As Ghengis stated, it can still be found at your local doctor and dentist's office with pen markings on the cover and torn, stained pages, as well as at some of your local grocery store check-outs. Its pretty much past it's prime. I wonder who will make TIME's "Man of The Year" (if they still do that)? Ah, right...its going to be Obama of course.

On the positive, it covers a wide range of events in many different fields. On the negative, it tends to cover stories only on the surface. There's too much of a focus on flash rather than substance. Also the magazine is not globally oriented--its stories take on an Americentric slant. Many of the political stories attempt to focus on ideological disputes rather than fact seeking. I could probably also say the same about the other major news magazines (Newsweek and US News and World Report). The only difference is that Newsweek and Time lean slightly left and US News leans more towards the neo-conservative camp.

I read periodicals of both the left and right, but I prefer them to be open about what they are. Time attempts to hide its conservative bias under a patina of objectivity. I don't care for it much, and like others only read it in the waiting room. I prefer the Economist.

I read this magazine for decades but it tried to get trendy, lost me and others such as I, and appears to be issuing a death rattle. As the generations die out who used to read serious news mags, the market for Time will continue to shrink. About the only time I page through it now is in the waiting room.

I don't subscribe to this magazine, but if I have to go to the doctor's office I see them a lot. They help to pass some time away, I guess.

Time does a pretty good job of covering the news in a less boring way than some of the others. They also print human interest stories that are worth reading.

Suffered through a few lean years and underwent a facelift a couple of years ago- and there is some improvement.  It will never match the HOF writing of The Economist, but Time is as good as a general American magazine gets.

By now far inferior to Newsweek, which has at least managed to avoid becoming the aw-shucks, baseball-and-apple-pie rag which Time is. Time has become indistinguishable from its old corporate twin, Life, the legacy of whose fake folksiness it carries on.

Once slightly above mediocre,TIME has degenerated to the gossip-rag mentality play-it-safe pseudo-journalism of "People".

I used to take it (for over twenty years) but dropped it after constant liberal writing and editorializing in the news coverage. How many times can they bash Bush and conservatives? Really could be a great mag but they've got to kill the liberal slant.

Outrageous liberal trash, especially after the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal. The cover of the magazine following the revelation showed a sketch of an Iraqi prisoner in a tragic pose with the title above: How has it come to this? This was followed by pages of how this prisoner abuse was awful and an outrage. Summarily, the following week, in Australia on vacation, I picked up a Time Magazine, American edition, hoping to settle a bet with myself that the Nick Berg beheading would get scant coverage. Guess what: I won. No mention was made on the cover, and the editors only devoted two pages of coverage at most to the beheading. Meanwhile, the magazine had many more pages of the prisoner abuse scandal inside. What a travesty. Don't buy this liberal/socialist propaganda ever again. If you think I'm wacko, spend some time in Greenwich Village, Ann Arbor or Berkeley and you'll understand soon enough. Take heed.

I recently bought a subscription and have enjoyed it thoroughly. There are often interesting medical/political articles, and the pieces are typically well-written and easy to follow. I have noticed a definite left shift in some of the issues, but that hasn't kept me from enjoying it.

TRASH! Any magazine that purports to be a "News" magazine while at he same time putting the latest pop culture icon or hare brained idea on the cover as "news" is on the same level as the nightly "news" broadcasts on the major American TV networks. Thank goodness for "The Economist", a literate magazine for those that still care about what is going on in the world around them. (This comment also applies to "Newsweek". They should be called "TimeWeek".)

Definitely biased, even I get fed up with their left wing preaching and I'm certainly hanging more to the left than the right. It's more of an opinion mag than news and if people read it knowing that, they can take what they read for what it is- biased jounalism. But hey, I often agree with what they say. Let me ask everyone out there to see if I can get an answer: is there ANY news outlet that does not have a bias one way or another? Tell me if you know of one.

If it weren't for some occasional fine photography showing up in the magazine, I would have rated Time as terrible. The problem with this rag is that even reasonably intelligent people can read the articles and be fooled into believing they're reading unbiased news. Nevermind the fact that virtually all of the opinion articles are far left-wing, slanting every news story in the same fashion is truly shoddy journalism. Don't waste your Time or money on this trash.

I had a subscription to Newsweek for ten years and then switched to Time. I found Time to be opinionated, left wing, biased and not particularly good. After one year I went back to Newsweek.

They've got their steering wheel permanently stuck on hard left over at Time Magazine. I wish it could be more objective...or at least be honest enough to present itself as liberal instead of pretending to be mainstream. Then it would have more credibility, and I would be more interested in reading it.

If it was presented as a liberal journal of opinion rather than a news magazine I might take it more seriously.

man, this magazine is so biased it's an insult to the name of journalism. i mean plenty of writers write with a slight bias, even if they try not to. but these guys don't even try. whether a report is bent in either direction, i can't stand people who refuse to even try to sound professional. it's like they don't sit down to write their articles until two in the morning, after a few too many beers has sent them into an emotional rollercoaster.

Time is an interesting and informational magazine. I enjoy reading it. However, I feel that it needs to give more attention to actual news and events rather than politics and opinion sections. I feel that the majority of the content is dedicated to opinions and there isn't as much informational news as I would like.

This magazine stands for everything that is bad in the American news media. It's contrived and manipulative, making it's headlines on what they think will sell copies (eg. movies and medical claims) and not what is really news worthy. The same goes for Newsweek.

This magazine presents interesting articles in an easy to read format on current and important topics. Sometimes it's a little too politically oriented, but in general it accurately depicts what's going on. Good for a wide variety of age groups, I've enjoyed reading it since I was around 12 or 13 (I'm 18 now).

Time is a very pop-cultural focused magazine. They use modern slang and complex venacular that relays the high-profile image they wish to convey. It belongs on the level of People magazine, and shouldn't be relied on for much more than mediocre information and titillating amusement.

Time magazine has respected writers with much talent. However, many of their articles seem to be one-sided, thereby making readers wonder if an underhanded motive is being excerted. The other side seems to be not addressed and one is in want of a more objective source for news.

Time gives me a broad perspective of what is happening around the world and in the U.S. I enjoy its commentary articles the most, as they cover a wide range of political perspectives. The only thing I don't like about Time is that it sometimes gives too much coverage to frivolous issues, like entertainment. For example, one cover was devoted to Leonardo De Caprio. Whatever!

A relevant, outstanding piece of pulp, with actual real information and real people. Articles which deal with reality; which is just a hint as to what really exists out there. Photographic, artistic, and purely informational excellence. A usable journal, and an interesting facade.
