I have read the entire series (minus the latest installment-I'm waiting for soft cover) three times. When I started the first book, I couldn't put it down. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the book. Sometimes confusing, always captivating.. I think it's unfair to compare Sword of Truth to Wheel of Time. Though similar in style, ideas aren't stolen from Terry Brooks. It would be like someone saying that a band, such as Pilate, influenced heavily by Radiohead, has nothing original to offer because they've adopted some of the same sound.

Very interesting series. Comparing Sword of Truth to the Wheel of Time:
1. WoT has more sense of direction than SoT. While Goodkind seems to be lost, Jordan is merely stuck.
2. SoT is more entertaining than WoT. WoT books, though more solid, are never as exciting as Wizard's First Rule or Stone of Tears

I couldn't get very far into the first book. It seems like a decent adaptation of a rather poor series (WoT).

Best series ever. The Kahlan and Richard love life is very captivating. As a guy I will admit it really resonated in me from heartbreaking events to passionate lovemaking "not over detailed". To Those people who said he copied jordan, well not really he may have been influenced by jordan, just as jordan was by Terry Brooks, and brooks to tolkien. It is also a very amusing book because richard has way to much power for his complete lack of knowledge about his magic. This evolve into some very funny situations. A must read

It's a pretty good story but he took everything from Jordan.

This series is a very excelent choice for anyone to read. The only series that even comes close to it in greatness is The Wheel of Time. The action is in a lot more detail than in WoT. This definately is a must read.

This is the first series in years that has kept me waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment.

The first couple of books were excellent, then the next couple were a disappointment, but the latest one was a big improvement.
Overall, a good fantasy saga.

Exactly like Wheel of Time, but not half as well written. Too simple.

The books are ok has some nice twists in them and the best one I think was the fourth but all of them are worth reading. If the next in the series are as good as the fourth it will be a series that will be read for many years.

While the first book is really excellent, it is pretty much all downhill from there. It seems like every books ends in a showdown to save the world from total destruction. Every plot is made up out of thin air, and despite the fact that Richard, the main hero, is supposed to be the most powerful wizard in like 3,000 years he gets into stupid problems that anyone with even half of a brain could have avoided. I would recommend reading the first book, Wizard's First Rule and stopping there. I think, however, that this series could have been promising in another authors hands.

I found the 1st and 2nd book in this series to be good. But the books to follow have been more than dissapointing! Goodkind relentlessly preaches to the reader on morals and values etc. Meanwhile, the characters and plot become increasingly dull and predictable. I would recommend this series only to a dull-witted reader or soap opera fanatic who must have characters names and key events drilled repeatedly into their small minds.

Great series! If you loved the Wheels of Time, you will like the Sword of Truth series as well. Goodkind brings his characters to life. Explore a whole new world with the hero Richard. I read this series twice!
