i cant stop laughing at the reviews that say WW is expensive. 40 a month for online? thats less than most gym memberships! these people are joking with themselves... i spend more than that at the nail place and then there is starbucks :-) Its a good program that lets you eat real food, and the meetings are for people that need that kind of support. Ive never been to a meeting. I lost 70 lbs 9 years ago with JC and kept it off using WW. Any program that helps you have a more healthy lifestyle and has realistic goals will work. Stop complaining that programs dont work when its really the fact that you are lying to yourself about the extra snacking throughout the day etc! We have all been there we all share the same struggle with food

I've never done this, except for buying one of their frozen meals by accident, but this is a great place to tell one of my favorite anecdotes. On topic and everything. In the Safeway where I do most of my shopping I regularly see a couple who probably tip the scales at 600 pounds between them. Much in the manner that occurs between people who see each other enough to recognize each other without acquaintance we normally nod acknowledgement at each other when we meet in the grocery aisles. On one occasion, I wound up behind them in the checkout line. They had two carts between them, one loaded up with Weigh Watcher frozen dinners, and the other with Diet Coke and a couple of Sarah Lee cakes. There might have been some real food in there somewhere too, but I didn't notice. As they're piling this onto the conveyer and watching the clerk ring it through, the woman says: "I'm not sure this Weight Watcher stuff is that good. We've been on it six months now, and haven't lost a pound... Read more

I am doing the online program. While I have lost and gained weight many times over the years weight watchers is the only program I have ever done that I felt I could live with for the rest of my life. I am losing about 2.5 pounds a week (first month). Bear in mind I have almost 100 pounds to lose so am probably losing faster than someone who only has 20 to take off. The online program is good but the tools seem to have issues a couple times a week. That is my only complaint. If you track absolutely everything you eat and I mean everything and stay in your point zone you will lose weight. I have tried this program before and had no luck this time I have made absolutely sure I track every taste and it is working great. It does take some discipline to stay within my points but am fairly comfortable and find the program livable. I will be on it until maintenance. I can look ahead to the next 10 - 12 months without worrying I can't do it. One thing that I have found very helpful... Read more

Okay, people really? Point system confusing? If you can read and do simple math, the point system should not be challenging. I have read a lot of posts about how expensive the program is and even some posts that talked about the ridiculousness of the meetings. Did it ever occur to those, who by the way openly shared that they NEVER attended a meeting, that it is quite motivating to share the ups and downs of the perilous weight-loss cycle with people who share the same trials and tribulations? I have tried it all as far as yo-yo dietis are concerned. WW is not a fad or gimmick that promises some ridiculous weight loss in .25 seconds. Rather, it is a system that teaches you self-discipline where food is concerned, but more importantly in my opinion, that we are not alone in our struggles. It's not for everyone for sure. There is not a "One Size Fits All" lifestyle changing cataylst. But to say it is too expensive or that it doesn't work means 2 things in my opinion. If you th... Read more

I had loved the program they used to have, which focused on healthy foods more than just the "points" you get for the day. I "100 Calorie packed-2 pointed" to over 125 lb. over my Lifetime goal weight. The latest program is too confusing, with way too many options that stymied my weight loss. I would recommend a free site called "SparkPeople.com" for the best in health and weight loss management. You get everything on it you pay lots for on WW-either online or meetings. It no longer works for me. I doubt I'll be back. BTW-I did lose my weight 20 years ago-when food was on the exchange system. I have even worked for them, so I regret I have this review for them right now. I just don't see myself going back without the ability to really be steered into balanced, healthy meals like it used to be.

Beware if you are looking at the online membership service from weight watchers. I didn't have time for the meetings so I chose the online membership with free sign up when you purchase 3 months at $53.89. They don't let you see what the online service membership entails so basically you are buying into it blind! I signed up on Dec. 31 2009, I realized the online service was NOT what I was looking for or needed (I can get the same site on caloriecount.about.com with healthy recipes, calorie counter, activity counter and recommended calorie intake for FREE!). I instantly cancelled my online subscription asking for a refund since it wasn't what I was looking for and they denied me a refund. They charged me for the 'free sign up fee' of $30 since I didn't complete the 3 months. What?!? I had it for less than 48 hrs!!...btw...they DO take your payment on your cc right away! How is someone suppose to know if they like the online membership website if they are not allowed to view it... Read more

I love Weight Watchers. I have lost 40 lbs and I'm almost on maintenance. I go to meetings so I can weigh in, this keeps me accountable. It has taken me a year to lose this weight because the last 10lbs come off very slow and I am limited as to what I can do to exercise. I’m still very satisfied with the program. Following points is the easiest thing in the world and it just clicked with me from the start. You just have to be honest about what you are eating and track every single, BLT. (bite, lick, taste). I feel I can eat this way for the rest of my life. No food is off limits and the plan is very flexible. Weigh in is private. You can choose to share your success or not. You don’t have to go to meetings. Many are successful with WW online. Or find a meeting that you like. My meeting place has different leaders at different times. IMO many who say they can not lose with Weight Watchers are not following the program correctly. It’s not just counting points or eating filling foo... Read more

I am midway through my third week of Weight Watchers and I have already lost 10 pounds and my bra no longer fits. Of course, it was probably mostly water weight but that is the most consistent weight loss I have seen. It is uncomplicated and flexible, and I personally prefer the points to calories for some reason. I have been trying to lose the same stupid 20-ish pounds that I gained a year ago, but would always plateau after losing about 5 (and of course, those 5 would be back real soon) Better yet, I have not felt like I gave anything up. Since I work odd hours, I have been inclined to break the rules a little, ie count my food toward the next days points rather than digging too deep into my weekly allowance. However, the program works, as long as you stick to it. I've had such encouraging results that I plan on staying with the program long after I reach my ultimate goal weight; I will stay on it until I feel a permanent change has been made.

I have been on WW for 8 weeks and have lost 22.2 lbs. I strictly follow the points and walk for 60 minutes a day, five days a week. I am very happy with the program. I think that if you do not lose, then you are not following the program. I very rarely feel hungry and feel like I eat all of the time. I have learned the better kinds of foods to eat...this is the key!!! I look forward to going to the meetings and would recommend to anyone. For those of you that say it is too expensive, you can get a monthly pass for $36, this is paid for if you eat out 3 less meals a month. But, I would not pay unless you are serious about the program. You get what you put into it!

Weight watchers is a great way to lose weight if your able to control your eating habits. I think it is best if used in conjunction with a diet pill for appetite. I personally do weight watchers with Accompliex and I get it from http://www.SlimEffects.com It has decreased my appetite so much and I love it. I have lost 65 lbs so far

I've lost 28 lbs in the past 3 months. I started out going to meetings to get the initial information and ask questions but after the first three weeks I stopped going and am still losing weight. I like this diet because you don't HAVE to eat "Diet" food. I can still go to a fast food restaraunt if I want... I just have to choose more wisely. I travel a lot and this diet makes it easy for me to travel and diet at the same time. Though it's not the most FUN thing... dieting never is. It comes down to... do you want to lose weight or not? If you really do and are willing to give it some time in order to do it in a healthy way... this diet is amazing. I plan to be at my goal weight in about four months. I'm already getting comments on how much weight Ive lost... it feels amazing.

I was a victim of the freshman fifteen so i turned to weight watchers to shed the pounds. Within the first month of the program i lost about six pounds, although when spring break came, I gained it all back plus more so it is very important to stick to the program. I am in the middle of trying to lose the weight again but it is a lot harder the second time around.

Weightwatchers is a terrible company. I canceled my membership and they continued to charge my credit card. I tried calling customer service to no avail. I was told that they didn't accept phone calls and that they would call me back. Well, that never happened. I would only get pre-canned emails. I finally had to get my credit card company not to pay the charges. I will never give use them again. Buyer beware

weight watchers is amazing. it takes a lot of self commitment though. i am only 14 and i started weight watchers back in november. i started out at 159 and within 2 and a half weeks i was 145. once the holidays came and im a kid so it was hard to stay faithful, i leaned off of it a little and gained a few pounds back.. but the week i started on it again i dropped those extra pounds. my advice is to not stop because it is very hard to get back on. but its the best diet i have ever heard of.. its not even a diet.. it just teaches you size and proportion. it is a lot easier to be on this with someone else, although if your a commited person, alone will be fine i never attended one meeting

It's been around for a long time for a good reason, they know what they are doing. What I like most about WW is that you can tailor it to what you need. Beginners may need to spend more money at first to learn about calorie restriction and proper nutrition. But once you get the basics down, you can use all the information you learned in your real life. They also have some really tasty ready-made meals and a great cookbook.

Anyone who claims that they're doing everything Weight Watchers says they should do and still aren't losing weight either need to be more honest with themselves. In the very rare case they are having real problems and it's not a cheating/portion size issue, they should see a doctor. If you are disciplined enough to do it alone, great. A lot of people need the support and information though. In the end, like any diet program, they won't do the work for you and if you aren't losing weight or if you aren't keeping it off you need to work a little harder or at least accept responsibility instead of blaming a diet plan.

It sounds to me like some of the lower ratings are from people without willpower. I see many people come and go at these meetings. There one week, gone the next. I have been doing WW for 2 ½ months and have lost 35 pounds, 6inches in my waist and down 3 suite sizes. And…It is not expensive at all… and you certainly don’t need to be rich. You can pay for WW by skipping the twice per week visit to your local McD’s. The program works, the plan is straight forward, it allows you to eat what ever it is you crave (with moderation) and the results speak for themselves. WW is the easiest lifestyle change to make. The food is good, the servings are reasonable and the support is there if needed. I highly recommend WW to anyone that truly wants to change their eating habits and live a healthier life…if you want a quick fix try something else.

I can't believe the number of people complaining about the expense of Weight Watchers. If you can't invest $12 a week in yourself by cutting out trips through the drive through, buying miscellaneous junk from the grocery store, then no plan will work! The point of weight watcher is to face the scale instead of the deceptive body imagery we create looking in the mirror every day. Tired of starving, using diet pills, only to regain back the weight you've lost and then some? Try weight watchers!

Perhaps the only diet really worth being a part of. With Weight Watchers you learn to eat properly and still lose the weight- for a life time. Yeah, WW takes a while to have an effect but its worth it.

Weight Watchers works if you use it to your advantage and follow the program. . However once you get the hang of it and use the progam there is no need to pay to go to the meetings every week. Just use what you learned and maintain your weight loss.

Personally I think it is way too expensive, and I know few people that it actually worked for. These people did everything 'Weight Watchers' asked of them, and still very little results. I definately wouldn't recommend it to men who are dieting either. If you are rich and have the patience of a saint, then go with Weight Watchers !

I like Weight Watchers. I've lost about 30 pounds in a year. Not a whole lot. But more than I could have without them. I even quit going for a while because I thought it was stupid. I didn't think I needed them anymore. I learned how to eat right and excersize. But for some reason I didn't do it when I quit. I needed that every week getting on the scale. Even though I have a scale at home. I really don't go to the meetings anymore. But I do pay $12 a week just to jump on the scale. I'm crazy. But if that's what I need to do to make it work, I'll do it.

Over the years I have spent hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars at Weight Watchers and have never reached my goal. In college I probably only needed to lose 10 lbs, but thought I needed to lose alot more. But each time I rejoined my weight was up some. Why did I keep joining? I don't know, when you feel fat and desperate you do these things. When you know you are going to be weighed by another human each week, it props up your sagging motivation & commitment. In the Plano, Tx area they have a lot of good speakers and I learned a lot of good tips at Weight Watchers. However, my weight would go down & up and down & up. The last time I joined I needed to lose 30 lbs and never made it to the first 10% (you get a key chain when you have lost 10% of your starting weight) even after a year and a half. I ate very healthy but I stayed hungry & never could seem to stay within my points. To quote Jared at www.intense-workout.com "weight watchers is just replacing the word calories with th... It is a sound program but it is expensive. It might be the right thing for those who desire a supportive atmosphere, but the meetings teach VERY basic nutritional information. If you are like me and you've read a bazillion diet books and every article about weight loss in your life, it is all repetitious. It works well for my mom in law, though, who was raised on country cooking. She has lost a lot by making simple substitutions. I also feel that the program lacks any ways to get insight into our eating habits. I think the idea of another reviewer to go to a dietician is more worthwhile.

It was okay - but TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE! At a cost of $12.00 per week for a one-hour meeting with about 50 other people...just too much! Found out I can get a one-on-one with a LICENCED nutritionalist at my local hospital for $12.15 for about 20 minutes...guess where I spent MY money!? You guessed right if you said NOT WEIGHT WATCHERS! Oh...and the point thing is just too confusing sometimes!

Here’s how I see Weight Watchers - unless you really need or enjoy the companionship in your weight loss efforts there is no real reason to attend these meetings. The one time I did join I ended up slowly phasing out of it because I could not deal with the “religious experience” some people seem to get when they lose weight. It was the same story every week “I lost yadda yadda pounds, I feel yadda yadda great about myself, I’m a whole new person yadda yadda.” And I’m sitting there thinking well, that’s great but there’s another hour of my life I will never get back. That said I understand that many people do better with a support group so I don’t condemn the whole idea for everyone – just doesn’t seem to work for me personally. Another revelation was when I realized that the diet itself is basically just a bells and whistles version of the Diabetic Diet (as is Richard Simmons diet), which is available free from many sources (your doctor, the Internet, your local library, the Americ... Since this magazine has been revamped, it has lost a great deal. It seems to be more geared for women instead of being unisex. It has also gotten shorter and become a 2 month per magazine subscription. It has some good advice but not enough advice to justify the cost.

The best part of the magazine is the inspiring stories of how the women lost weight. These women's stories are real and moving. They are not stories about size six women losing ten pounds.
