    yes,but i  would doubt he would have survived in 1944, against 51 47 usa planes which mersille didnt have chance too combat with.it was a very cruel ganme by 1944.but he was the greatest flyer that germans ever had, gary

    I had the pleasure of attending a gathering 1/10/04 at the new Air & Space addition--guest of honor was Guenther Rall. During the question and answer period, someone asked General Rall about Marseille. He said, He was an artist. That about sums it up--

    It is scary to think what this guy could have done if he had lived past 1942. If he would have been assigned to JG52 (Not saying he would have), he could have easily given Hartmann a run for his money as the best.

    In one combat mission Marseille attacked a formation of 16 P-40s all by himself and had shot down 6 P-40s after 11 minutes by the time he had to return to base because of low fuel and ammunition. this was only one of numerous occasions where Marseille used his expert flying. Marseilles life was sadly cut short on a fighter sweep over British territory. As his flight was returning to base his engine caught fire and had to bail, as he did he was hit in the chest by the rudder of his Bf-109. on his grave his comrades put wrote his name and rank, and put one word undefeated
