1995 and I can tell you that online job boards are not good resources for finding a job. You may read the advice columns and forums and otherwise stay updated on interviewing but don't expect to find a job from **any** online job board. It is not realistic particularly in the current downturned economy. In fact, the good paying jobs that are available go to the buddies of those existing employees at the company with the vacancy so get out from in front of the computer and go network among living beings with a pulse. Don't expect to find a job online because it ain't gonna happen!
Saphire_dk 12/16/2002
Great concept at Monster.com. Inspiring, helpful and it makes it fun to be jobhunting, however the feeling of sending of your cv not knowing whether the employer actually has opened your application, and not getting a mail when the position has been filled, leaves you feeling a bit blind. Only way to get this working for you is to call companies after and check up whether application was received. Monster and the companies could do more for keeping applicants updated. Only experienced one company on there which actually followed up all the way through the process.
IMPULSECREWoCO M 03/25/2002
The Job listings at Monster.com are plentiful and well organized. However, I keep getting way to much junk mail sent my way that I attempted to opt out from. Overall it's a decent site for standard fair long term work but not even comparable to Elance for the IT/Development positions which are only contract based.
afterglow70 06/12/2001
I have had nothing but good luck w/ Monster. I have been on the job seekers forum for over a year now and have met some spectacular people. I am also been on the employer side of it too. I have never had a problem w/ receiving a resume, although they do not tell you if you are. The price that an employer has to pay to have one password (can only be used by one person or you are double charged)anually is outrageous though. I can not tell you on here, but I will tell you that you could buy a brand new cheap car w/ it.
