 | Munson (7) 03/20/2001 | I like diners as much as the next guy, but no diner deserves more than a 3. You get what you'd expect here - a pretty wide variety (breakfast, lunch or dinner) served quickly and without too many bells and whistles. They're pretty much all over the place, so if you spend some time in SF, you can't help but check one out.

I've even been known to venture into the outer areas of the menu (open-faced turkey sandwich, for example) from time to time. And if I still have room after eating, all the better, because that means I can order a milk shake for the road.

Everything I've ordered at Mel's (burgers, salads, sandwiches) has tasted great, and the milkshakes are especially good. If I lived in San Francisco, I'd be a regular customer.
