Excellent resource, but the ratings are SOMETIMES absurd, and the users can sometimes be anything but intelligent, but its still a great resource for cinema. Although sometimes, just like Wikipedia, anyone can just put in inaccurate info.

Best site for raw data about films ("Who played the butler in the 38th minute?") and chock full of great information - but am I the only one who thinks this website needs a makeover? Aesthetically, it needs some help. . .

Crappy site design, and not particularly easy to navigate around but a pretty valuable resource on films if you're looking for a quick piece of information. A lot of the reviews are way less than articulate, but that's to be expected in any site that encourages public participation. If I'm looking for intelligent reviews I'll go to RottenTomatoes or AllMovies.

Its probably a trivia fan's best friend with features including quotes, gaffes, back stories about the production, photos from the premiere and of all the stars as well as fairly ehaustive listings of cast and production credits. It also has a lot of information about American network television productions. The reviews are generally weak and inconsistent, relying on user submissions for the most part, which can range from useful to a waste of cyberspace. If it's reviews that are of interest, AllMovieGuide is superior. The site is also a bit of a scatter, partly to accomodate the multiple perspectives offered to users, partly design, partly revenue generating.

Not the best designed site in the world, but it sure is useful! Not only that but I often find myself going there to look up one thing, and then an hour later realise I've wandered off from what I went there for just from seeing the connections between different people and films.

Use it almost daily as I work in the film business. Very easy to navigete. I help people get their credits on IMDb if they're having difficulty.

I enjoy IMDb and have used it for years. I find it to have more complete information on actors, directors and films than does Rotten Tomatoes. However, it shows a distinctly different preference in movies than I do, making its ratings not as pertinent to my own likes as I wish.

This is a pretty handy site when you're trying to figure out random stuff like "Did Harrison Ford start making Indiana Jones movies before Return of the Jedi." And for those who want the answer to that question, it is yes. I just checked IMDb.com, and Raiders of the Lost Ark was 1981, Return of the Jedi was 1983.

This is overall the best site to go to to find out information about movies and actors. it has a very good layout, and is generally sparse of ads. Although it does use a type of ad that pops up as part of the page, and it blocks what you are looking at. You have to wait a few seconds to close it. Those are very annoying. Other than that, a very good site.

Excellent site, it would get a five if not for the message boards, they are absolutley ridiculous sometimes. Be prepared to see half the posts/topics about a movie be along the lines of "this movie sucks" or something similar. They can really ruin an experience if you let them. But the site itself if really good for looking up actors and their work and the like. Lots of knowledgable people, lots of not so knowledgeable people.

IMDB is good for looking up particular infomation regarding any actor working in the business as well as movies or anyone working in the industry, but the site looses two stars for their message boards alone. It is truly disgraceful. Half of those message boards are filled with rude, ignorant, ill-mannered teenagers who just simply don't know how to behave. Forget about trying to have a discussion as they wouldn't know how to do this even with their eyes closed.

IMDB is inaccurate. Many background performers post their "work" as actual credits. Example of a Background Performer: Todd Nasca. His credits are misleading. Extra credits: Karen Sisco, CSI Miami, AmerAsian 2, Justice, Crossing Jordan, Stuck On You, Ocean Avenue, Bad Boys 2, 2 Fast 2 Furious.

IMDb.com (Internet Movie Database) is a reference site for movies, television, and other similar visual entertainment (including projects still in production). One can search by movie title, actor, director, etc, and the listings include casting, actor/director biographies, dates of release, production credits, plot summaries, genre categories, average user ratings, and user reviews. There are no professional reviews. While IMDb is a useful and fun website (and includes headshots of the actors), I prefer the layout of AMG's competing allmovie.com (IMDB looking more cluttered and less professional in my opinion) which does have professional reviews yet less detail (though it doesn't have pictures of the actors.)

They *really* need to add the ability to rate television shows in addition to movies! But, they do have some good features like interesting trivia, and top and bottom lists. But, some shows are compeltely lacking in information or has incorrect information.

The best that I have seen so far. It covers movies from every angle; actor, director, movie title,etc..... Really easy to navigate. I never again have to ask, What was the name of that movie? or What was that actors name? Convenient and easy.

I havent seen any other sites, but that's because this site is the best. Do a search on whatever you want to find and you'll get there. It tells you all the movies and TV appearances someone has made. It lists every person who is in a movie. It even has links to photos of the stars. It even will tell you a little something about upcoming movies.

Imdb covers everything on both the small and big screens, from the 1890s (I highly doubt anyone living today has ever seen anything this old!) through today, making it one of the most informative sources for movies and television ever to exist in cyberspace.

I reluctantly give this site a 5. It is difficult to find such complete information about actors and characters anywhere else. My only complaint is that if you want to comment on a movie you have rated, you have to write a considerable amount (I believe at least 10 lines are required...or was it 20?). If you really only want to write 5 lines worth of commentary, forget it. Short reviews are not accepted. On one hand, I see this as a good thing. It prevents people from saying, Great movie! or This sux! without saying *why* they think what they think. On the other hand, does one really need to write a full essay, for example comparing a film with every other in its genre? I don't think so.

In my opinion, the best run and organized 'database' site on the Web. Massive amounts of information. I have never seen an ad for it, yet everyone seems to know about it. It is clean and easy to use, and seems to hold an unparalleled quantity of data relating to movies. It's especially fun to read the comments about the really terrible movies.

Best website to go to if you want to find out what movies or television shows an actor or actress was in during their career. List the most recent first, even ones in current production. Includes messagesboards, some have pictures of the stars, biographies and all has rankings(by fans) of the top 250 movies of all times.

A very convienient website which you will find on my computer screen a lot. When rating actors and movies here on RIA, I found myself checking back to this site a lot, espescially for a refresher course in the movies that certain actors have starred in. A very informative website about the entertainment industry.

This appears to be an appallingly inaccurate site. In the listings it has merged together two films I made as if they were one, and got the year of release wrong, as well as many of the other details. Another producer friend is credited with a film he has never heard of! When one contacts IMDB o try and get entries corrected, one is ignored. The danger is that people who don't know, think the information listed is accurate, and this can be damaging. There is a need for a reliable film and TV database, unfortunately IMDB is not it.

Good site to visit.Gives you great information on a movie you may be interested in watching. Includes what the movie is about, what actors are in it and what roles they play.has reviews by people who have seen the movie. If you have seen the movie yourself you can do a review on it and rate it. Very detailed site. I found it quite helpful.
