The first five or six years were the best. It is funny, I preferred the Jefferson character to Steve but Jefferson was the only great thing about the mid and late years.

gooooooooooooo bundy!

What can you say about the family that made most house holds seem normal.
Sunglass10 04/10/2008
So funny.
irishgit 04/10/2008
I tried to see this for the parody that some people tried to tell me it was, but all I ever saw was ignorant, repetive crap and jokes you could see coming five minutes away.

The "All in the Family" of the 80s
Spike65 04/09/2008
Some funny stuff at times but not worth watching the bug-eyed over-acting on a regular basis. The two kids were the best actors on the show. Too bad Bud ended up so short! The best thing on the show was the theme song.
Lars7724 03/30/2008
One of the funniest shows Ever on TV. Very over the top, but many good episodes of this Series. Classic
GenghisTheHun 12/20/2007
I tried to watch this show a few times and my interest expired. The theme was mean spirited, salacious and stupid. Just what our fast sinking modern culture ordered. Watch our society go down the drain.

Devoid of any moral value whatsoever.

I"m sorry, but nothing about this show was at all funny to me.

loved this show growing up, now my kids love watching it.
Victor83 08/12/2007
I could not agree with MissPackRat more. A show about a slob and a slut.
Jamie McBain 08/12/2007
The fact that the whole family, usually got on each nerves, and that it wasn't like one of the shows, where everyone in the family was happy, and a big lesson is learned at the end, was one of my favorite things about the show.
arl3289 07/21/2007
super funny should and still can make movie
adamadagirl 06/03/2007

VeracruzD 04/11/2007
The show as hilarious when seen as a satirical look at family life. The best two episodes were when the family camped out at the grocery store and wound up in a shopping contest with Marcy and Jefferson. The surprise guest was none other than Jerry Mathers of Leave It to Beaver fame. Remember the smack down between Bud, Kelly and Jerry Mathers. Bud said to Jerry, "So you spent all your money on cheap booze and donuts". Jerry's reply, "Well, at least my father doesn't sell women's shoes". Priceless!!
Jeremy00081 09/18/2006
Very, very funny show, but it's so trashy, sometimes I had to turn it off. I know the trashiness is mostly what makes it so funny, but sometimes enough is enough. 4 and a half stars because it's just so damn funny.
badbearduke 05/16/2006
They don't make 'em like this anymore! A real classic! Too bad they never got to make a final episode.

MY HUSBAND THINKS THIS SHOW IS THE GREATEST.

A good show with some great acting...I recently watched a lifetime movie with Katy Sagal where she dies of cancer and I have to say wow what a performance! They are all very talented people even if the show is a little stupid at times.
Andrew Gilmore 11/25/2005
OK. Ive got to admit, this show is a guilty pleasure of mine- I just cant help laughing at it. Being a teenager, the first thing that attracted me to the show was the sex appeal of Katey Sagal and especially Christina Applegate, but when I started watching the reruns regularly, I realized that, while the show perhaps deserves its reputation for sleaziness, it is often genuinely funny. Like South Park, while the raunchiness of the show has been heavily criticized, there is more to the show than that. There are a lot of sex jokes on Married With Children, but not every joke is stupid and crass. For proof of the shows genuine comedic appeal, just look at the superb characterization of Ed O Neill, who is undoubtedly the backbone of the show. He is a damn funny comic actor- his voice and delivery were funny, he had great timing, and his facial expressions were priceless. Al Bundy is a grand buffoon and a truly great comic character. I sometimes identify with him and his attitude that life just isnt fair and never will be, but you have to keep on trying, which is perhaps best expressed in his own words: So you think Im a loser? Just because I have a stinkin job that I hate, a family that doesnt respect me, a whole city that curses the day I was born? Well, that may mean loser to you, but let me tell you something. Every morning when I wake up, I know its not going to get any better until I go back to sleep again. So I get up, have my watered-down Tang and still-frozen Pop Tart, get in my car with no upholstery, no gas and six more payments, to fight traffic just for the privelige of putting cheap shoes on the cloven hooves of people like you. Ill never play football like I thought I would- Ill never know the touch of a beautiful woman- and Ill never again know the joy of driving without a bag on my head. But Im not a loser. Because despite it all, me and every other guy who will never be what he wanted to be are still out there being what we dont want to be, forty hours a week, for life. And the fact that I havent put a gun in my mouth, you pudding of a woman, makes me a winner! As you can see from that speech, underneath all the misanthropy and slovenliness, there was after all something redeeming and human about Al. Life kept kicking him in the pants, and despite all his jokes about killing himself, he never gave up hope- he gave it the best he could. THAT is why the audience cheered for him whenever he would enter a scene.

This is a very funny show. I loved the theme song.
GobTheHotCop 10/26/2005
I love this show still (except the last season)!!! Al is a classic! Kelly was the hottest girl on TV!!!
edt4 09/30/2005
Ed O'Neill was that rare comedian who seemed to have some genuine comedic talent but could also make me laugh based just on the way he looked. Still, he alone wasn't enough to carry what was, in the final analysis, a dreary little show for those with little imagination and much nastiness of spirit. I guess it had its moments, but it made a religion out of slob humor, which got tiresome real fast, and there was a hollowness at its core that all the leering, sexist jokes in the world couldn't hide. Ultimately more boring than bawdy.
rjy 08/12/2005
This is a good show to watch.
lucasboy 06/10/2005
One of the funniest shows on television. I loved it and never missed an episode. Took crudeness to a new level on tv.
Randyman 04/22/2005
For the first few years this was a great show but when they became caricatures of themselves it began to go downhill. Al just got to be to gross, eventually I lost interest, although I still like watching some of the early reruns.
kattwoman 04/02/2005
it was totally new and sooo funny. at least the first 2 and 3 seasons were.peg bundy was my hero.
texasyankee 03/29/2005
Ok this show started out hilarious. Then it turned ridiculous. How many times and how many episodes can they make doing pretty much the same exact thing every time??

This show rocks! I'm always watching the re-runs, and i have seasons 1 and 3 on dvd. I'm gonna get season 2 soon. It always made me laugh. I don't care what other people say about it.
mamas family sucks 12/30/2004
One of the classics!!!!!
jirai 12/30/2004
Always good for a cheap laugh. Although I have to agree that the show was really trashy, at least it wasn't trying to be something it wasn't (ie, reality shows).
JonTheMan 12/07/2004
As clever and witty as an exceedingly unintelligent gnat but far more predictable.
Willie A. 11/28/2004
No average real family is that dumb and trashy. True trailer park trash!! I so glad it went off the air and that I hardly see re-runs
5xworldchamps 11/12/2004
hysterical...broke new ground. The Bundys rule!
Chalky Studebaker 10/24/2004
it was definitely white trash but come on........that's what made it funny. this show could always make me laugh and it really got good when jefferson showed up......my favorite episode is probably when aliens used al's smelly socks as fuel for their spaceship.....classic!
garreth jones 10/24/2004
disgusting

One of the best shows EVER, period. Al Bundy is easily one of the best TV characters ever to grace the screen.
Da Minx 10/04/2004
I used to like this show back in the 80's. But like most things too much of anything is bad for ya, and that's the case with this show. Stale and tiresome humour. I appreciate it still has a pretty big fan base. However give me the Golden Girls any day, that has stood the test of time imo.
CapAnson 09/03/2004
Seemed new and fresh but really it was Archie Bunker without having to play by network rules.. If I remember correctly with was one of the first 4 Fox shows along with Bean Baxter, The Tracey Ullman show, and Werewolf. I can't remember if Parker Lewis Can't Lose was first season or not.. anyway great show
numbah16tdhaha 08/20/2004
Al Bundy is the best truely authentic TV dad, even if the rest of them are all stereotypes.
ihatetheheat 08/11/2004
I just love watching reruns of this.. it is so hilarious and fun. It is also the most unrealistic ( in real life if you make minimum wage you would be living in public housing and receiving food stamps. And you sure wouldn't go on one of Peggy Bundy's wild shopping sprees!). But being so unreal is what made it so good! It is one of the few shows where I like all of the charactors. Kelly is a teenage harlot and has as much intelligence as a corpse, Peg Bundy just sits around all day watching tv or goes on shopping sprees. She is always whining in a real high pitched voice and neglects the kids. Al is the loser shoe salesman. I kind of feel sorry for him. His kids treat him like dirt and his wife is always begging him for sex (he hates having sex with Peg! And I don't blame him!). The wife and kids are always asking for money and bleeding him dry. Bud Bundy is the son who is short and can't get girls to go out with him so he has an inflatable doll for company. Marcy is the next door neighbor. She is a feminist and Al is always making fun of her because she is flat chested and is built like a man. All the charactors are always laughing at and making fun of each other. I almost forgot Buck the dog. It was funny when they made it where you can hear it's thoughts. One time Al was talking to the dog and said, Buck, I am not going to be able to get you anything for Christmas this year. And Buck thinks: Well I got you something. It's called pee and I left it in your shoe. Just priceless!
