I just thought that I should provide a warning to anyone who buys this "wonderful" printer, you should ask HP to provide a Tech with the printer. My 7180 was working fine until about march of this year when the HP Updates/Viruses started to werak havoc with the printer. Currently to print more than one page I have to stop every few pages to pick out the error codes, wich match the time and date of the most recent driver update that the printer put on a random page rather than printing the image that it is supposed to, or it pints the top 10 % of the page and stops. Of course if you are feeding in letterheads and hit the cancel button, be shure to either wait 30 seconds before placing in another as it will create it's own internal print job of junk data and waste a sheet of paper.

This printer works reasonably well. However, the constant need to replenish these tiny ink cartridges is leading me to seriously consider dumping the printer, about a year after I bought it. I can't give you an exact metric like so many ounces per print or whatever, but, take my word for it, you will be replacing cartridges on this thing every couple of weeks if you do any small amount of printing at all. It is incredibly frustrating.

I waited and waited for this unit's price to drop so I could make a case to myself that I should buy this unit to replace my Canon i960 Photo printer, EPSON 2580 Scanner, and old HP 4L Laser Jet that were clogging up my desk. I especially wanted this one to scan negatives and slides. Well, that feature is especially poor. Every slide contains diagonal lines through it (the same slide scans perfect on the EPSON) so I had to break out the EPSON again for slide scanning. Photo printing quality is no where near as good as my Canon so that is now back on my desk. The only thing I use this for now is standard printing and scanning and now I have a fax machine (which I have to manually scan each page), but in the end I have 3 units on my desk again which defeated the purpose of this purchase.

I bought this HP C7180 printer a little over a year ago and thought this was the greatest printer I had ever had. It is very quiet, compared to the other HP printers I've had over the years. It prints out wonderful color photos and wonderful black & white copies of stuff I want to take off my computer's hard drive. Here's where the "but" comes in at. I don't know what happened, but suddently, within the past week, my black comes out with streaks and missing parts of letters. I've cleaned the printer--twice. I've changed black ink cartridges--four times. Still no different. I don't know what happened. The colors come out just fine--it's only the black. And the bad part about this problem--it occurred just a couple of days AFTER the warranty expired. Figures, right? I love this printer, but what are you supposed to do. I mean, black is a BIG part of printing. I've contacted HP, but no word on what to do. If I were you and wanted to get this printer, make sure that you get the extra warranty protection--it might just come in handy. Overall, though, it's a great printer. Smooth, fast, and the copies and photos come out looking great--and it's quiet to boot!

Great scanner and printer. I have not used the other functions yet. Received very quickly and easy to setup and use. Only frustration was trying to find out what maximum size memory card the unit could, since all I have are 2MG SD for my camera. HP Technical support told me the maximum size it could use was a 1MG and I was ready to send it back, but have been using my 2MG SD cards and they are working just fine. Keeping the screen is tricky with old photos leaving fragments, so a good quality lens cleaning cloth is a must if you are planning on such activity or you'll get a bunch of spots on your scanned photos. May want to price ink cartridges as there are four and I have not done this yet.
