An A+ performance in The Machinist.  Definitely worth watching if you have a chance.  If I had not seen his name on the cover I doubt I would have realized it was him!  He lost so much weight for the role it was scary looking at him.  But I love him just the same!   Oh, & who could forget him in American Pyscho-perfect again.

He just keeps getting better every time I seem him. Very versatile actor. One of the few to make a strong transition from a "child actor".

The dude is a great actor..verstility is onthe low as he has a distinct style of his own and is hard to get out of that skin...

Awesome Actor.  He'll probably never win an Oscar though.  Not until the Oscars stop being "the Essence Awards" anyway.

I really think Bale is going to succeed a lot in his acting career. He's such a grest actor now and which means he's going to be outstanding. He's going to be a legend.

CHRISTIAN BALE IS ONE OF THE BEST ACTORS ALIVE...DEFINATELY TOP 20.

A few weeks before I saw it, someone told me that Bale is the lead actor in Werner Herzog's brilliant new film, Rescue Dawn. When I finally saw the film, I didn't recall that it was Bale until I saw the credits roll. That shows you how well Bale blends into his roles. (Or how forgetful I am.) Probably the best actor of his generation.

OK, I will say it -- hubba hubba!!  He is a handsome guy, and a really good actor.  I was impressed with him when he was young in Spielbergs Empire of the Sun, and then he just got better and better.  Lots of different roles, and I have to say the BEST Batman ever!  His was the only Batman I could watch more than 15 minutes of the movie--I watched the whole thing and totally enjoyed it!   He is like Kevin Spacey in that he seems to disappear into his roles.  I hope he continues to get great parts and can show more and more of his excellent acting.

He's made some oddball choices with his career but I admire his attempts at stretching his range. Mesmerizing in "The Machinist." I think he'll probably go far. Extra points for managing a believable American accent.

Christian Bale is an extremely talented actor. I was blown away with his performance in Empire of the Sun. Even at such a young age he showed a wisdom and maturity well beyond is years, and has continued to impress me with his varied and somewhat challenging roles.
Apart from Empire of the Sun my favorite performances of his are The Machinist and the controversial American Psycho.
I also have to give him credit for his great ability to change accents so well. I only recently heard his real accent, and I didnt even recognize it. I hold him in even higher regard for that.

He deserves to get an Oscar for Best Actor sometime soon. Not only is he a great actor now, but he was also great when he was a kid in Speilberg's Empire of the Sun. American Psycho, Equilibrium, The Machinist, and Batman Begins are all movies in which he gives a worthy performance. I'm really amazed at how he transformed from a buff superhero in Batman Begins to a malnourished (literally skin and bones) factory worker in The Machinist. He's dedicated to every character he has to play.

Amazing intensity. Who else can go from deathly thin in "The Machinist" to, as the story goes, TOO beefy for Batman. Bale has always amazed me in his many roles that never seem to be stale or anything ordinary. He has done a wide variety of roles spanning from his musical lead in "Newsies" to his flawless performance in the psycho-thriller "American Thriller", to the bullseye performance of the Dark Knight. I bow to you, Mr. Bale.

Christian Bale is The Best Actor Alive. His limitless range is obvious after you've watched all his films. His performance in Empire of the Sun was simply amazing. Unlike some other actors who only play themselves in different situations, Bale disappears into his characters, like a shape-shifter, he molds himself into a complete new person with distinguished body language, voice, accent and appearance. He transforms himself both physically and mentally and manages to come back to start anew. Just watch him in American Psycho and The Machinist. His performances in both of these films are unforgetable and incredible, worthy of an Oscar nomination. American Psycho is not just a film but a piece of art, not everyone's cup of tea but those who appriciate it know what I mean. Same thing with The Machinist, he literally becomes Trevor Reznik. Each and every time he performs he proves that he has mastered his craft. He is totally believable as Bobby in All the Little Animals. He's so natural and so moving as Laurie in Little Women. He surprises you as Arthur in Velvet Goldmine and mesmerizes you as John Preston in Equilibrium. He always serves the character and not himself with an incredible range and depth. No matter what film he's in, He gives his best performance. This brilliant actor has also performed in Newsies, Swing Kids ,Metroland,Reign of Fire, laurel Canyon and many more. And last but not least he gave us the best Batman ever in Batman Begins. A great movie and a brilliant performance. His upcoming films are The New world, Harsh Times, Rescue Dawn and Prestige.

Great in American Pyscho but little else.

It's been two years since someone last rated Christian Bale. Since then, he has been in The Machinist and Batman Begins. He created memorable characters in Empire of the Sun and American Psycho. He has improved his resume even more with his latest movies, showing that he has the range to be any character. He deserved at least an Oscar nomination for his role in The Machinist, where his body was literally skin and bones. Then he beefed up to play Batman in Batman Begins. He is by far the best Batman, and was one of the reasons why Batman Begins is the greatest Batman movie ever made. His next movie The New World looks very good, and I believe he should win an Oscar very soon. He is very underrated.

He was very good in "Shaft" and "American Psycho." He is the perfect as the eternal, "bad guy."

I have to admit something first-off...I've only seen one of Christian Bale's movies (Swing Kids). Judging by the other comments posted, I need to expand that list a bit. And I will. In the one movie I did see, though, he added a lot to the story and developed his character very well, which is why I decided to look for him on this site. :)

To bad there wasn't a higher rating than this one for this young man! Christian is undoubtedly one of the finest, in every sense of the word, and most talentedly gifted young actors around these days. It's a shame to say it, but you definitely see it with many of the other actors that are out there and have come to where they are based on how they look or who they know in the industry; but truly leave much to be desired on pure talent and range. Thank God this is NOT SO with Mr. Bale! It's a shame that those in a position to promote this remarkable jewel of acting talent and ability, continue to overlook this rare gem! As for non-descript individuals who refer to themselves with names of nutritionally valueless lumps of artery clogging, calory contributing, cholesterol filled fried pastry dough, I have quite a full life allowing me quite a lot of experience on many different levels in a broad range of areas! I'm proud and glad to say being a "Balehead" is only one of them! Might add that you take yourself up on your own suggestion and "get yourself a life".

Christian Bale is the most underrated actor in movies today! He's amazing to watch in any performance, interview or appearance.

Ever since I saw Empire of the Sun, I have been mesmerized with Christian bale. His performances are always subtle,intelligent and thoroughly believable. if you have never seen a movie with Christian bale in it, I would suggest Little Women and Newsies for kids and teens. For adults, I think Velvet Goldmine, All the Little Animals, and Empire of the Sun are all good choices. After you've seen a couple of his movies, I think you will understand what the Baleheads are so excited about!

This is the year of Christian Bale! Finally, this man is being recognised for what he is - one of the best and most versatile actors of our generation (or, indeed, any generation!) I know we can look forward to many more great things from Christian. And hey, Hollywood, wake up and bring on those Oscars, OK?

Christian Bale is a wonderful actor. He is better then any other actor! And has only done the best movies.

What amazes me the most about this talented actor is the diversity in roles that he chooses to perform. Just because Christian's not "mainstream" doesn't mean he's any less talented than some of the "bigshots" out there. No one, in my opinion, could pull off Patrick Bateman's character in American Pyscho as he did. In all honesty, I wasn't convinced of that until I read the book. It's uncanny the way he brought Pat Bateman to life. His other work is exceedingly brilliant as well. Christian Bale shines!!!!

I think that Christian Bale is one of the finest actors to come along in quite a while. His range is amazing...he is as deft with comedy as he is with drama. We will definitely be seeing more of Christian Bale in the future as others discover his many talents!

Christian Bale can literally play ANY role. He played a psychopathic killer in American Psycho, and Jesus Christ in Mary Mother of Jesus. And those were back to back. If that's not range, then I don't know what is. Any of his other roles back this up even more.

Christian Bale is the best actor I have ever seen on the screen. Sadly, he's not as well known as he should be as fellow fans knows all to well. But, he truly is the best. At dancing, singing, acting. He even has the best rating out of all the actors now. What a accomplishment. Maybe now, he'll get the attention and respect he deserves.

From a starring role as a child actor in "Empire of the Sun" to an impressive leap to adult professional in "American Psycho", Bale has proven he has lasting power. The conviction he puts into his work (whether in large roles or in character parts) does not set him apart from the rest of the cast, instead his performance is blended into the film. I don't see that as such a bad thing. It is the roles where we forget the actor is acting that deserve to be recognized. Bale doesn't need to be in the limelight to shine as is evident in the likes of "Velvet Goldmine" and even "Little Women". True, he's no DeNiro or Hopkins, but he's also not as experienced as them either. I do believe he has quite a ways to go, but I'm giving him five stars, because his potential is outstanding, and based on the range of roles he's played in the past (He went from playing Jesus to playing a young man who was mildly retarded to a psychopath all within the space of two years), he has a VERY impressive resume. I, personally, can't wait to see what he does next.

Christian Bale is one of the best actors of his time. Most people that aren't big fans has only seen him in American Pyscho(which he gave a superb performance). But all the rest of his movies are all so great. Each of his performances seem so real alive. He does wonders to the characters he potrays and the movies themselves.And his talents are surprising, from singing (great voice)and dancing in Newsies, to swing dancing in Swing Kids. His role in Little Women was heartwarming. He gets so invovlved in all the movies. You can tell because he learns a new accent for each movie he makes. all of his films that i've seen have been fantastic. every one has prvoked some sort of reaction in me - something i find rare in most films. so far i think american psycho has been my favourite, surelty there is no other actor that could have played patrick bateman as convincingly. christian bale is a wonderful actor.

Christian Bale is simply amazing. Not only is he wonderful on screen, but he's just as brilliant off screen. He's talented, charitable, and beautifully down to earth when it comes to his massive fan club. I noticed some people complaining that he doesn't belong in the class of Robert DeNiro and Tom Hanks, but i think that's complete nonsense. He is just as good, if not better than both of those men. And for people who think Baleheads have no life, you are mistaken! Baleheads do have lives, we just like to take a little time out to adore quite possibly the greatest actor of the millinneum. And there's nothing wrong with looking up to a brilliant man such as Christian Bale.

Christian Bale is by far the most versitle actor since, since... well, forget it no one compares. If you're looking for deep, moving, penetrating characters follow Bale's movie trail and all other fail. He can BE anything he choses, he just understands a story, a role and simply ACTS. And seems to live his personal life like your next door neighbor. No drugs, no antics just a regular guy. (Now, why don't my neighbors look like that?)

I became a Christian Bale fan when I saw him act opposite Emily Watson in Metroland. I then made it a point, to see all of his movies, including his original performance in American Psycho. Christian is an excellent actor and "owns" all of the parts he plays, no matter how diverse. I'm part of the Balehead Army and I'm proud....

I first noticed Christian back in 1987 when he starred in Empire of the Sun. I was 7 when I watched it (will be 21 in June) and have been a balehead ever since. Christian is a very talented actor and good-looking too. I have seen the majority of his films and have enjoyed them. I would have to say all of the films I have seen are favorites because of Christian's acting and other things. I still have not Heart of the Country, A Murder of Quality, The Secret Agent, and All the Little Animals, but I think his acting is most likely very good in them. I cannot walk to see his new films, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Equilibrium, and Reign of Fire. I suggest watching Empire of the Sun, Newsies, Little Women, Velvet Goldmine, Metroland, and American Psycho if you have never seen any of Christian's films, but any film of his should be seen because of his acting ability.
