I remember how alien this music was when it first came out. Totally different from anything in main-stream music. Think of this as Jimi's user-friendly album. About as close as the group ever came to top-40 music.

A fair album, but he is a very messy guitarist.

Good, but not great. Not Hendrix at his best.

Jimi Hendrix is an a class of his own:No one has ever come close to his mastry of guitar and songwriting. This album is a good example of why.Yes-Purple Haze has been WAY overplayed:and it's actually the WORST somg on this record.

First thing's first: this album sounds dated. But who cares when modern music's too far gone to rescue. that's why we're not on the modern page right? i do however think that the beauty of some of this music has become lost in the legend and that only happens with classic rock. Hendrix was a sloppy guitarist...sure he could play but too bad he was off his face on drugs most of the time because it really takes away from the music. The great psychedelic melodies and guitar lines which waver on the border between music and soundscape are incredible to me and probably down to his drug-taking but the playing is of a lot higher standard on all his studio albums than the band ever achieved at live shows. There are some brilliant soul moments like in Remember and weird quasi jazz like in 3rd Rock From The Sun. The instrumentation is all of a high standard but Jimi wasn't an alien; oh no: he was as limited as the rest of us, all he did was focus.

This is one of my favorite CDs. Jimi Hendrix is without a doubt one of the best guitar players ever. Purple Haze is one of my all-time favorite songs. I Think this one of the best examples of pur rock and roll.

Hendrix really took the world by storm with this truely special album. Anyone who wasn't sure who the greatest guitar player was made up their mind when they heard 'Hey Joe' and the many other classic songs on this album.

JIMI HENDRIX IS GOD. And this album is absolute genious. There is not ONE song that is not perfect-well written, well sung, well performed-simply perfect in everyway imaginable. From the amazingly beautiful 'The Wind Cries Mary' to the energetic and equally amazing 'Fire'. His heartfelt 'Manic Depression' along with his song about drug dependancy "Purple Haze' makes Are You Experienced an exceedingly personal as well as emotional record. The guitar rifts are stunning, the beats, the rhythms, EVERYTHING is stunning. This is my favorite classic album, along with Axis: Bold as Love (another Hendrix classic) and Stevie Wonder's "songs in the key of life." Go out and listen to this. There is no human way that you can't fall in Love.

It is the best debut album, period. Most classic Hendrix in his short career is right on Are You Experienced. The greatest guitarist to ever live is shown in his element here, with Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, and most of his other great work. If you are a true fan of rock and roll, you need to hear the material on this album. It is music, power, dazing, at its best.

What can you say about Jimi? He's the pioneer, he's what every other guitarist aspires to and this album proves it!

One of the best CD's ever by the greatest guitar player ever. This ground breaking album changed the face of rock and roll and wrote a new book on guitar playing. Check out Carlos Santana's and Pete Townshend's favorite guitar player!

Jimi playing throughout the whole album is enough to inspire any guitar player. Mitch Mitchell's drumming on "Manic Depression"- check out them triplets.

I worship Jimi Hendrix. I think I'm about to wear out this CD. This album has so many awesome songs. My favorite is "May This Be Love." "Waterfalls, nothing can harm me at all..." aaaaahhhhh! It makes me melt! "Hey Joe" is also one of my favorites. Yeah for Jimi Hendrix!

This is the classic Jimi CD with all the hits. Twenty songs including a live, almost 10 minute version of Wild Thing, and the national anthem performed at Woodstock. Not sure which Hendrix CD to buy? This is it.

Jimi Hendrix was so far ahead of his time in his short life. The thought of this album coming out in the late 60's is truly unbelievable. Are You Experienced has to be considered one of the, if not THE, best debut album in any genre, of any time period. You won't be able to help yourself but to love Jimi's charisma and want to hear more.

This collection of unbelievable music is a necessity to all rock lovers. Some of the greatest songs ever made all put onto one CD. Jimi Hendrix brought about a rock revolution that forever changed rock and roll as we know it. "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady," and many, many others, including the national anthem he played at Woodstock. A great combination of songs that took up such a short career, close to one of the best albums and artists ever.

Hendrix is a good man. His style is great. The influences that he brought out to society have made a tremendous change in many people's views. I have to rate it a 4 because he made good songs and he made me buy the CD.

Alive and creative. LIVE, unproduced almost. Lets the live artist roar. Jimi's own work. No market, untargeted at an audience. Timeless.

This is one great album. From the beautiful fade in of Foxy Lady onwards this album is a classic. Listen to Red House and just wonder at the feeling Jimi adds to each note, punctuated with the comment 'How's that'? Listen and learn, this man was god

Pretty amazing what a great "pop" record this is -- I mean, for all the guitar heroics and psychedelia -- there are just a bunch of absolutely classic rock songs on this that make in indispensible: "Purple Haze" "Wind Cries Mary" "Hey Joe" "Fire" "Foxy Lady" the title tune, etc...
