Mrs Gellan absolutely loves this movie, but I'm just not feeling it. While I do like the parts where Milla Jovovich is babbling Aramaic, the rest leaves me a little cold. BTW, when are we going to have hover cars anyway?

I know a lot of people really like Fifth Element, but I don't think it's that special. It was entertaining enough the first time I saw it, and Bruce Willis does a decent job in this one, but it's just not that big of a deal. It's not a movie that will make me stop if I'm channel surfing.

I'm not typically a Sci-fi fan, but this movie was a little more special than most of the others I have seen and it's mainly due to its artistic elements. I agree that the plot was not all that special, neither was the humor. What stood out though was the music, the stage setting, and the body of Milla Jovovich.

Looks like no other sci-fi film except maybe Blade Runner. Interesting story line and pretty fair acting.

One of the more interesting pieces of sci-fi. The bit with the cherry is funny as hell.

All star cast, Bruce, Milla, Gary,Chris, gotta love how they made devo the president. Action, humor, romance, great music, beautiful scenes, this movie has it all.   My only gripe is that Milla wasn't given a nude scene, that would have put this movie over the top.  Still, this is probably the first blueray dvd I will purchcase.

Cool flick that's funny and inventive. Chris Tucker is absolutely hilarious in this! The whole story in the film is creative. Worth checking out.

Great film. Slightly confusing until seeing the end of the film and watching it again.

Seriously fun all the way through with tidy casting. You can tell they put money into the special effects, as they don't look like anything else anywhere else. Off-kilter pacing, which presents a challenge to many viewers, but if you were looking for something to liven up a boring weekend, this'd be in my Top Five.

This is a fun flick to watch Bruce is great and the effects are not bad at all. This has to be a cult classic and it sounds great in surround sound. Casting is wonderful and the story is an oldie but goodie. Fight scenes are good and there is a lot of humor through out the movies which keeps it moving. A must see DVD !

I hated this movie the first time I saw it (it was advertised as the next Star Wars). After knowing what this movie was about and seeing it another time, this is now one of my favorite movies. The set design and characters are wonderful, Luc Besson just having fun, sit back and enjoy the ride!

This is the kind of movie that was probably very fun to make. There's a tongue-in-cheek attitude and quirky goings-on. I was obsessed with Milla for months after seeing this move.

Another uninspired sci-fi movie that can't hold half a candle to the brilliance of Star Trek.

I very much enjoyed this movie. Wonderful to look at and it didn't take itself too seriously. Being obscure, the best little bit of that movie is when Korbin Dallas turns the tables on the ingenious but tightly wound mugger with that clever hat with the photo of the hallway on top. The way he speaks and that crazy little dance that he does when Willis' character gets the drop on him made me laugh so hard and so long it was the first time I was hushed in a theatre.

This is my favorite movie. Its pure fun. Perhaps the criticism is true. The plot isnt revolutionary. The characters arent deep. The special effects are not the best. You have to look past all those stuck-up snubs and see the real beauty in this film. The pace is really what grabs you. There is little time spent on characterization, but whats there is done well. The movies overall frenetic pace can be seen as a method of glossing over a lack of characterization, but the main characters backgrounds are revealed quickly, allowing the pace to continue. Bruce's character, Korbin Dallas, is easily established in his opening scene as he takes a phone call: his background in the military, his recent divorce, and his current occupation as a cab driver. The soundtrack lends itself to this pace with its high-energy mix of techno, classical, and middle-eastern sounds. The sound effects themselves are huge and compliment every word and action so well. If you really want to get technical, I th... Read more

This is quite simply one of the worst movies of all time. The plot is not well contrived, nor the story set properly. The characters and scenes are very surrealistic, almost to the point of existentialism, and the humorous portions of the film are rather transparent. The story is very predictable, and the special effects, mediocre. I cannot recommend this movie to anyone, and while Chris Tucker was funny, he was also tedious and unnecessary. Additionally, the love story was thin, and under developed while Gary Oldman was just stupid: so much so, that I believe his performance in Lost in Space was better than this one.

Quite an exciting movie with Bruce Willis as the main character on his quest of saving the world. Nice plot and carefully chosen actors. The score is excellent for listening purposes.

I liked this movie a lot because I am a sci-fi fan. The effects of the movie I thought were what stood out. It was great to see hi-tech weapons and flying cars. The movie was also funny and not just all action.

Futuristic, but still realistic. Good actors that feed off each others energy. The movie has a complex plot that is easy to follow.

I enjoyed this movie because of all the aspects of life this movie portrays. The whole meaning fo the Fifth Element is that life is not possible without the forces of love. The costumes were original, action and plot were extraordinary, and the directors view of our world in the future is very critical of our lifestyle today.

Yes, there are plot holes, but you couldn't ask for better eye candy! Bruce Willis, pre-"Sixth Sense," is a taxi driver in an unknown future, and must save the universe. A good time, funny, if not the smartest sci-fi movie you'll ever see.

Quirky, interesting sci-fi flick...has a romantic heart (hard science freaks beware!). Funny situations and amusing dialogue. Exciting action scenes; great performances from Gary Oldman, and a good one from Bruce Willis. Incosistant editing that keeps it from getting a 5.

A great action packed movie. A lot of drama and action candy for the eyes. The movie was actually very predictable but I liked the way Bruce Willis played a major ass.

The plot has no cohesion at all- it meanders through an eternity of disjointed situations. Special effects and bizarre sensationalism are not enough to hold my interest without a plot.

The Fifth Element is an awesome sci-fi movie and Luc Besson's best work. I think it should get more viewings by other viewers cause a lot of people haven't seen it.

This movie was good & very unique, however, it was pretty mindless. A better Bruce Willis sci fi flick was Twelve Monkeys -- I didn't see that movie on the rating list, but it was right up ther with the best of them.
