Does anyone remember Nick-at-Night selling a copy of the shoe phone (desktop version, unfortunately)? I'd love to get my hands on one.

The 60's TV show is the best television comedy to come out of US.  Unlike the movie many seem to be comenting on....Max is my hero

The movie was great. I saw it with my two boys ages 8 and 14. We all thought it was fantastic. They rated it right up there with IRONMAN. I can't wait to buy the DVD.

Already my husband and I have referenced funny moments today, after laughing out loud last night at Steve Carell. The theatre crowd was roaring with laughter, and bust out in applause at the dance off scene. Destined to be a classic. Hope it comes out on DVD for Christmas gifts, this ones a must for my Dad.

Did these negative reviewers really see the same movie that I did? 6 of us went to see "Get Smart" and we laughed like mad. It is funny, engaging and light. It is not a redo of the TV series, but a fresh look at Maxwell Smart(Steve Carell)and his life as a special agent. Masi Oka and Nate Torrence(Bruce & Steve) are the invention nerds bordering on the Cheshire cat! Alsn Arkin is refreshing, nutty, and no matter how old your are, his stunts, show an older person as outrageous, flexible and someone we really like. The mean, bad guys( especially Terrence Stamp, Ken Davitian)are really nuts and we get to know them! Worth seeing over and over again when you really see the many special touches in the film. Enjoy this fast moving,PG-13 comedy of the summer!

in its day, it wa the coolest of the cool spy shows, even though it wa a out right spoof on the whole 007 gengre of films. as a kid I took much of it serious! in reruns it is still extrely funny, none other but the two main actors could ever play those parts, remakes are terrrible. they had a great chemistry, much like the avengers.

Never missed it. Loved Agent 99 and the shoe phone. For a while, I thought everyone was a spy and their shoes were phones.

a 3.5. could be funny. my dad loved this and would laugh all the time. I guess i found it funny too. Maxwell Smart was not so smart but could be funny especially when he messed up. had some good moments. neat contraptions like the shoe phone, wonder if they ever knew it sort of had a future, sans the shoe.

Dumb dumb it was odd but it had at times a credible story line, and that will always sell, give the viewer something he or she could imangine him self in or doing and it should work well.

This was a classic! My favorite line was when 99 asked Max, "Why does Control exist?" Max replied "To fight Kaos." She then asked, "Then why does Kaos exist?" Max said "To fight Control." Two inept organizations that couldn't live without each other...ya' gotta love it!

Five stars early on, tapering eventually to about three and one-half. Best watched one show at a time. Tape the marathons to watch later. If you own the DVD set(s) take it slow. You'll enjoy them more and they'll last longer.

No matter how many times I look at the photo I keep in my office of the Chief and Max trying to use the port-a-cone, I laugh. This is the portable version of the cone of silence that looks like one of those plexiglass hamster habitats. Max has one sphere over his head and the Chief has the other sphere over his head and there is a clear cylindrical tube between them. This show was so inventive and funny and clever and dumb at the same time. My wife bought the DVD set for me late last year and it turned my kids into big fans too. It looks and feels so dated now, but it's a classic that in many ways bridges a generation.

Horrible, annoying, unfunny. Don Adams is high in the running for worst comic actor all-time career division.

For a farce comedy, "Get Smart" was relatively successful and gets a few bonus stars as a result. The imprint of screenwriter Mel Brooks is clearly felt, as he takes his stab at the spy genre. (Brooks is said to invariably put Nazis in each of his productions, but I don't recall any in this series.) I would also add that since the common phrases and gadgets of Agent 86 (Don Adams) (e.g. "missed it by that much" and his shoe phone) have become popular icons, the show has had some lasting effect (though I don't recall Adams appearing in anything else except the voiceover for Inspector Gadget.) Another positive from my perspective was that Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon) was attractive but wasn't overly pretty, which added some reality to the surreal storylines. I always liked the cone of silence, even suggesting the other day that some co-workers get one of these gadgets. The bottom line is a rounding up to four stars for a series that could have easily run out of steam after two seasons.

The show was before I was born but some times I watch TVland I like how Maxwell would talk to the shoe like a phone (thank the God for cell phones!) and 99 it was cool that a girl was named after a number and her name was never reveled which was cool too.

Fabulous comedy. Before my time of course but the reruns I've seen always have me laughing. I wish I had more of the episodes on tape. Get Smart has great entertainment value even after so many years. The characters all had their quirks and were very likeable.

A classic slapstick show. Get Smart has some hilarious gags and it's great because of the overacting and using every moment possible to get a laugh (nothing obsecene or lewd, thankfully). The episodes with the arch-enemy Siegfried (portrayed by Bernie Kopell) are the best, in my opinion. Axed before its time by NBC and later, CBS.

Some really funny stuff..liked the one where Max tells the Chief he was captured by KAOS and tortured. The Chief says that's terrible what did they do to you?, and Max says they made me listen to Laurance Welk Music! (I can remember my father always watched this show and I hated it).

Really corny and stupid: about as funny as having root canal done. Anytime a sitcom attempts to capitalize on a popular culture craze, in this instance, James Bondmania, the results are usually crap. Don Adams is a retard who came up with some of the lamest schtick ever. Barbara Feldon is a bore, and the only saving grace of this nonsense was E. Platt as the Chief, who should have been put to better straightman use. This show is one of the few turkeys Mel Brooks and Buck Henry were ever associated with.

Anyone who doesn't love this show needs to have a sense of humor surgically implanted into their brain! Plus, the relationship between Max and 99 was at once sweet and offbeat. The actors were terrific, the scripts were surreal and funny, and it had plenty of action, besides. I'm watching the reruns every day on TV Land...and loving it!

I think Get Smart is the best and funniest show in tv history. It produced more catch phrases the any show on tv except maybe saturday night live and it did it in only 5 years. It won 7 emmys 3 for Don Adams 2 for best comedy 1 for writing and 1 for directing. It is also the only successful satire in tv history.Watch it 8am daily on tvland you will laugh and love it too.Thanks. GOD Bless!

I loved all of it! It's much older than I am, but I have seen many of the reruns and still enjoy them. It was a wonderful show, with lots of laughs, good storylines and great acting. I loved Max (Don Adams) and 99 (Barbara Feldon), as well as the other characters. I did always wonder what 99's real name was though!

I still remember at about age 5 (1969) that I was traumatized by the end credit sequence. That big, heavy door closed right on his NOSE, OUCH! Every week I had to turn away so that I wouldn't see. But even as a young child I knew this show was great, and I've loved it ever since.

Get Smart was another show that didn't quit soon enough. By the time it ended, its humour was running thin and the jokes were old -- but, in its prime, it couldn't be beaten. "Would you believe" is still a phrase that makes many of us smile. Are there any comedies running now that will leave anything behind?

This wacky spoof of the international super spy films - that were all the rage of the mid-60s - falls in the category of programs I look back on as mildly entertaining. Yet, in spite of the fact that many of the gags were fairly witty and original (i.e., the famous shoe phone) once you realized Max was a dimwit who would proceed to repeat the same kinds of dumb mistakes to the end that is exactly what you began to long for.

This show was terrific. I still watch it whenever it's on. Even after seeing each episode at least 3 times I still manage to laugh. That's what you call comedy.
