The only hit was the great looking stage/set, everything else SUCKED! Shame because a few years ago remember when Soulja Boy opened the show and they had different venues, sets in Vegas? Or was that another awards show? Well the Vegas awards show a few years back in the large hotels and different sets was a smash hit! Whoever planned it this year will no longer work in this business. They should hire me, I'll crunk this party the hell up! www.djcpu.com

are you kidding, a bunch of washed up 40-50 year olds performing on the awards, from Lopez to Cruz to Fergie, all a bit desperate on the performer's part and viacom airing it. If they didnt have the Vampires it would have been a senior frogs fest, which would probably be a better name.

horiffic show. awful stage that seemed put together at the last minute. the host was funny but overdid it hoping to think that the last performance "was great!", though boring. the shameless promotion of the reality shows, which is why MTV shouldn't have VMA's anymore anyway...they don't show music videos, just clips now and then. Change MTV to RTV. Having watched the VMA's for years...the show is at an all-time low. How can it get lower than this last show. How? Get it together guys or drop the show altogether. MTV sucks.

This was by far the biggest Joke of a VMA's I have ever seen. MTV I hope a lot of people are getting fired over this one. Russel Brand is such a joke, he's horrible, not funny, not even able to listen to him. Why do I want his opinion on politics? I don't. Why do I need to hear someone the whole show say "wow, what an amazing Performance!" to every person who came on stage? The venue sucked too- it didn't even look elaborate, like someone threw it together at the last minute. MTV, please redeem yourself next year with a real show at a real venue and most importantly, with a REAL host. And cut out the F'ing advertisements! We get enough of those during the commercial break. Did I mention that a few people need to lose their jobs over this one????

I've been reading all the posts. It made me laugh so much. People need to relax. Russell Brand did what was asked of him, he was as he always is. And no, he's never been politically correct. I have a feeling that those really giving him the most abuse are either Republicans pissed at the fact he promoted Obama or the very religious, who don't believe in sex before marriage. I'm neither, but understand how it may be frustrating to see. On the other hand, you cannot lambast one man. Attack the network. But then on the other hand, lighten up a little. That's the beauty of free speech. And stop with the ''go back to your own country'' and ''who's this brit''... That just makes you sound ignorant. Come forth with a genuine argument and point of view and then we can talk. There's too much anger and reaction; not enough wisdom or measured responses.

I actually attended the show in person and it was equally as disappointing as everyone says. The venue was terrible! What is the deal with multiple stages? It is so disjointed and confusing. It was a series of tiny, poorly constructed stages, people sitting in bleachers and bare concrete walls they didnt even try to decorate. I long for the days of Radio City Music Hall. Watching the Fashion Rocks show now and it totally blows away the VMAs from a production standpoint.

The show was rubbish... APART from Russell Brand! He was the only reason I kept watching it!! I know everyone has been slagging off his comments and views, but all I can say is chill out! The guy is a comedian for God sake.. Americans don't realise how people view them from the outside.. that is having no sense of humour and living in La la land the whole time! Really most of them just can't take a joke... and are so easily offended.. and the comments i'm seeing just back up my claims.. I find it all hilarious! The people that should be slagged off are the ones that "thanked God" for all there awards. Oh yea, that's right, i'm sure God approves singers wearing slutty dresses and taking drugs. Well done...

I don't really watch award shows anymore, much less MTV's Video Music Awards. In fact, I just wandered into it while changing the channel. I was watching for the first few minutes until the host, whoever he was, started with the politics. My wife and I looked at each other and she said "Find something else, please". There is a time and a place for politics. An award show is not the time or place. I feel the same way about the Oscar's and the Emmys. Just stick to entertainment please.

That was a travesty last night. What has happened to music? MTV has killed the credibility of music by making music about marketing and brand promotion with no concern for musical content. Current Rap is terrible. At least when LL Cool J got up and rapped old school style last night it had SOME melody. Lil' Wayne needs to pull his pants up put a shirt on and get some rhythm. Rhiannan can't sing...period. Pink sounded great. (Her and Paramore were the only two performers that did anything for me.) Even Christina Aguilara lip synced. She's the only true singer of the bunch. Unfortunately I think she's turned into Britney. I thought is was Britney when the song started. The teen pop thing I don't get and why didn't Miley Cirus perform?...oh yeah, she had to sing four bars of Bon Jovie for the ROCK STAR game in order to SELL more xbox consuls. The Jonas Bros. sound like a resurgence of the Osmonds. (Puppy Love? God help us all)! Britney Spears and Paris Hilton represen... Read more

That was, without a doubt, the absolute worst, most disjointed, irrelevant, lame, unfunny & pathetic piece of s*& awards show in televised history. I've seen better content drop out the back of my dog's ass. I kept praying that it was all an elaborate live snuff film and that, at any moment, someone would appear and mercifully dispatch all this year's nominees in what has to be the absolute WORST YEAR EVER for pop music as we know it. The performances all sucked, with the exception of (shockingly) Lil Wayne. And that was only because the two songs he performed seemed like the only ones released all year that had an actual beat or energy that a living, breathing person could rock to. Otherwise...ever heard of a belt? The presenters were wooden as hell and looked as though they had been forced onto the stage at gunpoint. Some clearly didn't even know their lines; it's like they forgot the show was happening that night or something. Even the crowd (including what currently p... Read more

Okay, Britney wasn't that bad, she deserved maybe one award...but THREE?! MTV was obviously just trying to look like "the good guy" ...imean it was a good song (it was 'piece of me' that won right?) well anywho, don't get me wrong, decent song but if ALL her other video's didn't win out of 16 nominations...what are the odds she got all THREE from this teensie little, quote unquote "comeback" vid that wasn't all that great. And that host? yuck totally tasteless jokes and offended just about everybody in the country. Christina Aguilera???? don't get me started...she was what I was looking forward to for half the show. I was so excited whenever I saw the countdown to her. And THEN when she finally performed...lip-synched? WTF?? Her voice is friggin amazing, is she *trying* to look like a talentless airhead who needs the help of technology to sound good? She has been singing live since MMC and even before that, it's a shame to start looking bad now. And yuck sorry, but Rihanna's ... Read more

VMA'S SUCKS When i was a kid, my dream was wining the award for best direction in a video... now, the nomination does no even in the show!! And it would be a shame winning in that ridiculous show... I used to love the VMA's in the 90's, it was my favourite show, but now, is just BRITNEY NIGHT, with stupid bands as Jonas B. and a host that i honestly have NO idea who he is... All the nominees for video of the year suck. How can they compare with videos like "Virtual Insanity", "Crying", "99 problems"... i honestly can't believe how baaad the vma's have become. Britney was the biggest shame last year and now, she gets an ovation???? WTF??? Britney had awful reviews for her album, but mtv apparently love her and organize a party just for her... the VMA. I'm wondering why MTV didn't put Britney as a host. I feel sorry for the generation growing with this stupid mtv :(

There is no other way to put it but to say...it SUCKED!!! The host was horribly out of line and contradicted himself all night. BAD call on MTV! They made themselves and music look bad! They discredit the Jonas brothers for wearing purity rings, bash Sarah Palins daughter for being a young pregnant teen (as if thats someone new in America) And what does Sarah Paylins daughter have to do with the MTV awards anyway? But hey its ok if youre Britney Spears right! And whats with rappers still wearing their jeans hanging off their buttI thought we were past that! Im sure Ralph Lauren was pleased to see a pair of his boxers on some rappers rear!!! Bottom line there wasnt a touch of class or talent to the entire show!! And MTV should be embarrassedwhat a waste of an hour!

What is an untalented Brit doing hosting an American award show? He managed to tell American's that we are racist, who to vote for in our own country, put down our Nation and our President, and go against our religious beliefs all within a matter of minutes of being on TV. If MTV things that British host are so much better than American host maybe they should just leave the British to watch these horrible shows. I am offended as an American and as a Christian. I will never watch MTV again and our country and our President is owed an apology! MTV should be banned from US television. Does anyone have any pride in their country? If you want to send a complaint you can send an email to Russell Brand's manager at [email protected]

The MTV Awards last night sucked BIG TIME! Russell Brand was not even remotely funny and what right does someone who is a known sex addict have in making fun of the Jonas Brothers for being decent people. Kudos to them for being different. Russell Brand was ugly, akward and just plain stupid, go back to your country and stay the hell out of ours!!! Pink ROCKED! Christina was good and Kid Rock was good too. The sets were strange, the audience seemed small and it seemed that during the red carpet you didn't see near as many stars as you used to. Plus the helicopter thing during the red carpet show was so dumb and so was the circus arrival by whoever the hell that was. They should just cancel the awards for next year!!!

The MTV Video Music Awards Show was terrible. I thougt that Russell Brand guy was out of line and in no way funny. I thout the first show with Rihanna suck and she could not sing along with song. I thought she look awkard. Although I think the best two performance's were The Jonas Brothers and T.I with Rihanna. Christina Aguleria performance suck, and I think M.TV gave Britney those rewards out of payment in order for her to be there, I thougt she did look good even with the sparse weave. I wonder were was all the hard hitters like Diddy..Timberland..Justin..Chris Brown, could have perform..Danity Kane ect . Oh and the stage suck it was to spacy. Hopefully better next time.

Is this really the way MTV wanted to celebrate it's 25th?!?! The Host Great. Funny. Out of line, but that was the point. Russell Brand is known to be controversial, so he did EXACTLY what he was hired to do. I cannot believe what a bunch of stiffs Hollywood is turning into. The Show Where the hell were the people? Why was the venue smaller than my highschool auditorium? MTV has certainly lost it's pizzazz. The performances were just okay and the night was really all about Britney anyway. I can't believe the most exciting part were the first 10 minutes of the foreign host no one's really heard about. Wake up MTV! You really let us down.

The mtv awards last night was the worse i have ever seen in my life and it need to be reported or taken off the air, for the host to get on stage and act like young adults wasn't looking.Anyone that got on stage and represented Obama like that lost my vote, i am a true democrat but he help me with the undecided vote. Stop pushing Obama down people throat, we make up our own mine. It was ok for the vice president sarah children for not to have a baby but it was ok for the simpson girl, you need to send that kid back to england, because people don't act like this im america. Your show should not allow this kind of trash.

Seriously, this show was horrible. The host ruined what could have been a pretty good line-up of guests. And how the hell does Britney win all the awards?? The area where they had it was terrible too. It was inside, outside, on a small stage, big stage, etc. Totally unorganized if you ask me!

Yeah, I agree! The host SUCKED! Loved the show, except him.. Who the hell told him he could ever say "retard".... UNACCEPTABLE and very ignorant! He was awkward, unattractive, and not at all funny! He should stay in his own country and keep his political views there! Who said he could tell America how to vote! What he said about Palin and her family was unacceptable... not necessary..

i believe it was a horrible show because of the host. He is a stupid britt that needs to stay out of american politics. His endorsement of only one canidate and his later remarks about republicans were horrible and because of so i changed the channel within minutes of hearing it. I wanted to sit down and enjoy a nice awards show and now because of a stupid britt that knows nothing about american politics i cannot do that.

Wow! OMG this is terrible. Who the hell is the host??? He should be kicked off the stage and not ever allowed to speak on TV in America ever again. The whole political BS at the beginning of the show that was completely unrelated. Rhianna's performers/performance was definitely disturbing. The Jonas Brothers song was terrible which is sad after the host gave them so much crap. Why can't we just have an american host, Justin Timberlake did a great job with the ESPY's they shouldve got him... anyone but this guy. Terrible, a complete waste of TV time, what were they thinking when they planned this... wow!

yeah, fuck all this shit.russell brand is an amazing comedian, far more amusing than any american comedian i've ever heard. just because all us americans are so stupid we don't understand british humour, doesn't give you any right to hate on him.and come on. seriously? everyone else in the united states and complain about bush, and someone from another country can't? i thought the fact that britney hosted was funny, because she's a cracked out whore, but she's trying to get her life back together.and all you shits are going to be seeing a lot more of russell brand here in the states. thank god. maybe people will actually start understanding what humour is.

OK so I just watched the VMA's. First off kudos to Britney for doing a 360 from last year. It is nice to she her cleaned up and back to her old roots. And CHRISTINA..amazing as usual! Now about the host, Russell Brand. It's cool to have your own view on things and speak up about it but at the same time look at who your audience is and watch what you are saying. He is a democrat (even though he doesn't live in the US..=I ) That is totally fine with me. I agree with some issues that democrats presents. I could care less what his actual view is. I do have a problem promoting a candidate and not saying anything about his issues or where he stands. To me that is not being the face forward nation as he claims. MTV is a young target age group, pretty much the age group that isn't voting. If he wants to be so face forward speak about voting and learning the issues. THAT IS WHAT THIS NATION NEEDS. Young adults need to REALLY learn what each candidate stands for and what they hope to do in offic... Read more

Is hip hop the ONLY genre of music you MTV watching amercians deem worthy of awards??!! It was as if PPuffyIdontlikemynameseanDiddy was left to put the whole thing together himself. It was just so terrible i couldnt stop watching. At least they gave some time for Coldplay to perform, but im surprised they would agree to play at a blatant hiphop fest such as this. The VMAs are a reflection of the direction MTV has chosen to go for the last few years. That is, all hip-hop all-the-time. If you're looking for anything else then you had best go to one of their sister networks or another music videeo network altogether. This ain't your big brother's MTV. That thing is an icon of the past unfortunately.

Every year the VMA's get better, until this year. I feel like the show went completley to the dogs. Diddy has his place in the music biz and it is NOT hosting the VMA's, or any show for that matter. He is no comedian, not even an actor. All he did was shameless self marketing all night. How sad, we had to sit through MC Hammer while Gwen Stefani sat on her hands??! And the Black-Eyed Peas, I would have much rather seen them onstage, after all wasn't it really their year?! I thought it was way too rap-centric...and I like rap. Either Diddy had too much infulence, or MTV made some really bad decisions! Where was the red carpet scene? Miami is such a glamorous, beautiful city and all I saw on camera was thugs, Diddy clones and a few punky white guys. I guess they have nowhere to go but up after this, next year should be DIDDY-FREE!!!!

Worst MVA ever! The current generation of performers blow monkeys. Green Day and Cold Play were the only performers that were anywhere near cool. Is it possible on here to give NO STARS? This years MTV Awards was lame and tired. What happened to MUSIC? If I hear another rapper talk about the size of his wheels, his jewelry or how much ass he gets, im going to barf. MTV is going to have to do a lot to recover from this years flop. Seems like since Miami became the spot for the show, it's sucked the big one. Take the show back to New York, it was better then.

These were by far the worst VMAs ever. Puff Daddy, or whatever he wants to be called this week is a terrible host, you could barely hear the audio and the show dragged on forever. It also seemed like the show was a paid program to promote Puff Daddy and his friends. Sad to think I really enjoyed this show when comedians like Chris Rock and Jimmy Fallon not only kept the show flowing, but also made great comedic performances. MTV, time to go back to basics or pull the plug on these awards.

OH MY GOSH could MTV give Music a worse name than VMA. I thought the show was the worse thing I had ever seen. Where was KATRINA when we needed her? Between Diddy hosting, R. Kelly and whatever the hell he did and just total unorganization, the show was nothing but a dissappointment. The best moment of the night came when Green day won for America Idiot. I don't care about bling or cars or cash or trashy women and if that is what music has come to than America has far worse problems than just a war in Iraq! Oh and by the way not all blacks are stupid idiots only interested in cars, bling and violence and crappy music. Get it together MTV!

I attended the VMA's twice in my lifetime, once in NYC at Radio City Music Hall, and yesterday. The first one in NYC was so much better than last night's event. I felt like it was all about P. DIDDY or DIDDY or whatever he wants himself to be called. It reminded me of the BET Awards. Way too much grandstanding by the rappers, and not enough really good performances. And what the hell was with the Simpson sisters. Don't get me wrong, I think Jessica is a real smart business woman, but her sister is a dried up artist, and her father needs a reality check, both of his daughters aren't talented, and he should stop promoting them as it. Would I ever go to the VMA's again? Maybe, just for the parties, and that is probably it.
