A loud, goofy album that is becoming a dreadful pleasure for me. . .still, if you came of age during that black hole known as the early 80's you simply had to own this album. Yes, sometimes the clock is slow. . .

They made 3 great albums, with this slightly better than the debut for my money. For non fans this is probably more accessible as it has a slightly poppier edge.

"Jump" was a little too poppy and only becomes more of a punchline as the years go by, but the rest of the album is pretty good. "Hot for Teacher", Panama", "I'll Wait", and the others made it at least a listenable album all the way through. Of course, coming out at the height of music video popularity, there were more than the fair share of cool videos from the album as well. I never had a teacher like that (Hot for Teacher).

Songs like Jump, Hot for Teacher, I'll Wait, Panama, Top Jimmy, those were strong songs for an album. In the 80's, it's all about the band. This album influenced me to play guitar.

Van Halen sold out on this album. Jump sounds like carnival music. MTV made this album popular because of the videos it produced. That is what VH was best at MTV videos. After the first four VH albums it is all downhill. EVH style never grew it remains the same and quite frankly you can only take so much!

This is just an okay cd. Jump is the big song off of here of course, but Panama is alright too. Other than that, it's run of the mill rock.

I find it ironic that Diamond Dave craved attention and popularity with VH and when 1984 was released they were in top form. It still baffles me that that was the last album before his departure. To this day, Dave and Eddie are like a nagging couple.

"Panama" is Van Halen's Signature Song. It rocks above all else.

This is definitely one of my most favorite groups. David Lee Roth made Van Halen a sensation, and without him they haven't been the same. 1984 brings back the best memories- all the songs are killer. I actually can't find this CD around anymore, I would love to buy it. "Hot for Teacher," "Panama," "Jump"- the videos are as good as the songs are.

It was about time that Eddie got over his fear of using keyboards in their music.

This song hooked me to rock. Yest, the year was 1984 and I was only 9 years old, but I rocked like I was a 17 year old. This is my definite choice for all star rock album. Even though they sold more records with Sammy Hagar, they couldn't capture when they had with David Lee Roth as lead. "Jump," "Panama," all classics.

The classic album. I was only 10 in 1984, but this album made me a Van Halen fan. This is the definitive Rock album. "Panama" and "Jump" are all classics and the other songs make this more powerful. They don't make albums like this anymore.

Van Halen's 1984 is another great CD. It had a trememdous effect on my time with music. My main influence was the guitarist. The style is so absolutely fantastic. I rate this a 4 because my influences were from them as well.

I really like this book because I thought it was a thoughtful commentary on totalitarianism and how human beings give their souls over to what is not right. Also, the whole idea of manipulating language to control people's thinking was interesting. However, it was the most depressing book I've ever read.

This has to be their greatest album since the brilliant 'Van Halen', its a great pity all their albums weren't this good!
