This is my favourite book. Dean Koontz plays with your emotions at the end by making you feel sorry for the monster. This is Dean Koontz best book by miles. A genetically engineered dog, hunted by some jealous monster. Its completely original but like all his other books - is all about conspiracy. This is a must-read... over and over again. It never loses anything even if you know the book line-by-line.

Of the many, many, many Koontz books out there, this is far and away the best of the lot. Not only is it one of the few that doesn't seem formulaic (sp?), it also tells the best story. From the first few pages to the last few words, you will hang on every sentence, and wonder what happens next. The same can not, unfortunately, be said for a lot of other Koontz books. If you read nothing else the man has written, pick this book up!

As with every Koontz book, this books is written with a formula. All of his books have different characters and occasionally different plots, but you can always tell what's going to happen by how many pages are left. Intro, character info, plot, twist, ending, and then the character closure, telling you what happened after the dust cleared.

This was Dean Koontz's greatest work! It was the first book I read and kept me reading a few more of his novels. I later found his books follow an obvious formula and became disheartened. Watchers was a great story, though.

About a dog that is as smart as me and a baboon creature that is out to eat the puppy and loves miccky mouse...normally i would say corny but just the way koontz wrights it, it seems amazeingly beleiveable and real. I was wondering all the way through what was going to happen next and the ending was awsome!

During the mid 80s to mid 90s Dean Koontz had a slew of excellent novels published and Watchers was one that helped catapult him into the limelight. A conspiracy is afoot involving the intentional mutating of genetic tissue and thinks have gotten out of control. Our heroes try to reverse the problem before it's too late. Koontz writes the most furious page turners I've ever read. For one reason or another, Koontz's writing style burns itself into my vision and makes me read his books two-three times as fast as most other authors. He builds up suspense and throws twists and turns at readers like a cross between Robert Ludlum and Stephen King. Koontz is generally regarded as a horror writer but keeps the gore on a tight leash. Rarely does he use violence gratuitously. Watchers is one of his best during his "golden" era of the late 80s.

One of my all time favourite books! Watchers has the most loveable and surprisingly believeable characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The plot is well developed and intriguing! Guaranteed to keep you up at all hours until the end.

Watchers is definately the best book I have ever read! The plot is great, you really fall in love with the characters, and the antagonist is truly abominable. This book is a great mystery and horror story, with an emotional ending and an original storyline. Definately read it!

WATCHERS is one of the best (of literally hundreds and hundreds) books I've ever read. I don't want to give anything away, but you get so absorbed in the characters and plot that the ending is...both unforseeable and remarkable. You'll never forget it. I have recommended WATCHERS to everyone I know, and they loved it too, even if it's not the kind of book they usually read. WATCHERS what started me on Dean Koontz books, and I still consider it his best, at least as far as the impact it had on me.

Dean Koontz is an incredible author! In Watchers, one the best he has ever written, an intelligent dog and beastly ape escape from a top secret government laboratory. The dog is just as smart as any human, though struggles to find a way to communicate with the humans who have taken him in. The monster is a killing machine, also genetically engineered by the government. Currently, his only goal is destroy the dog. Once the dog communicates with the humans, Nora and Travis, the trio find themselves in the flight of their life, running away all over the country, getting new identities, and trying their hardest to protect the dog from the government and the monster.

Best book I've ever read. I've read it three times. He toys with your emotions through the entire book. He makes you hate the monster, then have total sympathy for it. This is the only book that has ever made me cry.

I loved this book! The story is pretty far-fetched, but it really draws the reader in. The characters are wonderful and the story makes you wonder what happened next. Excellent choice for anyone who has pets.

Excellent. His characters are people you really care about, even the scum you feel sorry for. Other books that are worth getting
are Intensity,Whispers and Tick Tock.
