I purchased the Vornado VH2 Heater, but I returned it to the store after a few days. My wife and I owned a Lasko Ceramic Element 30" Pedestal heater for years, but this season it finally died. We chose the Vornado VH2 Vortex heater after reading some of the positive reviews. We live in the Northeast, have kind of a drafty apartment and we try to keep the heat low or off to save energy. The space heater goes into whatever room we are in and we use it to heat that room while we are there. Or we turn it on in the bedroom in the morning while we get ready for the day. After a few days, it was clear that the Vornado VH2 was not going to cut it. The unit blows heat, but it is very tepid compared to our other heater. We did notice that the Vornado VH2 (as many positive reviews here have mentioned) gives a very ambient warmth - meaning that it seems to spread the heat about the room very evenly. However, be warned, it takes a loooong time for it to even raise the tempera... Read more

I bought a VH2 for an infants room. It worked very well for a while. Then the ON/OFF switch stopped working. It is stuck in the ON position. It can not be shut off unless it is unplugged. This thing is a fire hazard. I was lucky that I shut it off in time before it started a fire in our baby's room. I called the Vornado company but they want $25 plus shipping to fix it. All it needs is the switch. I asked if I could just send back the control panel. I am an electrician. Not worth it! I will never buy another Vornado product again. They use cheap parts made in asia and then want to rip you off to fix it. Why are so many electronic items made to just be disposable. If it was just made with better quality it would last more than a couple of uses.

I send the following letter to the manufacturer which describes the problem: Vornado Air Circulation Systems Inc 415 E.13th Street Andover, KS 67002 I purchased a Vornado Vortex VH2 Heater from ACE HARDWARE in 2006 used it for six weeks and than again for 10 weeks in 2007. That is a total of four month. This year the fan wouldn't operate even though the heater was heating up. I opened the unit to examine the problem and here is what I found: The dust which enters the unit through its sides had accumulated around the shaft and worked its way into the motor housing where it accumulated at the end of the shaft. The shaft has about a 1/4 " clearance, that is you can push it back and forth by that much. Now the first 1/8" the propeller will rotate freely but when you push it all the way in it has so much resistance that it no longer turns but with force. Thus if I pull the propeller all the way forward and than tip the whole unit forward to hold the propeller in that position t... Read more

This is a great heater for the money. It's quiet, yet puts out the heat really well with the fan inside. We had one, and purchased another because they work so well!

I bought a black vornado vh2 in dec 2001 and have used it in my bedroom every winter at night . the thermostsat goes to 55 deg on my home furnace at bed time. only problem i have had was the thermostat sticking on the vh2. they use a crude bimetal thermostat on my unit. I took it apart one time and repaired it. it's worked fine since. it's been a great unit and I would purchase another but after reading reviews I thought maybe they cheapened them up. I had 2 pelonis original ceramic disc heaters previously and this unit has been far more trouble free and cheaper (initially) for me.....
