LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 5

I have had this Lg for about 3 weeks now.I mainly wanted it for the Netflix streeming and wireless capability, why not upgrade to Blu-Ray too all in one machine! The wireless set up was easy I entered the password for my Linksys WRT54GT router and it was online in no time! The router is about 40 ft away two rooms down and the unit is almost at the bottom of the Av cabinet! The Netflix movies stream great no hiccups ,picture quality is good and if I need better I'll just throw in a Blu-ray which, works awsome! I tried to slow it down,I steamed a movie on the laptop, desktop and the Lg and still no hiccups I have quest DSL at 1.5 mbs and wireless g,the only annoying thing is that it doesn't operate in 4:3 aspect ratio at 1080 so I use 480p to keep the picture right the You tbe works good though picture quality can be sketchy It streams music good but you can't make playlist or random music! Standard DVD's play fine no weirdness from the upconvert! basicly this thing rocks and I'm loving watching all the old tv shows from Netflix!

LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 5

There are a few reviews that state that you cannot use a wireless connection to your lan with this unit. That is not true. I am using a a Linksys Wireless - G router for my network and a Linksys Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge at the BD-300. The two are in separate rooms separated by maybe 50 feet and Netflix movies stream seamlessly. (I'm using cable to connect to the internet.)

The setup was a snap. Right out of the box, I plugged in an ethernet cable to the unit, an HDMI cable to my receiver, turned on the unit and it automatically downloaded an update which took a couple of minutes, did the internet connection setup (specified the dynamic IP setting) clicked "return", clicked Netflix Streaming from the menu. Got the Netflix activation code, went to a computer and logged on to netflix.com/activate and I was watching a moving in 30 seconds.

Highly recommended!

LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 3

I may be underrating this product IF in fact the problem I am having is related to my network & not the LG300.
Problem is though, I don't feel guilty as LG tech support has been crap in helping me.

The BluRay functionality on this proudct is top notch.
It sucks you have to buy a memory stick to get BluRay Live working (cheap!) but you can get them for $10 at Best Buy. Load time is fast. Look & feel of unit is great. The remote is suprisingly light & nicely made as well.

My issue is the Netflix Streaming Connection.
I have no issues w/ the firmware updating automatically (was rather pleasantly surprised from LG on this.).

I have a Linksys WGA600N wireless bridge connecting my player to my Linksys router upstairs. BUT the connection drops out intermittently, crashing the Netflix app & causing me to reboot the player. It doesn't slow down the speed, or get grainy, it completely crashes.

Frustratingly there is no one at either OEM who seems to know how to help me. Netflix was a KEY reason I bought it & I still love the idea. But this needs to get fixed.

LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 2

I was going to purchase one of these units, saw it advertised in Rolling Stone and thought "YEAH!", I can finally bring streaming Netflix to my main HDTV! Then I got on here and read your reviews. How the heck could they build the perfect unit and FORGET to include Wi-Fi??? This seems like a HUGE oversight to me, and but the HALT on my purchase immediately. Major bummer. I know you can add a wi-fi bridge, but there goes another $75 smakeroo's. DUH! LG should have thought this one out a little better. If your making it for streaming audio, give us the wi-fi connection. That should be a NO BRAINER! Someone here mentioned that wi-fi wouldn't be a good alternative because it wouldn't allow for fast enuff streaming, but that's not true! It is streaming, after all...and if you've got a high speed connection, it's all you need. Damnit, guess I'll just have to wait until they come out with a wi-fi version, which I would have to think would be coming soon. All is not lost, however, I already have Netflix Streaming Video on my X-Box 360, which is hooked up to the other HDTV in my bedroom. This became available middle of last month (Nov 2008) and I am really enjoying it. It's wi-fi streaming and it works GREAT! (Not HD quality, but still not bad if there's a movie you want to see right here, right now!) Guess I'll just stick to streaming Netflix in the bedroom until the right wi-fi player comes along. You listening, LG?? You screwed up bigtime on this unit. Shame on you!

LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 5

Just got this product today, bought it on [...] during a cyber monday deal. Picked the perfect time to buy it because Netflix just announced they will be enabling HD streaming on this device and several others this week. The Blu-Ray quality is fantastic and the Netflix streaming is quite a nice feature especially if you have a speedy internet connection hooked up near where the player is going to be set up. You simply login to your Netflix account on your computer and add something to your Instant Queue and within seconds you can play it on your TV. Great device!

LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player 4

Nice player, does what is advertised: Netflix streaming is great, and both standard DVDs and Blu-ray disks look wonderful. I had thought briefly that this player could play other region disks, but it can't. With luck, someone will figure out (as they did for the BD200) how to work around this, so that those of us who buy disks from other regions can play them on it as well.
