What a great memory of my childhood! I fondly remember how cool this video was.
72hammer 02/18/2006
The chick in the video is kinda hot. I'd do her.

my favorite all time...i love it!
babarox 05/15/2005
By me, one of the best vidéo ever made simply because, for the time, it was very ingenious, now, it`s much easier because of the computer. Very simple now to make something innovative and, yet, it seems now the conceptors don`t have much imagination: all they want to show is an artist who can sing and dance for five minutes or so. With that kind of video art, you`ll remember the steps, the wardrobe but not the song and that is not the goal...
JonTheMan 04/02/2005
Beautifully shot video, combining live action with spookily fluid pencil-drawn animation. The extreme overacting near the end of the video where the teary eyed girl watches the comic book man try to materialize into reality is hilarious.
Alexg681 01/27/2005
Pretty good video, but I think it's overrated, and I don't really like the song.
Chalky Studebaker 01/22/2005
Nothing compares w/this video. The animation and storyline of people trapped in a comic book is kind of corny but in a great way. A definite classic!
RushFan 01/22/2005
Maybe a one-hit wonder, but still a great video.
callitdownthel ine75 09/21/2004
The greatest 1980s music video, A-Ha's 'Take On Me' was also the most innovative of this wonderful decade. Who would have thought of mixing comic-sketch drawings with a storyline that takes place in a cafe? The music video spurred hope for many hopeless romantics in that dreams can come true if you truly believe. It is too bad, however, that 'Take On Me' served as A-Ha's one great song/music video, rendering this group merely as a one-hit wonder. But what a memorable hit it was.
southparker9 08/24/2004
For its time one of the best videos made. Creative and innovative I miss that in today's videos
Lifelines 03/12/2004
This band is STILL going strong even after this video... next gig for the band is June 4th in Bergen, Norway. Seven studio albums later and most folks don't even know they still to this day produce great music (and videos)! Find out what they're up to... www.a-ha.com
Rufieo30us 02/23/2004
This is a very unique and speical kind of video to watch. A-ha deserves to be recognized with the MTV VIDEO of the year award with this song. For those who have not seen yet, this video is about a girl who reads a comic book and the comic comes to life and invites her into his world. It is an overall neat experience to watch a real true romance come to life!
gregwb 01/01/2004
Cool video by a one-hit wonder. Although, I hear, they're still 'very big in Europe.'
tvtator 11/30/2003
Very cool use of animation and how they drew the band into the animation. I liked how the art and reality mixed. Still cool to watch today.
WarMaid 06/12/2003
Absolutely groundbreaking video coupled with a fun, catchy tune.
RebelYell1861 05/12/2003
Pure 80s
bigdondoo 05/12/2003
Take on me is a great video because it does what few videos even today can do, it took excellent viuals and combined them with a storyline to make a video that works and works well.
twinmom101 05/03/2003
For some reason this song and video are hypnotic. Now I think I like it more because it reminds me of when I was growing up, but I thought the lead singer was so cute when I was 10. Even now I have 28 year-old guy friends who embarassingly admit they love this video. Long Live The 80's!!!!!
kamylienne 03/19/2003
Just as a video: it was a really interesting concept, especially for that time period, and again, for that time period, it was pulled of extremely well; the mixture of animation and real life was very fluid. This is probably not the absolute best music video, or maybe not even in the top 100, but it's still really innovative and well done considering that it was done when the concept of the music videos was still in its infancy.
Sharon3802 02/26/2003
I love this video! AAAA++++
shadow280 01/05/2003
I was born after this video was realesed, but I still watch it whenever I can. Great lyrics, good rhythem, and sweet, sweet video! The song hooked me by itself, and the video seals it as one of the greatest songs of all time.
zuchinibut 12/09/2002
Great song and cool video...one of coolest from the 80's.
lukskywlkr. 11/14/2002
Definitely an eighties time capsule object. I actually like this song still, and the video did have some innovative use of animation.
r_mitchell 09/30/2002
Have to give my 5 cents here even though it's already been said over and over that this is one of the greatest videos. "Take on Me" was not only a great song but had a video that carried the energy of the song all the way through it. It had an innovative storyline about a guy stuck in the comic book world trying to cross to the other side (reality). The mirror scene where they see each other as real but are cartoons on the outside is just an example of why this video is one of the greatest out there.
stuck_inthe_80 s 05/07/2002
Great song....I can really move to it.
a-haFan 05/07/2002
How in the world can such a great song not bring forth any other good ones. at least any other good ones in the US. With the release of their new album this month 4/2002, check it out btw...maybe this one will have a chance to be released in the US. perhaps if all the albums had been released in the US they would have had more popularity. of course MTV and the video of Take On Me made it even more successful. Nevertheless, MTV hardly ever plays videos anymore. so its a wonder that anyone gets any publicity at all other than the TV. Simply put, Take one me is brilliant, poppy and can you say "SOOOO 80's!!??"
fubugurlie 04/08/2002
YO PEOPLE....DIZ SONG IZ TIGHT!!!
UTVOLUSN 03/27/2002
The song is great but even without the music the video would still be entertaining. A truely one of a kind, innovative, artistic masterpiece.
wukiegrrrl 02/16/2002
I think that is the best video ever... especially becuase it was done in the 80's when the editing technology wans't that great to begin with... if anyone knows where i can get this video online... please let me know
Texx 12/03/2001
Terrible song but on of the truly first visually stunning things seen on MTV. Stood out in the "shot on video" dawn of the video age.
humphreybbear 11/28/2001
Ah, the good old days. Who could forget the spunk who popped out of a grimy newspaper and landed on the floor of a cheap English cafe? This song is the best. Bring back the 80's - today's music sucks.
Badclive 11/19/2001
At the time it was simply the most amazing thing that had been seen on a music video - truly groundbreaking. It still looks great 15 years later - everyone who has seen it just once remembers it - what more can you say!?!
candylandjoe 07/05/2001
kinda sucks that no one knows this song without the video.
bob falange 05/21/2001
A very good song, expertly sung - consider the vocal range (try singing along to it to confirm this, without changing key!). This stylish and imaginative video made a huge impression at the time. A wonderful achievement.

This is 80s were talkin about here!!!
crazy_byrd 03/08/2001
80s cheese at it's best.....how cool is this video?? I love the part when he pulls the girl through the door and she turns into a cartoon! Very innovative for an 80s video.
JonWeHo 01/27/2001
One of the greatest videos ever.
emassey 12/17/2000
First it's a great song. Secondly, the way he used the hand drawing to illustrate the video through pencil drawings was creative and different, so you can appreciate the difference from the other videos.
buttons 11/27/2000
This video is a classic. I became hooked on it when I was 10 years old by watching it on VH-1. It's a cute mix of live action and animation; a girl steps into a comic book and carries on a romance with its main character. It's very 80's, but charmingly so.
haji 11/22/2000
I love 80's music. It's totally senseless and cheesy, and completely unaplogetic about it. "Take On Me" by itself is a good song but the video is a classic. Its special effects wowed people at the time but are kinda' lame now, to a lot of people. I think it's still cool, though. Also, the band is really cute.
crue6519et 05/11/2000
You MUST be joking!
flai4749om 03/18/2000
This video is awesome. I remember watching it many years ago (when I was very young) and being totally fascinated -- it was so different. Even today, there is not another video like it.

The best bit Altered States and a top choon. It works for me!

Work of art.

A one-hit wonder, but a very cool video.

Take On Me is one of the best singles ever released! It's in the same group as Imagine, Frozen, The Everlasting, Returne To Innocence, Losing My Religion, Radio, The Sign, Candle In the Wind, Can You Feel the Love Tonight? & What's Up?! :o)
