I have never seen it, and I hope to God I never do. TV game shows are what they use for entertainment in Hell.

I don't normally get this channel in my current package, but it will occasionally be thrown in for about 2 or 3 weeks for the sole purpose of nothing more than "teasing" viewers to buy extra channels. But I welcome it when it does come on, as it gives (for a little while, anyway) something a little different to watch. They have a lot of the classics, like "$25,000 Pyramid", "Press Your Luck", and old "Wheel of Fortune" episodes in which Vanna White still turned the letters by hand, placing me back in time with a taste of nostalgic memories of when I was younger. But I don't become too attached, so that when they take it away, it is very easy to shrug it off, and be happy with the programming I have.

I used to love this channel but they have gotten largely away from showing the classic game shows.

With my interest in classic gameshows re-ignited after lying dormant for a while, I seem to have not had a better time to do so as GSN has risen from the ashes of the "dark period" from years ago to a reasonably good schedule. There are many classics airing daily like Wheel of Fortune, Super Password, Blockbusters, Tic Tac Dough and more. Also, on the weekend, there is Body Language, Card Sharks, Child's Play and more. Sure, I don't really care about their original productions and I have no interest in their poker, but I realize that's part of their profit margin. And, yes, I would love to see classic The Price is Right, Scrabble, Classic Concentration, Name That Tune and more, but hey--any TV network could get better and GSN (unlike TV Land) still believes in some dynamic and fluid schedule changes that aren't extraordinarily drastic.

Very good games, like Password and Match game.
CloudTen 11/10/2006
Love Match Game and many of the old shows. On Christmas Day last year, they had 5 hours of a Betty White Christmas, which was excellent. I loved seeing her on What's My Line many years ago in black and white, then with her husband, Allen on Password, and many other shows. Hope they do that again this year.

Love this network. I love watching the older game shows...check out the clothes and hairdos...
clinevol98 04/03/2006
another channel, like discovery channel and tlc, that has gone way downhill in recent years.

I could watch this channel all did, and I actually use too. I am a game show junky, so I am biased, but I couldn't get enough of the old Match Game stuff, the old Family Fued shows, Inquizition, Joker, Joker, Joker, and others I can't remember. However, this is before the network changed entirely, so I don't how GSN compares to the Game Show Network. I also relied on the Game Show Network to show classic stuff. GSN seems a lot more modern now.

This can be a good channel if they fixed it up a bit. They need to play different shows instead of the same ones all the time. I like to watch vintage game shows to find out what kind of cars they gave out as prizes back then. I seen a couple of old Pontiac Firebirds from the 1970's on Lets Make a Deal.
GenghisTheHun 10/17/2005
Booooring. Enough is enough already. Really, how many morons can you watch?
PlayMisty 10/13/2005
Game Show Network, as it was once known, was great back when it used to run old game shows, the Goodson-Todman collection. Now, all it runs is crap at night. And the black & white classics are relegated to the wee hours of the morning. Bring back the classics!!!

A great channel to have. I agree with the other poster that there is no need to put on any poker or douge ball, but able to see the classic show like cards sharks and match game should be their main focus.

Shortly after Game Show Network was added to our local cable TV service, the network immediately became part of my regular viewing hours. For the first time since USA Network, I had hours of classic game show reruns for my daily enjoyment. Back then there were shows produced specially for the network, such as As Seen On and Inquizition, but such shows never dominated the network's schedule. As the years went by, Game Show Network presented more original game shows to the schedule alongside new additions such as Press Your Luck, another show I enjoyed on the USA Network. Whammy and Lingo were enjoyable, Friend or Foe showed us the worst in people, and Cram seemed out of place on a network dedicated to game shows. Speaking of dedicated, that word would no longer apply as Game Show Network continued to focus less on the classic shows spanning much of the history of television. Every once in a while shows such as Hot Potato, Bullseye, and the pilot Lets Make A Deal would appear, but the focus was clearly going into a different direction. The lost of The Price is Right can be seen as a sign that the leadership was changing the focus. Shows like GSN Video Games would eventually show up, making loyal viewers say why and what in the world. Later we would realize what Game Show Network was actually doing, they wanted to become the network for games rather than game shows in general. Before Game Show Network became the meaningless GSN (AMC is another example), loyal viewers were still left wondering whether the network cared for them or not. Adding Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to the schedule was an excellent decision, but it never made up for a schedule that seemed stale and programmed by a network in need of profit. Black & white games such as What's My Line and Password aired in the early morning hours and rare shows such as Tic Tac Dough, The Gong Show, and other versions of To Tell The Truth were hidden away. Attempts at gaining The Price is Right again, along with more shows from long ago (Concentration and Name That Tune) are becoming more impossible or unlikely everyday. Today Game Show Network tries to bring in viewers of both the classic and non-traditional game shows they want to show, unfortunately the silent majority continue to be treated like dirt. I'll put it this way, there was a time when television didn't have constant on-screen promotions, tickers, animated promotions, shrunken tickers, and TV ratings. Game Show Network sadly represents that sort of television today, but I still try to watch the classics no matter how mistreated or overexposed. Hopefully more game shows will become available on digital video discs (DVD), since they are now our only escape for basic cable and broadcast TV's mistreatment of our favorites, old and new.

Used to be a good channel, but lately all they show is game shows with difficult to follow rules. Still all in all fun to watch
sfalconer 12/22/2004
Some of their new shows are ok especially Whammy but it is hard to get excited about old game shows. The only one I really like is Greed, I liked that show and was disappointed when Fox took it off.
uneek 10/09/2004
I love the game show channel. But honestly, it cant be that hard to get licenses from different shows to get more stuff on here.
dinah 09/28/2004
what happened to this channel?
tdubya71 07/25/2004
I used to have this when I had Digital Cable, but the channel has gone downhill even before I dropped it. I've heard they have dodgeball and poker now. Poker is on about 3 or 4 other channels, why on GSN?
VinnyIN 05/17/2004
This network went down the toilet when they stopped airing Jeopardy! episodes older than 1997. Now today, we get stupid card games and interactive series. And even worse are GSN's original shows like Fake-A-Date and Kenny vs Spenny. My how far GSN has fallen.
Redoedo 04/03/2004
Fun and entertaining. Features a wide variety of different game shows.
traveltutor 10/30/2003
I love watching those old games shows. Particularly Match Game and The Newlywed Game. The sexist comments and groovy fashions are a testament to the seventies. I view these shows as historical documents.
mst3k4evr 04/29/2003
Five years ago when I first discovered this network, I would have given it 5 stars. Sadly this has changed. Now the majority of the shows that they are airing is their original programming and the old game shows that DO air are the same ones that they air over and over again. Match Game is a perfect example. They literally show this at least 6 times a day. I can only take so much of it. This network had a LOT of promise, but now it has gone down the drain, thanks to those meddling kids that don't like "those moldy game shows"(my cousin's opinion). Go watch your MTV, kiddies.
Joe23665 04/20/2003
Match Game!
drbanner 03/22/2003
I finally got this channel! I watch it more than any other one. The only negative thing I can say about it is: recently they had a Gong Show "marathon" but it was only 6 episodes repeated. Still a great network.
staytherelass 02/18/2003
I loved this channel when it mainly showed classic game shows, but I rarely watch it anymore.Too much of their horrible new shows!Ugh! I watch MATCH GAME,FAMILY FEUD,and other classsics on there.I just wish the classics were given priority.
ratemaster1984 02/09/2003
I like a lot of their original games along with most of the classics! You can't beat Match Game!
Jason1972 01/23/2003
It's funny to watch what the contestants wore in the 70s, other than that, I don't watch it regularly
lukskywlkr. 11/28/2002
Complete waste of a channel if you ask me. Who wants to watch old game shows and see people with bad hair and ugly get-ups?
typhoon 07/28/2002
Price is Right, Family Feud, Jeperdy, Wheel of Fortune, Card Sharks are all great game shows. i really love game shows and game show networks
Snoopy 12/14/2001
I don't like watching game shows. I'd rather be the one winning all that money and those prizes.
kissmerichard 05/30/2001
If it weren't for Family Feud and Match Game, I never would have discovered this network. As long as they keep those two, along with the rest of the Goodson-Todman library, this channel will prosper.
NikiLispi 04/05/2001
Even though I love old game shows, GSN is showing less and less of them. They are attempting to attract younger viewers with their STUPID, INANE original games. Bring back the classics!!!
callmetootie 04/04/2001
Corny, cheesy, stupid, wacky, shows....I love it! The Game Show Network came to my house a few monthes ago, but sadly it stayed for only a week. I taped tons of game shows off of it, that I've never even heard of. It's like $30.00 a month for this show. I wouldn't pay it, but I would if it was $3.00 a motn.
bluecookie 11/25/2000
I love Inquizition, Card Sharks, Jokers Wild and the Celebrity editions of shows. I hate the old game shows though.
Lou28JG 10/19/2000
The only network to air Match Game. This alone gives it a 5 star rating. I wish they would stop shoving their silly original shows down our throats and start showing more old shows from the 50's and 60's.
jayn7123om 06/05/2000
Excellent if for no other reason than "Match Game '7_". Out loud funny even now. Long live Gene Rayburn in reruns! Also really enjoy the Sunday night black and white shows.
Bozo4124om 02/13/2000
I want them to show more old black and white shows.
HalJor 01/22/2000
I watch this channel every day -- great way to forget your troubles.
Shafty 01/22/2000
