As a student in the School of Foreign Service, I deeply appreciate Georgetown's reputation as the premier Catholic research institution in the world. Also, studying in the most prestigious undergraduate school of diplomacy and international law in the world, I know that I am prepared to be more than a global citizen, I have the potential to be a global leader.

I graduated from the School of Foreign Service many, many years ago (let's just say that the launch of Sputnik coincided with my freshman year). Anyway, Georgetown was a great school then. Since then, in my experience, it has taken a long slide downward. The Jesuits have always been somewhat controversial within the Catholic Church, but I've seen too many instances of blatant anti-Americanism, what I feel is liberalism to the point of being anti-Catholic (don't get me wrong - I believe in academic freedom and expression, but anarchy is another thing altogether), and too many politically correct boutique courses. I think that Father Fritz Fadner (anyone out there know who I'm talking about? ) would spin in his grave if he saw some of the stuff going on there now.

Gorgeous place. . .quality graduate schools. Excellent local opportunities (Being in D.C. and all. . .) Very nice place to go to school. Bad things- boring white people that aren't as smart as they think they are. G-town is a money school for kids who couldn't get into an Ivy. . .but some act like real pretentious snobs. Other than the uppity student-body, G-town is a very decent (but expensive) school.

Georgetown has got to have one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Set high on a hill above the Potomac River, the campus combines Gothic looking stone buildings with modern buildings, with lots of grass, walkways, and lawns. The academics are top notch - especially in the Foreign Service and Government area, and the extracurriculars are good as well. As far as nighlife and restaurants, you have tons of options. There are about 200 bars and restaurants within walking distance. The housing situation is great as well, with lots of quaint looking DC style row houses made available to students. The campus has a large percentage of international students, which complements the cosmopolitan nature of DC very well. All in all, you can't go wrong with this school - my only complaint was the level of diversity of the non-international students - it seemed that everyone was from some prep school or another, and it got a little annoying.

I was in the College of Arts and Sciences, English major. I do not believe I could have had a better education. My professors were extraordinary. The size was just right to me - not too big, not too small. And, I loved the campus so much - leaving was really really hard. To me, Georgetown was home. My one complaint is how conservative the student body was at the time - not sure if this is still the case.

As a recent graduate from the School of Foriegn Service, I feel one of Georgetown's best assets are its professors. Many come from the field rather than academia-- they do or have worked at the Fed, CIA, State Dept, etc-- and provide a fresh and practical perspective. They also make great contacts after graduation.

Too often overlooked...Georgetown's a great school in a surprisingly youth-friendly city that offers myriad opportunities for work, internship, cultural experiences, etc. A caring and experienced faculty combined with truly friendly and inquisitive students makes for a positive campus environment...

This school appeals to people because it's in D.C. Outside of a great education, it provides tons of social and professional opportunities.

As a parent of a son who went there, I like the focus on liberal arts, with obligatory philosophy and theology. I would have liked the school more if it was more culturally diverse.

Great education, especially at the prestigious School of Foreign Service. Only negative is that some times you feel like the school treats you like a number, not a person.
