Swiss cheese is known in Europe as Emental cheese. Its popularity comes, in part, for the holes it has, these holes are produced by the bacteria during the maturation process

I love it. A unique flavor that works on everything. Salads, pizza, sandwiches, pasta. Good stuff.

It's great on sandwiches, or even crackers, but I can't say I like eating a plain piece of swiss cheese.

Sometimes a little too zingy, but somewhat OK when you pick the right ones. It tastes better when it is melted or heated.

Oh my gosh, Swiss cheese is simply out of this world! With me, Swiss is number one! It's great with crackers as a light snack, and a great accent to Sizzler's Malibu Chicken. Other than that, I prefer to eat Swiss cheese by itself. And, no... processed "swiss" cheese won't do. It has got to be pure and real, or I won't have much to do with it.

AND... it's a little less fattening (but not by much) per serving than regular Cheddar. A bit of refreshing news for cheese-lovers who are watching their weight... well, sort of.

I really like the taste of Swiss cheese and the more aged the better.  The nutty taste is really attractive.

This is one of my favorites. The more it's aged, the better! Update: Recently, I saw a different kind of Swiss cheese called Apple Smoked Swiss. Looked good, but too expensive for me! Update 2: It finally got the better of me. I just had to try some of this Apple Smoked Swiss cheese. It not only looked good, but it is good. But, like I said, it is very expensive, so I won't be getting too much of it.

Swiss is my other favorite on sandwiches. I love a good mushroom and swiss burger as well. I often snack on slices of swiss. Really love baby swiss but it is more expensive.

Smells like an old shoe. I tend to stay away from stinky cheeses like Swiss

A good Swiss cheese is pure heaven. The creamier types are the best. Most are too hard and tasteless. A slice of toast topped with a good Swiss cheese and some salt and pepper is delicious.

Gross. It's too... sweet or something. It's not tangy enough.

Basic, but can be used in a lot of ways. Seems to go with almost any kind of sandwich.

My friends in college partied a little too much and spent ten minutes just staring at Swiss cheese at the supermarket. Good for ham sandwiches. Not a good stand alone cheese like cheddar.

I typically like regular swiss, but I occassionally cook with baby swiss. It's tasty, but it doesn't smell very good.

Ick. For some reason, swiss cheese has always tasted like sweaty gym socks to me. Or, at least, how I would imagine sweaty gym socks to taste. . .Anyway, being from the cheese state of WI originally, I guess I'm supposed to love all cheese, but I just can't love swiss.

Swiss is a fun cheese, with all the little holes in it; it's a mild cheese, it can really compliment a good sandwich. Depending on the brand, it's also pretty good cubed and eaten alone. This isn't for those who prefer something sharper, and sometimes it really depends on mood on whether I want it or not, but overall it's a good cheese!

If it's not the low fat kind, this is a very good cheese. It's even better if it's melted on a sandwich. Like I said though, if it's the low fat kind, you would do just as well to eat the plastic it came wrapped in.

It's not a type of cheese you want to eat by itself but it's a great blender with sandwhiches and salads.

I hated this cheese when I was a kid. That was because the first time I tried a bite it had just been taken out of the refrigerator and had all the flavor of my little yellow rain boots. When I developed a little more patience I realized that waiting until this (or any other cheese) to warm to room temp really pays off! Swiss is great on sandwiches and a wonderful addition to any cheese tray. My favorite is either the Loraine or Baby Swiss, which seem a little creamier than regular Swiss.

Take my word for it: Stay with the old baked swiss cheese crackers. Sour.

I personally like swiss cheese, in sandwiches, french onion soup..in casseroles etc..however, I don't always eat it..you definitely have to be in a swiss mood, it is rather strong..since my kids and husband don't like this strong cheese, I often use Alpine Lace swiss cheese..it is softer in texture..many small wholes, melts nicely and isn't quite as strong as regular swiss cheese.

I don't know what it is about Swiss cheese, but it just makes me gag. It tastes gross, IMHO.
