I like Rich Eisen but his move to the NFL Network has made him mostly irrelevant to me. He was better as a Sportscenter anchor than as a studio host. However, he still has a great personality for tv or radio. He is able to bring some humor to sports discussion, without coming over the top with it.

Very capable and likable NFL network frontman who is perfect for that channel.

I'm getting tired of him on the NFL Network. Starting to come off as a whiny snot nose punk that should be slapped around a bit. Deon can take a break as well.
trebon1038 10/10/2005
He's kind of silly, but funny too. Asks some stupid questions sometimes but most that he interviews on NFL All Access seem to respond well to him. Gets in trouble now and then with comments on the Miami cheerleaders. Funny to watch.

I think Rich is super solid. He was fabulous on SportsCenter and never pandered to the audience (unlike his side-kick Stu-ya Scott). Sometimes, Rich can be too jokey, but when he's in the zone, he mixes pop culture references with a thorough knowledge of the game. Don't be surprised if he moves on to bigger' venues, but he has been a huge part of The NFL Network's gynormous success. He just needs time to connect with all the players in the league and before you know it, he will be one of the all time greats. As far as being a Michigan guy . . . whatever. Northwestern RULES the Big 10! (After graduation)

He should have stuck with ESPN.
B-Cash 04/05/2005
This man is hilarious....him and Stuart Scott were the best sportscenter tandems..one of the best ESPN on-air personalities ever....i miss him on ESPN cuz he was soo funny..him and Kenny Mayne and Dan Patrick but him and Stuart Scott were always the best...he has the funniest commercials for the NFL Network i wish i had that channel so i can laugh and be informed at the same time

A complete tool. Just look at him

An excellent host on NFL Network who often has to spend his time making his co-host look good when clearly they are ill-suited for their positions (good athletes don't necessarily make good analysts) i.e Michael Irvin. I enjoy watching the NFL Netwwork because it is clear that Rich is a fan of the game and it comes across in his delivery and overall interaction with players. As for those who think he isn't serious enough...go ahead and tune into 60 minutes if you want a critical analysis of the state of football.

Listen to me...Rich Eisen is struggling with the task of trying to fill empty air time. Let's face it, this guy has a huge responsiblity. Unfortunately, his personality becomes annoying in those situations that require him to engage in witty banter or when he tries to be one of the guys with the players. His light and airy approach to football is sometimes inappropriate. Doesn't he have a Master's from Northwestern? Shouldn't he be a bit more serious? Why didn't Dan Patrick get this job? Ooops, did I say that last thing out loud? Straighten up, Eisen. Be a more serious reporter and don't bend over and show your ass each time you get giddy over interviewing a probowler. Thanks for listening.

Toolish.

Yet another ESPN guy who thinks he's great because he's on ESPN.
calisteelerfan 11/18/2004
During his Steeler post-game broadcast he mimicked Ben Roethlisberger doing nothing but hand-offs and said typical rookie quarterback. Obviously he (Rich)didn't understand that the running game was KILLING the Eagle defense so that was what the Steelers used that week. Big Ben went to the air against the Browns last week. He now has the best starting record of any rookie quarterback (7 in a row) and is rated 6th in the NFL (did I mention that he's a ROOKIE?!) So sorry Rich! You're a moron! Ben is NOT typical, he's the next Terry Bradshaw. The clock strikes BIG BEN!

I thought that Rich Eisen was good on ESPN with his wiseguy attitude and one liners. I think that ESPN didn't promote him enough. I like that he's still out there, this time on the NFL network. Liked the promos for the network, even when he's wearing his suit in that tub of water in a football locker room. So funny!
Sportsgal 09/16/2004
I actually know him personally and he really is super. Unlike his wife. And to answer your question earlier, she talked her way into that job with no experience, and obviously no talent.
Harlemmade 09/01/2004
Funny guy and missed on ESPN but saw him on the hoops court on 78Th and Columbus once and the guy can't shoot a lay-up. Guess that's why he's in the booth....
sportsfansyd 08/24/2004
Rich is a great sportscaster, unlike his wife, Suzy Shuster who should learn a few things from her husband (first and foremost how'd she get on air with that annoying whiny voice).
slickwillie71 06/03/2004
ESPN's loss is the gain to all of us with NFL Network. As the lead host of the network, he makes the show move in a fast-paced way that is both informative and funny. Rich is the man and has found his home covering America's Game.
magellan 05/28/2004
A good anchor, and an extremely likable personality. I say personality because he apparently isn't a very likable person. He did an event for a sister of a friend of mine, and was apparently saying things like do you know who I am? when he didn't feel like he was getting enough of a Rock Star's welcome. Loved the interview he did with Saved By the Bell's Mr. Belding in ESPN the magazine though.
coleslough 05/28/2004
fullof himself...like alot of U of M grads
e-bone2 04/29/2004
Rich Eisen = Dan Patrick - Enormous Ego + sense of humor
larry_biz 12/26/2003
Quality guy that routinely made his co-anchor better. ESPN will miss him more than you may initially think.
Naxalite 12/02/2003
He is adorable. I hear that he isnt on Sportscenter anymore, which is truly tragic. I also heard he was recently married, which is equally tragic to me and my school girl crush. But congrats to him anyways! Anybody know his fan mail address? Tune in to I love the 80's strikes back, he's brilliantly funny and always cute as a button.
suzyho-bag 10/18/2003
Rich Eisen is the best! He's totally sexy, and really intelligent and funny, he's great on sportscenter, and if you ever see him on VH1's I love the 70's you can't help but like him.
JesPalubicki 08/24/2003
He's the best TV Sports Personality today.
surlychick 06/28/2003
Funny, intelligent, and ridiculously sexy in that approachable way- kind of like your highschool friend's older brother that you were in totally in love with, but tried hard not to show it. It was obvious to everyone, but he was always nice to you when he could have been a total dick. If they want to turn a hell of a lot of women into sports fans, they should hire more guys like Rich. We'll catch it by accident when the boyfriend is watching Sports Center, keep tuning in, and next thing you know, we are watching the games on purpose, even when the boyfriend isn't around. At least that's what happened to me.
Firedancer92 06/28/2003
Rich Eisen is a great sportscaster, not to mention he is extremely good looking. I love tuning in to watch him. He is very smart and funny.
grosegreg 06/02/2003
Classic
b.green 05/06/2003
Nothing better than a late night SportsCenter with Rich Eisen.
angusmacpherso n 03/23/2003
Entertaining in his newscasts, without trying to force it.
wmassie 12/19/2002
His dry humor is Mayne-like, and he seems a person easy to co-anchor.
BigBadTA 11/29/2002
He seems likeable enough, and it looks like he has fun with what he does. He is considerably funny, but not on the Kenny Mayne, Dan Patrick Level.
ellajedlicka21 10/19/2001
Another famous Sportscenter anchor. What a funny show. They sure do make it entertaining for a show that just shows highlights and tells the scores.
Johnny Roulette 01/09/2001
He's a very funny kid, but he's like a class clown who's wandered on the set and started doing a show while the adults were paying attention to something else. I'd give him another star, but have you ever seen him when he has to announce some that is completely serious? It doesn't work well.
