Good. Didn't see a big difference between this and the original though.

When this game came out I wasted days doing nothing but play it. It was the S**T! There was nothing more intense than creeping around in the dark, less than 10% health left and running into one of those damn Revenants! Hell yeah! I'm gonna go play it now.

Absolutely has to be one of the greatest games I've ever played. The original DOOM was a classic, but you can't shrug it off as a mere add-on. The new map design really makes the game flow a lot better. The Super Shotgun and new demons are also quite fun. No, you can't jump and no, you can't look up and down, but that would just take away from the fun, now wouldn't it? Also, if you run it in ZDaemon, custom map support for co-op and deathmatch is awesome. So I recommend you get this game unless you are easily frightened or don't like gory shoot-'em-up games. And when you do, happy fragging!

Essentially the same as Doom, Doom II has a greater variety of weapons and monsters and a LOT more levels (approximately 30...whereas the first Doom had only seven). In every other facet the gameplay and premise is the same. The story is that your avatar has to travel to Mars to destroy a smorgasbord of monsters, then eventually the monster base, return to earth and kill a lot more. The graphics and sound effects are the exact same as the original Doom, and like the original you can't duck or jump. To a testament to Doom's originality, even to this day no game that I've ever come across scares the hell out of me like Doom and Doom II, no game is as gory, and no game has as memorable atmosphere, monsters, or weapons. Some of the weapons and monsters in Doom and Doom II are way more awesome and scary those of any computer game that has come out since. Even today, the year 2007, 16 some odd years after Doom II came out (which I still own) I find myself reinstalling it and playing it... Read more

It's still more fun to play than most of the first person shooters you see nowadays.

Doom II came out nearly two years after the original classic, closely followed by a whole host of FPS games using the Doom engine (Heretic, Rise of the Triads, Hexen) - naturally we expected that same WOW factor when we first sat in front of Doom. It was more of the same thing but beleive me, this wasn't a let down - on the contrary, we wanted more of the same thing but as a bonus we got better graphics, bigger guns, scarier enemys and larger levels. I gave Doom II a 4 because though it gave us what we thought we wanted, what we really needed was Quake and that was soon to follow.

ahh, the sequel to the game that started it all (sort of, the castle wolfinstein came first, but this game did the revolution). it's a fun game even today if you just want to have some fun, and it got a kind of simplicity combined with complex levels which make ths game kind of exotic. worth playing even if just for the sake of nostalgia.

This game is simply more Doom. More of a good thing. And the new levels, monsters, weapon, skies, music, and textures don't hurt the experience any. If you like Doom, then pick this up wherever you can. I'm sure there is a free copy of it somewhere on the 'net. I wish they still made games like this.

Doom 2 takes off from where Doom ended. While it was captivating for blood, violence, goat worship, and more monsters, ultimately it was just more Doom and therefore only slightly better than Doom.
