This movie is really about a 4.5 to me. It is about Amadeus Mozart and his genius talent for composing musice. Tom Hulce was good as the eccentric off the wall Mozart, F. Murray Abraham was also good as the jealous composer who ended Mozarts life. Really well done movie about this composers life. only complaint would be being way too long. we just bought this on DVD and go the 20 extra minutes version. really not needed.

A different movie with omitted scenes put back in. Much darker undertone for main character. Great, funny, stellar acting by F. Murray. Buy it now.

I have shown the original version of this movie many times over the years in my classroom as part of a unit on Mozart and was very familiar with the content of the movie. This newer version contains scenes that were not in the original and I was not aware that scene 16 contains nudity until I showed it to my seventh graders-so beware! By the way, this movie is unrated as there were no ratings for movies at that time-the original does contain some inappropriate language which I explain to my students that the use of this language helps to explain Mozart's behavior.

This artistic biography of Amadeus Mozart is not just for classical music fans. If your into music of any type the excitement of musical genius can be paralleled with the artist that inspires you. An exciting movie in and of itself, whether you love music or never even turn on the radio, this movie will hold you in trance to the very end. You will find yourself searching for Mozart CD's or MP3s on Amazon right after the disc pops out. You may even be thinking of getting yourself a keyboard. The blu-ray version is not much better than an upconverted DVD but it is better. I believe there was not enough extras included for this to be a "special" release, but still well worth adding to your collection.

Love this movie. One scene was particularly revealing, so be careful when watching with children.

The on-the-money film-reviewer of the day has given us an injustice that must come to life. Amadeus. . .this low? F#$k you you #$$#$ who voted this thing with less than four stars. You wouldn't know what a good movie was if it crawled up your leg and bit your c#ck. You probably like to eat Crisco and watch "NAVY SEALS". . .

Classic. For some reason ('Can't put my finger on it), F. Murray Abraham as Salieri was phenominal.

A favorite. No one's sure how accurate we can deem it but I certainly enjoyed the story and it helped me to appreciate Mozart more.

This...is...perfection. An absolutely marvelous period epic, inspirational and essential, brilliant and funny, one of the greatest films of the 80s. It scooped up a gradiose 8 Academy Awards 1984 including Best Picture, which it highly, highly deserves. I bought this movie on VHS because I loved it so much. Wow! I can't recommend it enough. Just two words: See it. Summary: A BRILLIANT AND INSPIRATIONAL PERIOD EPIC.

It seems like the movie might never end. However, it still is a decent movie that shows the struggles toward the end of Mozart's life.

This film tries and succeeds at adapting a play in which Mozart is hated by one of his contemporaries. Salieri's hatred of Mozart is never really developed well other than Mozart's arrogant slight of Salieri, but the movie does very well at chronicling the life of the composer and his relationship with both his wife and father. For anyone interested in this type of period work, it is a must see, not just for the dialogue and plot, but the music which really does make the movie.

although i rate this as a great movie, i could never figure out why saleri hated mozart so much...time and again, the 'reason' is shown in the film, but saleri, although jealous, idolized mozart. a scene in particular is when mozarts wife, constanze, takes originals to saleri for his 'approval' to bring mozart into the royal court, as they are becoming penniless...he says the music is 'miracleous', but drops the originals on the floor and steps upon them as he walks out, refusing to give mozart any sort of consideration, although throughout the entire movie, he constantly claims devotion to him...anyway, a great movie!

This movie inspired me to take piano. It portrayed a very important man and with movies like this, it makes an audience feel that even as regular people we can accomplish anything.

This is one of the favorite movies of my youth. Even though it's a period film, it's really funny. The actor who played the main character did a great job.

I was first informed about Mozart through this movie. This movie made me realize how Mozart's life was. I play his music, yet prior to Amadeus, I didn't even know who he was. After watching this movie, I truly realize how talented he was.

Amadeus was a great movie because just about every part of it was flawless. The acting was great, the storyline, the costumes, the set....It was also extremely believable and the way Mozart's music was incorporated with the scenes of the movie was also great.

Amadeus is a great movie for its cinematic efforts! This is a movie that tries to show the true lives of Mozart & Amadeus for the sake of telling a true story, not just made to put actors in costume.

Long and boring. Suprise ending is good. Enemy turned crazy. I'm not sure if it's historically accurate.

If you enjoyed this movie, then you ought to read MOZART byWolfgang Hildesheimer. Mozart was a very twisted, perverted genius.

Excellent film. Sure there are some inaccuracies in it but who cares it's entertainment and excellent entertainment at that. Very engaging, it really draws you in, F. Murray Abraham is absolutely transfixing in this film. He does an incredible job as the aged Saliery. His expressions, mannerisms, and speech is spot on. If you've missed this then you've really missed out.

From its debut on the theatrical stage to its cinematic reproduction, the story of the worlds most renowned prodigy has found its place among the great stories of all time. The film portreal of mozart brings with it more than a great story though, including excelent acting and one thing that has remained unparalleled in movie making. The best soundtrack of all time.
