Earlier in his days I thought he was one of the best. Then, as all of ESPN has, he has become full of himself. When he was a guest (yes, guest) on ESPN's UpClose, which I thought was intended to have a member of the press interview sports personalities, this was too much. Sorry but when I see the press interview the press then I want to throw up. ESPN has become too big for it's britches.

I heard on a local radio show that he's a real hardass with his co-workers and that he's a real miserable man.

i don't know why this guy is so respected. he's not all that good. stumbles through segments at times. he doesn't know a lot about every sport.

Dan does a very solid job, and he is very fluid when announcing something. Ever notice he kinda looks like Joe Isuzu though?
fourkids 09/14/2005
One of the best - he's professional, he's not totally taken with himself(Stewie Scott, do you feel me, bro?) and he has the best delivery of any ESPN anchor - ever.

DP has grown to annoy me. He is always on vacation now. And on the few times he does actually work, he is just too smug for my tastes. Dont like the new format with taking calls all the time. Also, what was the deal with Dibble leaving? Probably more than we have been led to believe. DP needs a new sidekick.

Although I don't watch Sportscenter all that much, Dan has an incredible voice and does just about everything to make the program enjoyable.

Class act all the way. Impervious knowledge on all aspects of sports and entertainment. A good dresser as well.
pubstar 02/10/2005
It was great when Dibble was on...now it STINKS!!!

Come on...he only voices an opinion if its going to get a rise out of his 'interviewee' (read opponent), doesn't let people finish a sentence, thinks he knows more about baseball than Harold Reynolds (did Dan play past little league) and is just an all around annoyance.

Dan Patrick Rules!

better on radio

He used to be great and original. Now his ego prevents him from trying anything else. I listened to him on the radio for about a year. I don't know if he got any worse but I can't take him any more. He's like Joan Rivers.

Whining, unfunny, jocksniffer.

Wipe that smirk off your face. You are no longer funny or cute.
alpepper 12/22/2003
Incredibly overated. His radio show exposes him as a smug, athlete wannabee, who prefers to schmooze it up with his interviews (Hey Barry Bonds: Ginger or Mary Ann) than seek out insightful questions. When he does try to go in-depth, he tends to piss off the person he's interviewing (Whitey Herzog hung up on him).

Dan's days of being the King of Sports Center are now more honorary. I think his seet as the best there is has been surpassed, but he set the standard and his place will always be there. While he's no longer the best SC personality, however, his radio work is a must listen every day.

OK

Dan is great! I loved the tandos of Dan with Keith Olberman and Dan with Craig Kilborn. They could have been the first "The Man Show". Perhaps Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla stole a page from Sportscenter by uniting what men like, plus T&A!
BigBadTA 11/22/2002
simnply the best sports personality out there
lukskywlkr. 11/13/2002
At a time when way too many sports announcers and the like take sides for a certain sports team, Patrick is certainly a much needed presence for sports. He's fair, knowledgeable, professional, and therefore very likable.

See my comments on Kenny Mayne.
KRAMNOR 03/27/2001
Way too overly melodramatic when a sports star gets in trouble. He whines and becomes too (pseudo)sincere. His radio show magnifies this. He is better on TV.
maddmarxx 01/09/2001
My personal favorite on ESPN.Intelligent and funny as hell.Always does a great job inthe promos.Do you think he really has a picture of himself in his locker?

It was years ago when Dan Patrick really took over Sports Center. Together with Keith they became the "Dynamic Duo" of sports commentators. His sayings became famous and everyone who watched Sports Center said them. He is definitely one of the best in the business.
flai6201om 05/25/2000
HE SUCKS
Munson 04/06/2000
He remains the barometer by which all sports anchors are measured. Patrick is both smart and funny, neither of which is forced. Many younger broadcasters try to emulate him, but most fail miserably.
magellan 04/05/2000
The absolute best. I have never heard him misspeak a word, mispronounce a name, or get ruffled. Almost TOO polished.
