The focus on "Learning" has become limited to lessons on the extremes to which people will go to sell their pathetic souls for a little public recognition. I'm sure there was some movie made in the 1970's warning us that society would come to this. I think it was written by Paddy Chayefsky.

TLC is quickly becoming the cesspool of tv, joining Lifetime. It's so stupid-- from shows about conjoined twins, the world's heaviest man, douchebag family w/twenty kids, Jon and Kate....wow. But the best part of all this is if you watch tonight, you'll see my story on TLC. It's called: 'The 5ft8in, 150lb man.' Oh yes, it profiles me getting rejected from the NBA because I'm too short but yet, I'm still tall enough to ride amusement park rides. Give me my damn money, TLC.

The TLC has great programmes, except for Jon and Kate Plus Eight, which has turned into a true fiasco. Kate is after money and fame; it is not too difficult to see she is not about the kids, nor a good mother. It is time the TLC replaces the programme with one with more substance. People who still watch it are only interested in the couple scandal, not how Kate brings up her children; she is anything but a good role-model. My rating clearly reflects my disappointment in realizing TLC has not ended the programme yet. It is hard for me to understand what makes TLC hang on to this programme surrounded by so much scandal, which, in my view, does not add to the good reputatation of the TLC.

The ruling elite no longer want to allow scientific, historic, natural, or any form of educational shows being aired. Education is bad for public.TLC was first to be eliminated, mark my words, Discovery is undergoing the same thing...

TLC-Trash Lover's Channel. If I see another tattoo show, I will scream, most of their programming is worthless.

It is mediocre any more. It has too much good competition that does the same things only better.

Used to have interesting shows. Now unless you like re-arranging furniture, picking out someones wardrobe, or making somebody elses place look cheap and tacky don't bother checking out TLC. Junkyard wars used to be fun but too many "american" changes to it weakened the show.

They had a good mix but are starting to go downhill. They had a great franchise with Trading Spaces then messed around with it and it's no fun to watch any more. And why did they not give their only true star, Paige Davis, another show? Even the Comedy Channel recycles Corolla (for unknown reasons).

Life Unscripted? Why not change the name of TLC to The Home Depot Channel. What the heck happened? Not a single thing is there to learn except maybe how to change a room or two in your house. Utterly pathetic.

TLC, what the hell happened? I use to look forward to all the broadcasts, but now? Rename yourself TMC- The makeover channel, because the only crap you show now is home decorating crap!

Frivolous, shallow, non-intellectual, and consumer-driven shows. A travesty to the title that they use.

As The Learning Channel TLC gets one star. While the shows are entertaining and informative, the present incarnation of this once legitimately educational venue teaches only one thing: consumerism. If TLC change its name to The Learning to Shop at Home Depot Channel, I'd give it 5 stars.

This used to be The Learning Channel but now the only thing people are learning is which designer can ruin someone's house first.

I used to love this channel, even suffered through Junkyard Wars at times. But Secrets of Forensic Medicine is awful. Tonight it must have been a marathon as the camera watched women being beaten to death one program after another. It was the most graphic depiction I have seen on camera, much worse than on the public stations. Is this truly what we want to teach on the learning channel? Because of this I downgrade TLC to three stars.r

Good Channel with some great shows but, unfortunately, they get a little too carries away on vehicle and medical shows. Also, those morning home improvement and makeover shows don't belong on there. Please take them off and put something more appropiate such as a nature, history, or science show instead.

TLC used to show quality programs, however recently it has become a DIY channel. What is going on in the world? Since when are programs like What Not to Wear, Chrisotpher Lowell and Trading Spaces educational? C'mon TLC - at least give a half hearted attempt to live up to your name!

Never watched this channel -- don't like being inside someone's body or watching real people's pain and anguish. Plus they are in the Discovery Channel list of channels and the DC has totally ruined BBCA with repetitive DIY and gardening shows. Looks like they're spreading the wealth in that regard while reading some of these comments. This channel and its cousins in the Discovery Channel lineup are not welcomed in my home nor any of their advertisers' products.

I agree with a former poster. More nature, history, science, and other REAL educational programming, and less of those home improvement, exercise, etc. shows on this and other so-called "educational" channels. There exist many hundreds of excellent educational videos which ordinary people have a hard time purchasing at $80 or so a tape from special educational video/CD catalogs. Why is it one cannot even get decent programming on the "educational" channels most of the time?

This channel is so much better than many other channels, but also sucks compared to some channels. It is somewhere in the middle on the cable tv roster. Sometimes I found the channel to be boring, but you can learn stuff if you watch long enough.

A great channel! I love Junkyard Wars...and I hate to admit it, since I'm a guy, but Trading Spaces is pretty cool, too. They have some great specials on, and some interesting shows about UFOs and other pop culture. This is a great channel!!! TLC! TLC! TLC! YAY!

What happened? What is the deal with all these home decorating shows and makeover programs? What exactly are people "learning" from this? All that nonsense belongs on the home & garden channel. Bring back programming that we can actually LEARN something from! I DON'T CARE what Joe so-and-so chooses to decorate his apartment with! I DON'T CARE what kind of shoes Jane is going to wear for her wedding! Please cease and desist.

TLC, best known not so long ago as The Learning Channel went through a slow transition in programming thanks to the success of its most popular show "Trading Spaces. The channel still airs programs that you can really learn something from, but it won't be too long until all those shows are finally gone. Funny how these channels have been changing their programming in recent years.

They show too many home improvement programs for my tastes, but I do enjoy Trading Spaces, and every once in a while they will have an excellent documentary. A few days ago, they did one on Patricia Cornwell's search for the real Jack the Ripper, and she had some VERY convincing arguments to the fact that she knows who he was. I was so convinced, I went out a couple days later and purchased her book on the subject. I hope TLC will have more programs along that line.

It used to be good. But, now...now...well just look at its motto: Life unscripted. Translation: more poor-natured, uncensored, explotative, reality dreck that isn't family-friendly. Avoid this station and watch Life Scripted on TV Land!

i am 14 and i watch it all the time! the stuff is EDUCATIONAL and way better than crap on MTV! well, ok, Mtv is Ok, but i love tlc. it is so realistic, and people need to learn that they should be grateful for what they have(especially while watching the POOR POOR people on Trauma: life in the er). yes, yes, i don't like gory scenes either...but sometimes there is just a sprained ankle, so if u see something u don't like(like i do)change the channel!!
